Came here on tractor supplies recommendation. Bought a new head for a weed whacker, used it for one side of my driveway (50 feet) and the weed whacker broke. I tried to return the head after two days and they would not work with me at all. They said bc it was used, they could not return it. I didn't think I was being too unreasonable and I asked them if I cleaned it up and made it look brand new and they still said no. I asked if they could fix the weed whacker but they wanted $50 just to look at it. For the $60 for the head and $50 to look at it, I should have just bought a new whip for $200 lol. Idiots. No common sense. They can't keep technicians, half the time they have to work on things 2x to get it right. They refuse to work on a commercial mower they sold me because I won't buy a 2300$ seat from them to "fix" this issue for another 12 months. These people should start a business they know how to run and Debbie needs to get out of her own way and maybe she could keep a qualified technician and learn to run a dealership that sells lots of equipment. I gave them the model and serial number of my tractor and ordered $140 belt. They have a 14 day return policy. they sold me a belt that didn't fit the mower. it was their mistake and I was the 14 day window. They refused to do anything for me even though it was their fault. They wouldn't even give me $20 for the belt that was never used and still in its packaging, don't buy anything from them read more

I took my new tractor in for warranty service since there was a heavy smell of oil when using and will always blow a heavy blue smoke when starting that is definitely an oil smell. They told me nothing was wrong and to continue to use it as normal. They stated that they adjusted the valves and that I was shutting the tractor down wrong. The told me in order to shut the engine down properly, make sure to shut it down at full throttle, bringing the throttle down causes oil to pool in the exhaust. Lol, what kind of logic is that? Do they hammer the gas on their car when they shut it down? That statement is about as dumb as a blinker fluid joke. Anyways I called Simplicity and they directed me to another dealer in the area, they found that there is a manufacturing defect and I need a new engine. They also stated the engine has never been opened since factory seals are still in place so that tells me that Sloans most certainly did not open the engine and do anything to the valves. So the solution is a new engine since there is currently right about or right at 20 hours on the engine. Save your time and money and go to another dealer, especially since there are others in the area.. read more

Edited for clarity Took the carburetor from my antique Simplicity Landlord up there, because it was leaking and I didn't have time to rebuild it. Took it in in a Friday and was told it would be done that day or Saturday, middle of the next week at the latest, if parts needed to be ordered. It is now going on two weeks and when I called yesterday, they finally admitted they haven't even taken the carburetor apart, let alone ordered the parts to repair it. I had called each day (four times; once per day) that they were open since the middle of last week, each time I was told they were working on it and it would be ready either that day or the next. That was four chances they had to admit no one had gotten to my repair yet. Congratulations, you have lost customer. read more

I called to set up my cub cadet for servicing and a tire fix; was told it would be $65 for both if any additional they would contact me and they would keep my mower for 2-1/2 weeks Max but would be sooner. They had my lawn mower over 2 weeks; I had to call them multiple times before I was given an estimate of over $800, now it's going to cost me $250 for service and they didn't even check on what the warranty would cover but needed my receipt; gave that to them within an hour, was told they would call me back the next day or the latest the day after w what the warranty would cover...3 days later I call back and still no one has an answer for me or can't talk to me. I bought a new simplicity regent lawnmower from Sloan's and had a problem with said mower. They picked it up and when the Simplicity said it was within factory spec's they offered to replace it with another mower. I can't in recent memory recall any company offering to do this without a huge fight (discussion) on the finer points of returning a product you don't want. Sloan's did the right thing by me and will have my endorsement and business for a long time! read more

So I had the same very bad experience with customer service several years ago with the same person identified in other negative posts. Im writing now to applaud Sloan's for changing their service department and personal. I just returned from there and had a wonderful experience (like the old days). I was able to ask advice, test a switch and they helped me find the correct part I needed. I know it was a small sales they made this time but now I will definitely consider them when its time to make a large purchase where I never would have 5-6 years ago when the service was so poor. brought my riding mower in for servicing...I was pretty sure it was the starter. Four weeks later they call me and tell me they have to tear the motor a part, which I approved, then two weeks later they tell me it's the starter. Rider returned, lasted 4 weeks then broke down again...now they tell me it's the regulator...the regulator should have been something checked the first time around...now another 4-6 weeks. In the meantime I have spent $200 to get my yard mowed and I am on a very fixed income which means meals and medication skipped to pay for the mower read more

My husband and I took are time shopping for our zero turn lawn mower. We visited several dealers and looked at many different makes and models. We finally decided to buy local at Sloan's. Not only were they extremely patient with all of your questions, they had so much knowledge on the products. We are so happy with our purchase and so grateful for the Sloan's staff. A few weeks ago we were getting ready for a birthday party at our house and the lawn mower stopped in the middle of the lawn. We called and they sent someone out with in 20 minutes to take a look at it. He fixed it right there (it stopped because of something I did) He explained what happened and took the time to show us how to easily resolve it if it happened again. We couldn't get that kind of service if we hadn't bought local. We are 100% satisfied with our experience and purchase! Definitely recommend Sloan's read more

I took one of their products in for repair. There is not "terrible" customer service - there is NO customer service. When they originally opened the owner had hands on service, but not now. I dealt with two women who were not customer oriented, were condescending, and argumentative. I don't have a problem dealing with women if they know what they are talking about and are helpful. They charged a fee up front before they would even look at your item - :because they have gotten burned before". (Here's a tip: your competitors don't charge). Not to mention their lack of customer friendly hours. They close at 5:00 and had not started their "summer hours". How about trying one evening a week being open until 6 or 6:30? People get into business and then forget that they are a "SERVICE" industry. Both times in the store I walked around looking at products and never once was I approached by a salesperson or any staff. I got my item back after repair and it was not even wiped clean of oil and sawdust. Not only does your competitors clean the repaired item, they even offer to take it to your car for you. I don't even know why I should be giving customer service tips - if you can't figure it out, it's your problem. With the extreme amount of inventory and overhead you have and the lack of sales and customer service, I would be surprised if you are in business another 2 yrs. I have never, in my entire life, had worse customer service than was received here. I also like to try to shop local, but will have to make the exception here. I have been waiting 3 weeks for a part for my lawnmower. The first week the one that came in was wrong and then they argued with me when I showed the the number on the part that came off the mower. They finally agreed to order that, but when I went in a week later to pick it up, she advised she had forgotten to order it and what did I want her to do. No apology, nothing. Since it was already paid for, I requested she order it. Another week goes by and no part again today. And they could seem to care less. Meanwhile I am having to pay someone to mow my lawn due to their incompetence. read more

Horrible Customer Service, how does the owner of a business treat a customer so poorly. Business won't be good for long it they think people are disposable. They way I was treated was beyond unacceptable. I will never go there again. We dropped off our riding mower for maintenance and overall check. They came back with a quote just shy of $800. It didn't seem to make sense so we did some price checking. When we went back with our findings, needless to say there was a significant amount of money they could not account for and offered no explanation. Since the mower was already there we agreed to the original basic maintenance that we had originally planned on. They said they had a 1 week turnaround, needless to say it was more like 2.5 weeks. Upon getting our mower home we find that headlight casing is broken and the it is just laying underneath the hood, they mower battery compartment was still filled with dirt and debris. The bushings that hold the hood in place were never put back on so the hood came right off. I went back so to discuss my findings, they offered to take care of things, but then an hour later their employee informs be that they will take care of the bushings that they forgot to put back on but they could not cover the broken headlight casing and sorry they didn't finish cleaning up the mower they are really busy right now. He told me I needed to speak to the owner. So I made another trip back to discuss this situation and was told by the owner that they are not responsible and we must have broken it on our way home. I said I don't understand it wasn't broken when dropped it off. She insisted that is was not their problem and we must have broken it on our way home. Unbelievable. read more
