Sloomoo Institute surprised me. With a steep price tag of over $50 per adult and child ticket, I was skeptical. It looked too gimmicky like the Museum of Ice Cream. However, my slime-loving nine-year-old daughter really wanted to go. As a surprise, I took her. (To save money, only have one adult go.) Here's our experience. 1) Admission: On a Friday afternoon in April, we were able to get tickets online easily. DO NOT WALK IN. You can, but it's the most expensive way to experience Sloomoo. Google promo codes first that work online. A quick Google search revealed three promo codes from influencers that took 20-30% off our tickets. 2) Experience: Once your tickets are scanned and an online waiver is filled out, you'll write your "slime name" on a name tag. Pass through a hall about the history of slime and you're inside the main area. There are several rooms of "buckets" filled with all types of slime with different textures and scents. This was pretty fun and was very relaxing dipping your hands in slime. (Don't worry- you have to wipe your hands clean beforehand with a wipe. There are wipe stations everywhere.) There are a few interactive areas like a giant sling shot, a musical room, a tablet where you pick your slime companion, and a place where you're blindfolded and feel different things in slime holes. (It's not as weird as that sounds.) Part of the experience is making your own slime. You pick what type of slime you want, the scent, the color, and three charms. This took about 20-30 minutes since there are so many scents to pick from. We landed on creamy cloud slime with the passion fruit rose scent, aqua green, and three fruit charms. At the very end, there's an area where you can take off your shoes and walk through slime. Again, you wipe off your feet before and after. Still, if you don't think about how gross it is, it's a unique and fun feeling. 3) Space: There's a single restroom at the start of the museum, but due to a line, staff let us in the staff basement where there are three additional bathrooms. At the very end is a store with all types of slime, slime molds, kits, and more. Our daughter spent $47 of her own money on two slime kits and activator. It's very pricey so limit how much you spend. As a staff member told a kid, "Nothing is free here." 4) Staff: This is where it was a little off. Several staff were a bit odd with the kids. One staff member by the slime making area made a few inappropriate jokes around little kids. Often, staff had to be called to each station so waiting is expected. None were friendly or warm for working with kids. Overall, Sloomoo Institute is worth the experience if you are willing to shell out the money. Our daughter LOVED it and I was surprised how much I did too for having low expectations. However, I'd NEVER come back with that price tag. It's almost offensive. read more

We had an amazing time over the weekend. We did the 9am reservation and we had the first half hour to ourselves in the whole place. The slime music was cool, getting slimed on was awesome and my daughter loved making the different slimes from the scent to the color to the charms. Highly recommend for any slime lover! read more

So happy to have been able to check out Sloomoo around the Halloween season. On selected days, they give out Haribo candies in a black cauldron around the experience. Got 11am tickets and went in shortly before. There was no line but on weekends it can get crowded. Was handed tickets to be given back for exchange of slime container later on in the experience. You start by writing a name tag of your slime name. Then you go to the 1st station where you get to touch the slime and stick it to a structure. You can go into a booth where slime is sling shot at you where it hits a glass and you try not to flinch. Other experiences include vats of different kind of slime to touch and play. You choose a type of slime and are giving a container of it and you can add scents and charms along the way. There are tables and chairs along the side with sanitizing wipes provided. There is also a small play area where you are asked to take off your shoes to experience. You end in the gift shop. Overall, fun experience that doesn't take too much time. Can get crowded due to school trips, birthday parties, or the weekend. read more

This is my second time going here and it was honestly such a good time. I love the new groovy room and this time around we got the enchanted tickets. So my daughter got slime poured on her and she had so much fun. Frank helped us with everything and he was so helpful and polite and patient. The whole staff was still nice. The one thing I will say that I didn't like they change the charms . the charms are flat now and sloomoo brand. I'm guessing from the way they look and they're not as cute. Great place, went for my daughters Birthday!...DON'T waste your money on the KITCHEN TOUR! The tour is great if you're an adult, or slime conissuer but totally not worth $15/person. The kids smelled and touched a few things, but thats literally what you do through out the museum. I thought they might get to make a mini slime or something. Before you can go in you need to have tickets so we bought tickets online right outside on our phones. There's a QR code on their window if you need it. They also have a complimentary coat check which was nice because we went in November and were able to check in our coats. The staff were very friendly and enthusiastic despite how crowded it can get. They seemed to genuinely like working there. There's bathrooms, a hand washing station and hand wipe stations which were convenient since it was a very high touch place. You get to pick the type, smell, color and charms for your slime. Black didn't come out very black, it was more like gray. Also you can't add other things to make them crunchy, but they sell little packets in their gift shop. Also, slime counts as a liquid for TSA. They ran out of TSA approved containers when we went. Overall, I think we spent about 2 hours and my daughter had a lot of fun. The other families were respectful and were good about taking turns if an area was crowded. read more

Brought our daughters (11 and 9) here on a recent trip to New York. My daughters got into slime making during Covid and they still make batches of it from time to time so this place was made for them. This is an interactive slime experience. There are batches of every slime variation under the sun for you to touch and play with, various other rooms with mirrors and interactive video screens, an obstacle course (for the younger ones, and ASMR area (which was my favorite) and the area where you can make your own slime to take home. There is also a spot where you can get slimed (for an extra fee). We watched a few people get slimed which involved people wearing ponchos while colored, slightly gooey water is poured on them from above. I think it was more entertaining to watch people getting slimed than having it poured over you. You can take your time going through it and I would encourage you to do so because at $40-$47 it's not cheap for a family of 4. They also try to squeeze a couple more bucks out of you with the slime gift shop right at the exit. Overall it was a fun experience and we had a great time. read more

Cute place but over the top overpriced and overrated. The building area is not all that big. All in one space /floor. Broken down in about 5-6 rooms then a large space where you can pick your own slime based on what you played with and touched. Pick your own smell and 3 charms. Then you can add on the slime drop which is $30 extra where someone is above and they literally poor multiple pitchers of slime on top of your head. Your feet get messy. Not worth it to me but hey if your child wants to do it. Go for it. When you are all done with the slime area before you exit to the gift shop you can walk on slime. You are asked to take off shoes and socks. Wipe them off and there is a 15-20 mins time where you can be in that area. You walk out to more slime and sloomoo items that you can purchase. Had so much fun at this place over the weekend with my 7 year old. The ticket price includes the experience inside plus make your own slime. You can go quickly through or take your time playing with all the slime. Each slime has a card that explained what it's good for etc. we got to watch a few groups get slimed too (this is an add on cost to get slimed) When you make your slime, you pick which base you want, scent, color, and then 3 charms. Ends with an obstacle course area. Really cool concept! read more

BUYER BEWARE. Some sections will be closed without notice. I purchased 9 tickets for a birthday party. They closed the Slime Falls early and Sloobratory was not open at all. When I asked their staff about it. Multiple employees said they were short staff as management told some workers not to come in. I said maybe business is slow, maybe it's the weather (It was February), she said no, they just chose to cut the staff. When I asked for a contact, she told me to write a review instead because management will not do anything about it. She was right. The insane thing is, they went so far as to change their website when I disputed it with the bank for a partial refund. Note in my screenshots several areas on their website state "The self-paced experience lasts 60-90 minutes. All guests receive equal time and access regardless of their time slot." This is no longer on their website except where they forgot to remove it from their FAQ's at the time of this review. Who knows, You might pay and experience nothing and still won't get a refund as their policy states. Good luck with Sloomoo. You get what you get and you don't get upset. There are other slime experiences and fun honest places for your kiddos in NYC. read more

I wouldn't waste your money. You pay an extravagant amount of money ($50) each to play with slime and make your own slime. The AC was also out so it was very uncomfortable. It was overstimulating and over priced. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. Go buy your kid some slime at a toy store. read more

We recently visited the Sloomoo Institute with some friends for my son's 6th birthday. My kiddos are huge slime fans, and we don't really like them playing with slime in the house, so this outing was PERFECT. There were was a lot of different slime centered activities for the kids to enjoy. We basically followed a U pattern to complete the activities. Each entry ticket allows the kids, and adults to create their own slime. They get to select the type of slime they would like, the color, scent, and then at the end they even get to add 3 little toys to the slime. The staff was very nice, and helped with the kids. The place was crowded as we went during spring break! I'd definitely recommend this activity with the kiddos! read more

Really disappointing experience. The employees were rude and acted like helping customers was a burden- one with an annoying fake voice that turned on or off depending on if the customer was coming or going. . Once inside, there's very little to do. It felt like such a small experience and totally overpriced for what you get. To top it off, there was a cockroach in the restroom, which was pretty gross. My family and I brought the package to have the slime dropped on top of us. I will say that it's around 75 a pop which is very expensive. (Regular is about 50) As a one time experience, I think it's okay. The institute acts like an interactive museum for slime lovers. If you LOVE slime this is absolutely worth it as you also make your own slime, and touch a whole bunch of different ones as well. Place is relatively clean despite a flurry of kids and the staff are very friendly. It does suck that children do not receive a discount and are the same price as adults no matter how young. Sloomoo was really fun and interactive, my kids loved slime and was so fascinated by it. There was so many opportunities to play with slime, very colorful and at the end was the best part because we all created our own slime. We got to pick out a color, smell, accessories, glitter and more! We truly enjoyed ourselves here. Definitely worth the price and everything about it is just right. Except for the one public restroom they have. Anyway, it's a cute little small spot but perfect the way they have everything timed so you never feel like it's too crowded. Staff were wonderful, and the experience was amazing as well. When you walk in you get a name tag. You are greeted and you take some slime and throw it on the slime wall and get to take a picture next to it. Honestly I didn't realized that there were different types of slime and textures I'm pretty sure I enjoyed it as much as my 10 year old. Next you do have the option of getting slimed which is kind of cool just very messy to me. You can skip getting slimed and just walk right over to the making your own slime stations. Each entry fee comes with a complimentary slime you make. It's well worth it. I love the fact that they have different type of texture of slimes out that you can feel and of course right next to it that have sanitizing wipes so it doesn't completely gross you out. They also have a scent wall, yes you read it right a whole wall of scents you can choose from so you can have great smelling slime. It takes about 1.5 hours to visit and experience the whole institute. We definitely skipped the part of walking and playing in slime. My daughter was not into that lol. read more

If you're an adult who isn't crazy about slime (like me) it's not worth the $50 but I gave it a 4/5 since I know I'm not exactly the target audience for this exhibit You can stay in this "museum" as long as you want. There are many activities for kids (or adults/slim lovers) which is mainly just buckets of slime. Towards the end, you can create your own slime (base, glossy-ness, colors, scent and charms) which made for a fun souvenir. Slimemoo cost $50 on a Saturday afternoon, per person. When you enter you are asked to write your name on a name tag. I thought there would've been an experience where you would mingle with people or like a class session where strangers would need to know your name but it wasn't. We were then entertained by a slingshot slime ran by an employee. . The entire room was filled with large cups of slime for everyone to touch and experience. All of them were scented and had a description of its texture. You can play with it as long as you want. Then, there is a section where you can have slime thrown all over you. Not quite like Nickelodeon, but it costs an extra $32pp. They are equipped with one bathroom, one toilet. The place is bright and colorful and filled with slime joy, however the employees don't appear so happy to be there ... less than half were smiling... for $50pp and 1 hour, I need ecstatic individuals and even a tour guide to teach us and show us around the small institute. There were about 3 rooms and one playarea for 5 min. Of course there's a gift shop prompting to buy more slime even though you ate already given one for free. I would not go again, and would not recommend going because it is nothing much to see and well overpriced. read more

This place was really cool, thank you Yelp and MC Katey for the tickets!!! I went with my partner to have a fun little date. Our appointment time was at 4pm on Friday. This place closes at 5 so we were cutting it close. They scanned our tickets and gave us 2 tickets to receive/make our own slime. We got to feel alot of the slime and our favorite was the color changing slime that changed with the warmth of your hands. We got to make our slime and it was very entertaining. We also walked through the slime floor and I almost slipped with how slippery the slime was on the mat. It was very entertaining. We enjoyed ourselves a lot but there wasn't much to do which is why I'm only giving it 4/5 stars. The staff was very friendly and amhally to chat with us and answer any of our questions. read more

Amazing place for families and children to experience. It is an interactive slime installation. Thank you to Yelp and Katey G. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our experience at Sloomoo Institute even tho it is more for children. We love slime, so it was a fun experience for us. We got to make our slime by choosing texture, scent, color, and charms. Also, there are fun sensory stands with different types of slime for children/families to touch. At the end of the experience, there is a mini playground for children to play in. There is a gift shop that has pretty neat stuff. There were "food" and "bubble tea" slime and they also had Halloween theme slime as well. This is a great place for families with children. read more

Adorable! My kids (ages 5 & 4) and their cousins (ages 12 & 10) all had an absolute blast. The whole thing took a little over an hour which is great. Not too long of a day for any of us. Each ticket gets you one make-your-own slime to take home where you get to pick your type, smell, color & add-ins. The whole thing was a very hands on sensory experience. If your little one is sensitive to smells, maybe bring a mask for the make your own part. My 4 yr old got very nauseous with all the scents when we got to that section. He was fine before and after. The best part (for the kids as they've stated a million times since) was the slime playground. The floor is made of slime that they can take their socks off and run through. This is either a 5 or a 2. For my 11 year old slime obsessed daughter... It's a 5+. I wondered how we could be in a small place for very long. Well when you have someone who can play with each slime vat for 5-10 minutes, it isn't hard to stay for almost two hours. So the setup pretty simple. There's about twenty vats of different types of slime to play with plus you build your own. The other things at the "museum" are pretty quick - slingshot, slime pile, walk on slime, ASMR stuff. We did the first timeslot of the day which I recommend. It was a busy Monday holiday and it definitely got backed up. I thought the staff was energetic and kind. It was pretty clean in the museum but the bathroom was a little gross. Why it would be a 2 for many adults who did not grow up slime obsessed: it's $48 to touch a bunch of slime with kids running around everywhere, with one slime to keep. I don't think that's a great value proposition for many adults. But this was the highlight of my daughter's trip and a memory she'll keep forever. read more

I took my kids here to do the experience on a Sunday and it was no problem getting tickets the day of. I got them online and almost every time slot was available. Upon arrival, there is a shop that non-ticketed people can go into with one slime pit you can play in. We signed our waivers and washed our hands and were taken into the first room to watch the orientation video. From there, we were on our own to explore. We could have spent as long as we wanted in there. The first area was a large slime wall where you can add your own slime and watch it drip. From there, there were a ton fo different slime buckets you could feel, play with, and smell. You learn about the slime as well. There is a thing where you can shoot a slime ball with a large slingshot at someone behind glass, this was fun! There were some trivia booths, ASMR sounds, and even a class to attend. We did not pay extra to get slimed, but we watch as people did, getting slime showered. At the end, you get to choose and make your own slime. From the color, small, and texture, you get to pick it all and add some charms. There is a small play area where kids can play on small structures. It was a good experience, but a but pricey for what you get. We spent over an hour there. read more

Initially when my 9 year old begged to go here I said " no" due to the steep admission price and small venue where I knew we'd only be one hour max. After thinking about how much she adores slime and how she has spent more of her allowance in the past year on slime, I changed my mind and splurged for the tickets. Easy entry, well run, well staffed, fun. She absolutely loved it. I'd recommend it for anyone bringing a young child ages 3-10. There are various rooms where you can 1) put slime on a slime wall 2) olay with slime in a glow in the dark slime room 3) sling slime onto a clear wall 4) play with slime in containers with plastic sand toys 5) design your own slime complete with scent as well as select 3 charms for the slime 6) jump in a pile of squishy toys and jump into a pile of slime. There is a gift shop at the end. The museum is quite small and kids with a short attention span might move through it super quick making it not worth it in that scenario. We took our time though and spend a good hour and 15 minutes there. Pure smiles and joy for my 9 year old. Success! read more

It was amazing when you first walked in can you put slime on a wall then you play with all these different textures of slime they're amazing kids from all ages. Will enjoy this when you make your slime you choose from a Bajillion amount of textures then you go get it with your special ticket you and your kids will go smell over 100 cents then go pick your amazing color next you will go mix it in and then you will go get three amazing charms as well get mixed into your slime. There's a fun little sensory area but you could put your feet and slime and everything. That's really nice at the end, there's a very nice gift shop. Everything is very reasonable and this is just an amazing place and I very much recommend. read more

Very fun place! Even though I came with my adult sister with no kids - we enjoyed touching all the different slimes and trying to make our own slime bubbles. Creating our own slime is fun too! After avoiding crowds for years thanks to the pandemic I couldn't stop thinking about all the germs we were picking up here at the Sloomoo Institute. I guess we will find out in a few days, but in the meantime my 11 year old left with the biggest smile...and tub of slime. We met friends here with kids ages 3-8 and all of them + my 11 year old thought it was the best place ever. It's basically a room of chaos where you play with slime, make slime and even walk in slime...but whoever came up with this is either a genius or insane. Maybe both?
