After success taking my car there a few years ago I tried Sloan's again. This time was very disappointing. I was very clear about the current issues when dropping off the vehicle but clearly it was not being written down because I had to repeat myself on multiple phone calls. Although I tested the battery and even had tried to jump start it multiple times with my own cables and jump pack from the tow company, they were insisting I replace my battery to resolve the issue. After picking up my vehicle, I took it home and parked it for the night. Next morning I had the same issues as when I dropped it off to them days before. I do not believe Sloan's was honest about the repairs needed on my car and sold me on an expensive service because they knew the battery location in my vehicle is not easily accessible. Every service being quoted had ridiculous prices behind it. $213 to repair a $20 sensor after the car was already taken apart and paying $181 for diagnostics is insane. $574 to replace a $15 gasket is laughable. $262 to pull off a plastic cover and remove/replace 4 spark plugs, $105 for a $20 air filter. I understand cost of labor involved but some of these mark ups are so unrealistic, they cannot expect any person with even beginner car maintenance knowledge to pay these prices before doing it themselves. read more

We moved from Northern NJ to Orlando and were in the market for a new mechanic. A friend recommended Sloan's Automotive to us last summer. We have had both of our vehicles serviced here several times. We have been very pleased with the level of customer service and the work done to our vehicles. One thing I LOVE about Sloan's that I have not experienced elsewhere is they run diagnostic on your car AND provide a report to you via text message. The link provides a written report split out by section of the vehicle, detailed notes and includes images of the part/section of the vehicle. Louise has been our main point of contact. He is very thorough, answers any questions I have and is very friendly. In the past at other shops, I have been treated differently being a woman, but I have not experienced that here. They give recommendations of work, will say what should be fixed immediately and what could wait till the next visit. They aren't pushy either. DO NOT USE IF YOU ARE LGBT+. This mechanic has amazing reviews on google and I have used them in the past with great results. But now that I am using them as a trans woman I can see the way they treat the LGBT+ community. I went for an oil change and got the car back with the splash guard dragging on the ground. They said they'd fix and convinced me to use them for tires and a new rear mirror also. When got it back from that two weeks later. The splash guard had been just removed without replacement and the front splash guard was now dragging. I was charged hundreds more for the tires than quoted and they won't give me an invoice just a generic receipt. The rear mirror was never touched and was never told for two weeks while they had the car that they couldn't get the mirror for my car. So over a month I barely had a car, spent over $3,000 and now I am missing a splash guard and the other is broken. Rear mirror is still broken. Only positive is an oil change and nice tires that where probably way over priced. Used this mechanic for 2 cars over 3 years and they have been amazing and the reviews everywhere are amazing. But then I walked in the door at a trans woman and that all changed. read more

Although they were very responsive and polite, they tried to upsell me. They quoted me $100 just so they can pop in a cabin air filter that I could have bought from the store for $20. The owner, Kenny, also told me, "You ALWAYS have to replace/re-machine your rotors whenever you replace your brake pads." Anyone who's ever replaced their brake pads can say how ridiculous that sounds and that I was clearly being taken advantage of. To top it all off, they forgot to add an item on my invoice AFTER I had already paid for the service. My Google review, which listed the same thing I'm listing here, has been mysteriously taken down. If you see this before they take it down, beware of their tactics and fluff. Once again, don't bother replying because I won't be coming back. I made an appointment weeks in advance to have my oil changed and my brakes replaced. The place is only open during the weekday, so I had taken the day off work to have my car worked on. This place was recommended by my wife as she had recently took her car to be serviced there. On the day of my appointment, I dropped my car off first thing in the morning. I was told that I would hear from them by late morning. I received a call from them at 2:54 pm. After having to troubleshoot this "report" I was supposed to receive (these texts were sent to my wife and not me), I finally receive and reviewed it. Of course, my brakes needed replacement. I called them back and said to move forward with the brakes, oil change (which were the sole reasons for making this appointment), as well as to drain and flush my trans fluid as this was also suspect while making this appt. I was told that this work would require me to schedule another appt because they did not have brake pads on hand. I told them I had to discuss with my wife to arrange something and I would call back. As I started to make plans in arranging this, I reflected on the chain of events that occurred and became frustrated. What took so long for them to get back to me? If I asked to replace my brakes when I made the appointment, why would they not have them on hand? What was the whole point of making an appointment (cue Seinfeld episode on making a rental car reservation)? I called back to discuss this and they said they would be able to make it happen. I spoke with Kenny when I came to pick up my car and gave my honest feedback on my experience. He was very apologetic and acknowledged that they would work on their deficiencies. He urged me to give them another try as this was unlike them. In addition to the feedback I provided to Kenny about my service appointment, I discovered I was charged for an engine air filter change. I had declined this. The air filter was dirty (see pic) when I changed it out the day after so I'm disappointed that I was charged for it. At this point, I am frustrated about the whole ordeal. Based on my experience with this shop and the fact that there is really no incentive for me returning as a customer, I'm very disappointed. I regret my decision for making an appointment. Previously I have given Sloan's a great review. They have cared for my car for years. As a widow, I trust them to do this. But this last time jarred my trust. I specifically asked to keep my bill (for several repairs) below $500. They worked on my car all day and even finished in one day instead of two. Really like these guys. They run an honest shop: they stand by their warranties and their word. I've had everything from transmission overhauls to suspension alignments to simple oil changes done here in the past year and a half. No complaints yet. Their text based reporting system allows you to quickly get a record of what's going on with your car in a straightforward and accessible way and I have not seen them pull any of that macho mechanic crap to any of their female patrons which I think speaks to their professionalism. After having some stripped bolts and a series of other concerns at my dealership these guys will always be a welcome reprieve. read more

I have been taking my cars to Sloan's for years and years. I can't even remember when I started going there. It was before the current owner/manager (Kenny) took over from his uncle, who suddenly died too young. At least 10 or 12 years. So, recently, I took a car there, it was a comedy of errors. Got different stories from Kenny and two of the service writers. Didn't believe any of them. I spent $700 and would have spent another $3,000 to $4,000+ if I'd followed Kenny's advice. I ended up getting it fixed for $0 at the dealership. It was under warranty. You heard me. And it's running great. Now it's a case of no trust, so I'm on my way elsewhere. read more

Nothing like car issues to spoil a Disney vacation. Had an issue with a blown coil and plug on our ride from Delaware to Orlando. Was extremely concerned with being gauged for auto repairs in a resort town. Unfortunately, our resort was no help in getting a recommendation. Came across Sloan's. and noticed their high ratings on Google. I sent a Google business chat message to the shop at 10pm expecting a reply the next day. To my surprise, Kenny replied to my note that night and advised he would get back to me with an estimate the next day. He did get back to me as promised, and their estimate was considerably less than the next lowest estimate received. I dropped off the car the next morning, and it was ready by late afternoon. Kenny and Will could not have provided better service! We are so relieved to have our vehicle back, and we can now get back to stressing about Disney Fast Passes and Thunderstorms. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. They have free towing back to the shop in case anything does happen to your car. They have free loaner cars if the work takes longer than expected. This place has been a very 50/50 experience however my last two times going there I felt I was taken advantage of. Way overpriced. Uses fear tactic selling to get your emotions high and make a choice based off of fear. The past two times I dealt with Bernie and he makes comments I feel are unprofessional and inappropriate such as "you're like my kid" and "you have to understand how this makes me feel as a man" when I couldn't afford the almost $2,000 quote to fix my cooling system. The time before I changed my thermostat and was talked in circles about things I couldn't understand very well. I'm sure they do a good job but the last couple of times has made me feel very uncomfortable and I unfortunately don't see myself returning. Can't help but feel that because I'm a woman that trying to upsell me is encouraged. Bernie also made a comment about me not knowing how to do something he viewed as basic on my car, however it's not fair to judge someone on those things especially when you're the expert and you don't know someone's background if no one ever taught them. Prior to these experiences with Bernie I actually enjoyed going there. They used to print out pictures of everything in DETAIL about what was going on and why. They no longer do that at least not the last two times I've been there. Very disappointed, and will be looking for another place to take my car to. read more

They have great customer service, they'll take the time to explain the problem and the procedure/solution, and keep you up to date with each step of the process. My car was serviced there for the first time, and since they want to get to know your vehicle, I got an inspection report which was very detailed and a great reference to use to keep track of what to expect down the road. Rather than a vague list of what to have checked out, it'll provide details as to the recommended time to bring it in, what's going on, and how it can be resolved with their services. This is not my first review of Sloan's, but these guys go above and beyond and are deserving of another positive post. They have been working on my old 97 K1500 for the past few years now and have always treated me well. Being an older truck, it can be difficult at times to repair. My last visit was such a case. A CV seal job turned into needing a new differential thanks to stubborn old parts. It required days of extra work and I know they lost money on this job between the unexpected hours and parts. Nevertheless, I did not pay a penny over the original seal replacement estimate. In fact, I paid about $50 less. Additionally, they provided a free loaner vehicle due to the delay in completion, regardless of the fact that it was not their fault. I have a Ford F150 King Ranch and it finally reached over 100k miles. For the past month, it had a "low oil pressure engine light" that continues to go on every time I decelerate. This notification comes with a very annoying chime, so loud, it over powers my radio volume and bluetooth phone calls. This would go on and on every so many minutes when I drive, decelerate and stop the vehicle. It was extremely irritating. So I decided to go to Greenway Ford and they told me that they needed to diagnose at their hourly rate. The next day they called me back and said that they would need 6 hour diagnose because they could not figured it and had to go deeper. They also said that it would cost over $1,000 for the diagnose but if they figured out what the problem was, all I have to do is pay the parts and labor. I told them to proceed. I just want this alert and chime to stop. 2 days later, I called and it's not done. 5 days later, I called, still not done. Mind you, that Greenway Ford do not give a loaner, so I had no car. Thank Goodness I have a motorcycle to ride to work. 14 days later, they still couldn't figured it why. Yes...14 days !! Holy S#@! I asked how much longer and they said "no idea". I just couldn't wait any longer. They charged me $100 + , I paid and left. So, one day I was driving to work as the chime went on and on, I noticed SLOAN's Automotive on E Michigan st. Later that day, I started looking them up. They had 624 Reviews with 4.8 STARS !! I was impressed. So I made an appointment to drop it off the next morning. I dropped the truck off at 8am. Every one there was very courteous and professional. At around 5pm I received text link from SLOAN's Automotive with detailed information of what they've worked on with pictures!! WOW!! 10 minutes later they called and told me it was fixed and ready for pickup. Whaaat!!?? Did you say fixed ?!! I can't believe it. I went to pick it up, they greeted me and explained to me what they worked on. They replaced the"switch" amongst other things. What boggles my mind was, a million dollar company like Greenway Ford could not figured it out in 14 Days and SLOAN's Automotive figured it out in 9 hours !! I went home that day and felt like I drove a brand new King Ranch, not a single chime, I felt like I gained my hearing again for the first time. What a great feeling !! This is truly the BEST Automotive shop I have ever been into. Service was a amazing and everyone was awesome. And 2 days later they called me to see how the truck is doing. Don't expect that from Greenway Ford. SLOAN's Automotive has proven why they have 4.8 STARS with 624 reviews. Well, this would be their number 625 reviews and I rate them 5 STARS for their Service, Courtesy, Product and Knowledge. Anymore than this, they'll be a fine dining restaurant.
