Ok, so file this in the probably-shouldn't-admit-this-but-here-we-go-anyways.. Our daughter had her first dental visit here this week, and she's five. I think you're supposed to take them around two or three, but then the pandemic happened, life happened, and, well, here we are. She gets pretty nervous for the doctor, so she was certainly nervous for this. However, the friendly staff here is so experienced and so helpful that her first check up and cleaning went splendidly. No wait either, which is so nice because it cuts down any lingering anxiety. Our baby tagged along for the visit and they gave her some toys to keep her entertained. The dentist was gentle, explanative, helpful and overall great. Additionally, we knocked out all the insurance paperwork easily beforehand on their website. A highlight for my daughter was when they let her pick a toothbrush and a prize on the way out of the door. Glad to find our pediatric dentist in KCMO (without having to drive out into the 'burbs), and really recommend them. I was leaning towards just making an appointment at my "grown-up" dentist, but after seeing how thoughtful and geared towards children this is, I recommend them, or at least a pediatric dentist if you're seeking out what to do for your kiddo(s).

He and his staff are absolutely wonderful. They clearly love kids and know how to interact with them. They make us feel so relaxed and special when we come. They explain everything thoroughly and don't force us into products and procedures we aren't fully comfortable with. Plus, the office is gorgeous. I love great interior design and this place is so clean and warm and welcoming, and very kid friendly, with soft furnishings and bright colors. I don't know what was…read moregoing through my head but we arrived an hour early (I had even written down the correct time in my calendar). the woman who checked us in told me that it would probably be at least 45 minutes, but they had a play room and we were welcome to stay. since I had a few errands to run, we did those and then headed back and went straight into the playroom. it didn't hurt that my little guy's favorite movie (Toy Story 3) was playing. about 10 minutes later, the hygienist came to get us. my little guy loved laying back in the chair and brushing the stuffed fish's teeth. he was very cooperative, but while we were waiting for the dentist, he was starting to get antsy. she arrived moments later and had a padded board so he could lay across our knees so she could look at his teeth. she was great with him and he even let her put a polish over his teeth without being too squirmy. she gave me a lot of great advice about when to give him juice and milk and reassured me that the binky he uses to sleep isn't messing up his teeth. she also showed me the best way to brush his teeth. my little guy even had the honor of being the best patient of the morning and for that he was able to grab and extra toy out of the toy box. I only hope all of his dentist experiences are this painless.

We went from tears in the parking lot to smiles within two minutes. The receptionist was so upbeat and engaging with her and of course the fun wall decor and cartoons on the TV helped. Our hygienist was fun and so knowledgeable in her recommendations. She was sure to involve my daughter throughout the process and kept her laughing and smiling. The dentist kept it going and they were both sure to smother her in compliments. I felt the cleaning was smooth and thorough as well. The office is dated and needs some upgrading but it was clean and welcoming to children. There are fun walls everywhere as well as TVs. Once the visit is over they get a token to choose a toy out of a dispenser. Brilliant idea!

I've never been to another pediatric dentist, but I don't imagine it gets better than this. My kids…read morelove it and one is normally terrified of the dentist. It was actually because of her that we started going to Jenkins and LeBlanc. It is true that they won't let you stay with the child if the child is being put under anesthesia for dental work, but you are there before they fall asleep and back in there before they wake up. In addition, they are being monitored the entire by an anesthesiologist. I know a lot of people don't like this, but you wouldn't expect to be in the operating room with the surgeon, and that's a similar situation.

I have super severe dentist anxiety. I will go super far out of my way to avoid going to the…read moredentist. But one day I finally succumbed to my fate and made an appointment. I dreaded it for DAYS but when the moment finally came, I was stressed out yes, but the staff were super nice and friendly and I was eligible for gas which lessened my anxiety by A LOT. Also they always kept me in the loop as to what they were doing and I was never belittled or made to feel like I was an awful person (I am super self-conscious about my teeth) and they actually made a plan with me for future appointments. 100/10, the best dental experience I've ever had and they are GREAT with dental anxiety. Will definitely be going back. My only critique is the office in Lawrence is a liiiiittle difficult to spot if you don't know what you're looking for. But I'd say it's worth it.

My second appt was a cleaning also with Dr. Jessup, I was happy with that as well, they were nice and informative. And I had zero pain during the cleaning. My third appt was to get some cavities filled by Dr Jessup, I had no issues with pain before the fillings but now am in a lot of pain and it's been 4 months since then. So I was not happy with that. I went in today for a cleaning from Dr Hutchinson, she was super kind and helpful on a plan to get my tooth to no longer hurt, she said that the filling I was given needed to be fixed and that should solve the pain. Overall I would definitely reccomend the office as the desk gals and hygienists are wonderful and so is Dr Hutchinson but I wouldn't reccomend seeing Dr Jessup. Also the location is kind of interesting to get to but once you've gone once it'll be a breeze to get to again. They do have a parking lot which I appreciate, and the office is very cozy and clean inside as well!

They do great work .. however their policy is trash !!…read more They constant want to book you on their time even if you do not have the money to get service .. you tell them you will contact them when you have funds to get the work so you are not billed ... they then make these appointments with out your approval and if you miss them or call and cancel the appointments they schedule they DROP YOUR KIDS FOR LIFE.. If they change the policy they could get a higher rating ! I think it's a ruthless practice of booking people and then dropping them when they say hey this is not gonna work ! Apparently our insurance wasn't updated, which led to a very long wait and suddenly made us feel like we were trying to finance a yacht instead of a kid's teeth cleaning. I totally understand insurance issues happen, but after years of coming here, being treated like strangers trying to dodge a bill was not exactly the warm fuzzy pediatric dentist experience you hope for. So, friendly advice: triple-check your insurance before you go. They absolutely will not see you without it, and your child may have enough time in the waiting room to learn orthodontics themselves.
