Its been a while. But this Christmas we decided to go back to one of my favourite places, Ulla Winbladh, for julbord It hadn't changed: the welcome was super, coats taken away, we were led to a lovely corner table for 2 and as usual you are assigned a waiter looking after just a few tables for good service...btw, he (Amadeo) was excellent, friendly, prompt, unobtrusive, good English too which you expect anywhere in Sweden of course, saving me the embarrassment of my long forgotten Swedish, though of course my partner is fluent The julbord itself is in the next room, which is split into 2 identical halves to improve the flow; it was pretty crowded but not a problem In addition to the usual fare, there were a significant number of vegetarian and vegan options...very up to date! There are more than enough options and variations on a theme, all beautifully presented You could not fault the food, nor indeed the schnapps or wine...I have to say we overloaded on the herring and salmon...and then proceeded to do the same with the ham...after that it was a question of resting before trying anything else...it was a struggle but we made it! including dessert(ssss) So 2 x julbord, a glass of Hunters rouge, a Chablis & 2 Ulla akvavits and an extra 50 sek for the vestiaire came to SEK2150...good value all round A very enjoyable evening...the only thing missing this trip...no snow! that's when these places are so magical 9 Photos to follow

The Swedish Meatballs is absolutely delicious. This is the place to bring your friends and family if you love traditional Swedish food. The deep fried herring is also a local favorite and not to mention the famous caviar appetizer. The price of wines and champagne is price right, unlike America they do not charge 2-3 times the cost to buy a bottle.

We walked here for lunch after visiting the ABBA museum and everything was delicious! The complimentary bread basket was yummy as well. I ordered the Shrimp Salad which came with avocado and egg which was pretty standard. I tried some of my dad's pork and mashed potatoes, my sister's steak and potatoes, and my mom's herring and there was not a single thing I didn't love! My dad's pork was the best bacon I've ever had. It was so crispy that when I dug my fork into it, it split right off. My sister's steak came with a garlic butter and it was cooked to perfection. The potatoes had garlic on them and they were so soft. I don't even like herring but I tried some of my mom's and it was good. They accept discover/diner's club international which has no foreign transaction fees. Service was attentive and the outside patio was nice.

This restaurant embodies perfection in an old fashioned manner. Both the exterior & the interior design gives a graceful & appealing impression. The service is extremely professional and attentive yet personal. The cuisine is traditional swedish, occasionally with an international twist. The lobster soup served as a starter was a real delight & I absolutely loved the halibut with champagne sauce that I had for main course. The haricot verts had a great texture & the fish was perfectly cooked. I had a sourcream pudding with calvados apples for dessert which was an interesting experience. The fishsoup is really good as well. Every single dish was presented with the utmost care and attention to details.

We needed to treat ourselves a little because our trip in Sweden was coming to an end. We found this place not to far from our hotel. The service is very friendly. We had to wait 10 minutes because the terrace was full. However it was well worth any kind of waiting. The steaks we had were incredible. I don't remember the name because it was in Swedish, my dad had one with mustard coming with it. Mine was the one with fried onions. It was simply incredible. I was so happy to see they had Briska cider, because I feel in love with this product during my trip, so I had two. Very refreshing. One thing I recommend is to dress up a little when going there. It's a little expensive and since we're visiting with only a backpack each, we were a little underdressed. It didn't seem to bother the staff or other guests, but it bothered us a little :)

A great place, near Skansen, just take your family down "bergbanan" and you are here. Excellent service, great food even if you have your 4 year old with you. When I'm at Djurgården, this is a must have.

Tried their delicious Christmas buffet - it surely is better than most buffets out there. A lot of varieties of sill - which is a must on any Swedish Christmas/Easter/Midsummer table. Not too crowded which was nice - I've had better desert before but for me that's not a deal-breaker. Can recommend to drink their mumma instead of beer, since it adds a christmasy touch to the dining. Friendly staff and good desert - will definitely come back some other time!

We dine in during Christmas week. This restaurant offer traditional and modern swedish cuisine. They offer kids' menu. We order Swedish meatball, pan fried Herring, and beef cube with potato. Everything is delicious. Though, I have to warn you about the herring. This fish has so many little bones and it is super fishy. It is fishier than a mackerel. I never had herring in my whole life so it is a new level of fishy ness

Apparently this place has one of the best swedish meatballs. I haven't had that many swedish meatballs besides at ikea. and it's not like these were super memorable in that it had some unique flavor. but the swedish meatballs were tasty and I would go back if I could. I also had the fish roe appetizer, how can you go wrong with butter, bread, fish roe, and lemon? yummy! The ambience of the restaurant is so nice. I ate outside but the inside also seems so cozy. A must try if you're in this area of stockholm!

This place is fenomenal. Not only is it perfectly located in Djurgården in case you want to enter its museums, visit Skansen or simply go for a walk but it is also well worth a visit just to try its delicious food while enjoying its surroundings (gardens and trees). It is tastefully decorated and there are lots of details that make it look like a doll's house. Both the interior and the terrace are great places to sit, although if it's sunny you will enjoy the experience much more outside. You can sit in the shade as parts are covered with sun umbrellas. Fillet was accompanied by mushrooms and spinach in a very delicious way and it was way beyond expectations. Desserts were also carefully prepared and you will love it even before it touches your mouth. Top place

We had just arrived that afternoon and were walking around our hotel to look for an early dinner. The dining room is lovely but not too stuffy or formal. We ordered the brown bread for starters, along with some wine and beer. I ordered the Arctic char (parsnip, chili, hazelnuts, browned butter and a soy glaze) and Paul G. went with the meatballs (hand-rolled and with cream sauce, mashed potatoes, lingonberries and pickled cucumber). We had the traditional Swedish meatball dish a few more times during the trip and they all came with the same components, but Bistro Bestick's was my fave. The sauce was heavier, velvety and creamy, and the potatoes were oh so fluffy. The berries were tart and fresh. I loved my fish, too... the hazelnuts, brown butter and soy were such a bright, unexpected combination. I enjoyed every bite. Don't sleep on dessert here! I couldn't even finish my dinner but still wanted to try the chocolate rum cake (salty caramel sauce, roasted peanuts, vanilla ice cream and crispy sesame) and what a delightful flavor explosion! It was beautifully presented and the sesame "cracker" on top was the perfect contrast to all the sweetness. I'd highly recommend BB!

Apparently I'm not the only one - since last I visited it is now placed on Michelin's Bib Gourmand list for Stockhom, and rightfully so. Upon entry you'll already feel a lovely blend of Swedish design and quirky aesthetic choices that signal you're in for a good experience. While the interior is tasteful, there are elements like chairs being mounted on the walls and a couple of the seatings being perched up on mounts near the front windows. Everyone who greets you and serves are very delightful, charming, and often funny, which really sets the tone wonderfully. The food itself is on the heartier side but all really well considered and delicious. We had the see bass ceviche with tomatoes (fresh, tangy, and complex) and iberico ham with parmesan (basic but very high quality ingredients), both of which were really delicious. The complimentary bread rolls and butter were really delightful, cooked with a bubbly crunchy texture that was delightful to chew. The main courses included their classic pork confit dish as well as another ibercio pork entree with white beans, cilantro, and chorizo - both were savory and very meat-forward but the star of the show was absolutely those white beans which were prepared in a very savoury sauce. Our total bill including a very good bottle of pinot noir from Napa Valley the bill came to around $240 USD. For the quality of the food, service, and attention to style, as well as the distinction of being a recognized place to eat in Stockholm, I would definitely recommend this place to any traveler who wants to experience local cusine in Stockholm.

Everything you'd need for the perfect meal out! They do not accept reservations and we went on a Sunday evening around 8:30 pm. We waited about 30 minutes, but boy was it worth it! We were seated at a cute little corner table that had pads on the benches, right next to a window to see the street. Lighting was dim and cozy. Service was the best I've had in recent memory. Our waitress was peppy despite having to deal with a long line and probably a long day. She was friendly, attentive, and so cheerful! 100/10. We started with the reindeer salad since my bf had never had reindeer before. While the reindeer seemed less cooked than expected, by the end he really liked the mix of flavors and thought it paired well with the salad. We both got the Swedish meatballs for our entrees and loved them! We both loved the pickled cucumbers and lingonberries. The lingonberries pair so well with the meat! While there are only 3 meatballs, they were so huge neither of us could finish all of them. Especially because I wanted to save room for dessert: the sponge cake! While it didn't look like much on presentation, it was surprisingly moist and the cream and berries were absolutely delicious. My bf said he was only going to have one bite (he's not a big dessert guy) but instead ended up eating half! Highly recommend! Overall would come back again just for the vibes, service, dessert, and to probably try another entree, which I'm sure would be good as well!
