I get why they only have a 2.5 star rating. I'm surprised it's not lower than that! The first time I brought my cat in I was told the visit would be around $80 (which it was before the extras and this was her first time there.) Fast forward two months and I bring in my other kitten and they charged me $48 more for a 'new sick cat' fee. I called up there yesterday to try to get this issue resolved and the receptionist said she would have the owner contact me then I was hung up on. The owner never bothered to reach out. I went into the office today where one owner refused to talk to me and Renee said the other owner Dr. Biwer was part time and does the financial part but doesn't have an exact schedule and I could try to get in touch with him in a week. Came in on a Saturday for my dog's dewclaw bleeding and hanging. They were able to see me but charged me an emergency visit fee. The vet did a regular check as I've never been there. The vet and vet tec. took her to the back to cut her nail down. They bandaged her foot up and gave me pain pills for her. As well as instructions on what to do with bandage. They followed up Tuesday to see how she was doing. She was acting like nothing happened. Our follow up appointment they just checked her nail and said it was good. The staff is nice and professional. I like that they take care-credit. The two vets I saw are married and seem to be new to this office. I overheard the staff saying the other vet is having medical issues so they aren't able to book him. I like they are open later than other vets in town and are open Monday-Saturday. Which is convenient for those of us who work 7-5 jobs. read more

I will NEVER go back to this clinic. I don't appreciate being dressed down by one of your employees when I had a legitimate complaint. I scheduled shots for my cat during an exam in January. I SPECIFICALLY asked what the charges would be for each appointment. I was SPECIFICALLY told that I would being paying for a booster shot in this visit. At no time was I ever told that I would be paying for yet another exam fee. Instead, I was forced to pay an additional $60 for a new exam. I VERY CLEARLY asked exactly how much the fees would be beforehand. It is wrong to quote me a price and than add fees on top of that. It is even more wrong to dress me down after I raised the issue at checkout. This is NO WAY to treat a client. You have NO RIGHT to talk to a customer as rudely as your employee did. You have lost a client and a great deal of good will. I will certainly never forget this negative experience!!!!! read more

I have had only stellar experiences with all the staff. I like that they are a "cat friendly" clinic. I highly recommend Dr. Andrea Campbell - she is so sweet, takes time to really listen. She gives me a breakdown of fees for lab work, so I can choose what's affordable for me. I feel the prices were very reasonable. My Calico has a sensitive stomach and food allergies. Dr. Andie suggested a prescription diet, and she was doing just fine for over 2 years, until she developed some constipation. Dr. Andie recommended a prescription pro-biotic (I tried the pet store brand, and it didn't work for her) Now she acts like a young cat. read more

took my dog to be seen for a growth on the leg, after bloodwork was completed they said i needed to just change my dogs diet but everything else looked unremarkable, which they said was good. fast forward to yesterday i took my dog to get a 2nd opinion and found out its cancer... even after they said i had nothing to worry about and its most likely nothing... went back and looked at the bloodwork and saw that the bloodwork was infact NOT unremarkable and showed obvious signs that something was already wrong back in December... Some of your staff are incompetent as not informing me when a pet needed a urine test on my last visit. One of your staff called me an "ass hole" because I decided not to have mosquitoes med. which is a poison. Besides you have held me and my pet hostage by not providing enough prescribed medications until his visit. Lacy the receptionist is appropriate and has empathy. The other receptionist initiated arguments and was not respectful to me and I observed other customers not treated well too. Your facility is dirty, not sanitary with no running water in the exam room I told to be on my visits. Besides many other concerns, your staff are not even able to trim my 2 small pet's nails. Last year, my Tata's dog had to be put down. He was in a lot of pain and my Nana brought him here. When she brought him in, they took him to the back and euthanized him-- but that's not the worst part. The worst part is when my Nana asked if he can bring his body back to their house to bury him, they told her that she can't bring the body home with her. What kind of "animal clinic" refuses to let you bring your pet home to bury them?? The very least they could've done is put him in a box for her to bring home, but no. She tried to stamp his paw print on a piece of paper to no avail, so we don't have a physical reminder of him. We don't know what they did with his body, for all we know, they could've thrown him in the trash. I do not recommend this place if you want a caring environment you can let your pet go in. I took my dog in to be seen for an ear infection, I have a 10 week old golden retriever that happened to be the runt. She has a skin allergy so I made her ears hurt her. I usually take my animals to another animal clinic but can't get her seen until August 8 so I got her in at this animal vet clinic make a long story short I really didn't like the service I answered any questions the vet Tech asked etc .. she asked me where I got my dog from and I told her from a lady was selling them here in town. She leaves the room. She comes back in with the vet a few minutes later, the first thing that the vet said out of her mouth was I hear you have a hammy down golden retriever my answer was no I don't have a hammy down golden retriever. I have a golden retriever and her name is Dot .I do understand that there are breeders out there that do bad but I also have four rescues Either way if I bought an animal from a rescue or a animal from someone selling puppies all animals need homes and I feel like I do my part. This place should be taken off your list of establishments to take your pet. They overcharge for everything. They seem to care more about money than getting the proper care for your animal. Nearly $25 for a simple nail trim. I've worked for vets offices and I've been to plenty of other vet offices to know that the small animal clinic is ripping you off. They should be ashamed of themselves for making clients pay through their noses and suggesting/ pushing treatments that are costly, instead of offering alternatives. Not impressed. First visit and that's all it took to never come back. First off, I was not allowed to come inside or see inside the building at all due to "covid". So they make you give your animal up at your car and then watch them drag the scared animal into a building where you have no idea what's going on. Even the hospitals allow visitors right now with covid, but you want me to just leave my scared puppy with a stranger? Which brings me to the second issue. The tech who came to take the animal was not friendly. They weren't rude to be fair or anything, but you would think a animal specialist would allow a dog to sniff you or get to know you for at least a minute before you drag them away from their owner. My dog is very friendly and doesn't bark at all, yet she literally was dragging herself and barking to avoid going with the tech. Which I believe a lot of that would've been avoided if they would've just taken a moment to make the dog feel comfortable. And lastly, it took 1 hour and 42 minutes to have a simple service done! Overall it was just a poor experience as a whole. There's nothing that made me super angry, but not one part of it was I satisfied with. And ultimately I just hope my dog doesn't have anxiety issues coming to the vet from now on; and I couldn't even tell you if they did get their treatment done or not....bc Nobody was there to witness it. I'm new to Casa Grande and looking for a new Vet. My prior Vet, Grand Paws Animal Clinic, in Surprise, AZ was the absolute best I've had in 55 yrs. They don't charge for the 1st visit of any animal. My 1st choice was this clinic. The person who answered the phone was abrupt and said the costs of routine visits was $63. What? She was off-putting to talk to. I told her I was searching and would call back if I didn't find anyone else. The second call I made, the person answering was very nice, inquired as to the extent of the problem my cat has, quoted the routine cost (1/2 of SMC) and costs for the 3 levels of visit they have. I made an appointment with them. Businesses in small towns need to understand that 1st impressions, in person or via phone, are important. In YELP reviews is talk of this clinic being $$ hungry. Took my Husky in for a check up and to update him on a few vital vaccinations. The staff was great! Everybody was really helpful and explained everything to me throughout the entire process. They even called me the next day to check on Sky and see how he was doing after the vaccines. They really care and they definitely go the extra mile to make you feel a part of the family. We were still not allowed to go inside or see inside the building at all due to "covid" even after the bans have been completely lifted in the state of Arizona. After a year, I would think it is ridiculous and to force us to stay outside for over an hour in 100+ degrees is cruel & uncaring to their paying customers!! They make you sit in your car until they are ready to come out where you must give up you pet and then watch them drag the scared animal into a building where you have no idea what's going on. And then, they have the nerve to ask for a review on how they "treated" your pet. How on earth would we know what they did or if they did anything??? Even the hospitals allow visitors right now with covid, but you want me to just leave my scared cat with a stranger for over an hour? It was just a poor experience overall and already have found other animal clinics much closer to home that allow you to come in with your pet and not have to wear a mask! The mask mandates have been lifted and why are animal tech's coming "outside" with their masks on to begin with?? Is the covid outside in our atmosphere too? If so, those masks are not going to do any good anyhow since your skin is exposed. Guess they better start looking into NASA for space suits to protect them if they are that scared! read more

I decided to take my 13 year old chichuahua in to have back legs looked at. The doctor said it was arthritis and gave me some pills that were $40.00. About 4 days later my dog stopped eating so I called the vet and the receptionist told me not to give anymore pills to the dog and she would let the vet know. Never got a phone call back, so I called again the next morning and they said for me to take the dog to an emergency, they were booked. Seriously, you are the one who gave me the pills?? So I took the dog to St. Mark Animal Hospital and $700 later they saved my dogs life! Great Vet!! Oh and he said my dog did not have arthritis, he has knees that pop in and out of joint and there is nothing I can do about that. I asked Small Animal Clinic if they would refund me the money for the pills and they said no cause the bottle was opened. read more

My dog has allergies and last year they gave me shampoo that worked well, so today (Saturday) I call in and ask if I can come by and pick some more shampoo because she is really miserable--they close in 30 mins. No way, I have to come in and pay for a visit even though this is all in her records. Well, obviously I can't come in til next week, so she can just suffer I guess. A word that comes to mind when I think out about our visit is ethical. They told us what was available and the pros and cons of each. There was no hard sell. The staff was attentive and careful with each animal. For two animals we paid a reasonable amount. The dog is always more expensive than the cat. He told me when he was told about Obie's passing when he came into work on Friday, he was in shock. Obie was his buddy. Whenever I'd take Obie in for a check up, Curtis would take the time to pop into the examination room to say "hi" or come out to the waiting room to pet Obie. My wife and I are full time RV'ers who just recently acquired a new Boston Terrier puppy. While staying at an RV Park in Eloy, AZ we needed to get our puppy a 12 Week Distemper Booster shot. We searched vets in the area and settled on Small Animal Clinic. What a great choice! Vets is one thing we have experience with as our previous dog, also a Boston Terrier, suffered from PLE(Protein Losing Enteropathy). This disease necessitated regular visits to a vet for checkup and blood work. So, we've seen a few. This Clinic was impressive. When you have customers, waiting like we were to see the vet, extolling the virtues of the place, you know it has to be special. We were not disappointed. The vet and staff were some of the nicest people. We got our dog her shot and the next morning(a Saturday) we got a call to check on her to be sure everything was all right. I can say for sure that if we lived in this area, they would be our vet of choice. read more

My dog has only ever needed shots, but they have always treated myself and my dog very well, and I have never had to wait very long. Horrible Pet Care. As an animal lover I want the best care for my loved ones at all times. I felt like I was in a used car lot by the time I left this place. The vet was smug and uninterested in my pets concerns. Their primary concern was up-selling unnecessary tests and products. Literally 2 min was spent on examining the actual pet and 45 min was spent trying to sell me very expensive dog food and random blood tests that I felt were only a rue to get more money out of me. Total estimated bill was going to be $300 with these up-sells. Instead of explaining to me that my dog may have a lack of fiber in her diet and showing me ways I could improve that, the nurse was sent back 3 times while I waited in a room with my sick dog to try and sell me $75 dog food with fiber in it. The dog has arthritis and has been taking medication for that for 3 years now. The vet would not renew this medication unless I spent $150 additional money to run extra tests on top of the $100 visit I was already expected to pay. This was my first visit and it will be my last, drive your pet into the Phx area for a quality experience. read more

I hate giving this place such a low rating compared to my last rating but here is why - Our favorite vet is no longer here and the 2 vet techs that we loved are gone. The people in the office seem less friendly and the visits seem cold and more about "what else can we sell you". This last time I went in I felt like they were spending more time trying to up sell me than take care of my pet. Our dog suffers from allergies and we always have a problem with her around this same time every year. When I went in I explained to the vet that all I needed were the allergy pills that she had her on the last time. I still had eye drops, ointments, shampoo, conditioner, the vitamin pump stuff you put on their food, etc. I made it very clear I had all of this stuff from the last visit and didn't need anything other than the pills. When the vet tech brought the initial visit estimate there were some of these extras on the bill. I told her to remove the items I did not want. She left, recalculated the bill, came back in the room with a brochure and again tried to up sell me. Enough is enough. I am sure that the vet is getting a kick back from the companies but my Lord, know when enough is enough. If I tell you I already have everything and you still explain what you think I should use, I understand that, you are just making sure. However, there is no need to try 2 more times when I told you from the start exactly what I want. I hate to say that I may be in the market for a new vet. read more

I took my dog here after a bad eye injury and asked them to call my ex to see if he would offer to pay for half of it since he abandoned this dog and four others as well as a cat ten months earlier. He was a bad pet owner so they were better off with me. I had told them that it was my dog then i gave it to him when we were still together because the dog preferred men (a five pound chi that I found on the side of the road). They called him at work and he hung up on them they told me. He called back but would not take a break from work to get his credit card. I paid for the eye to be secure, eight hundred dollars. The next day I went to pick him up and they told me to wait in the room. I waited for about forty minutes and then they told me to leave. I said I am waiting for my dog. They told me that I said it was his dog...I said yes ten months ago, but he just left him and I only have his number, I dont know where he is. They told me he would pay for it and I will get a refund on my credit card. When I had came in they had said he had not even called them back yet about the dog. They also told me that I was supposed to come in at eleven not nine. Funny cuz they told me that they close at eleven and if I did that I would not have been able to pick him up. Anyway, I left, called my ex up and all he could do was laugh. I then got a call from this place two days later asking me how my dog was. WTF. Then I got a call from the vet or owner asking me for my credit card info to issue a refund. When I did get a refund they seriously did something illegal and unethical for a business to do. They issued a credit for a cat I had brought in two years earlier and not the dog I had brought in. They changed the pet I brought in, the date I brought it in, and the amount it had cost. It had not cost eight hundred dollars for this cat to get some antibiotics or for whatever it was for. I cant remember because the receipt didnt say why the animal was brought in...only the updated date, cost and animals name. The funny thing was it was the cat that he had abandoned. He had it for two years before I met him. Who is taking care of him now?????? Not him. Who pays the vet bills, food and other things...not him...but yet they give him a dog. He had lost that dog four times when i was with him and would put him on the island in the kitchen and go to sleep and leave him there for six hours. Im sure you can see why he needed to leave. Now I have the son and daughter of the dog and he misses his dad very much. He had refused to fix his dog because it would no longer be a male dog.WTF. The dogs name is Joey, but yet he has no idea why....How can this be allowed to happen. I wish they would respond to this because they will not respond to calls asking for the real receipt. I also have pics of the dog, he is registered in my name with his microchip. But I dont know were he lives only his post office address. This vet really sucks...and they are money hungry...they didnt even want to try and save his eye..cheaper just to take it out...and I do have a totally blind dog at home I got from the shelter so I have no problem with a dog with one eye but dont encourage me to do the least possible. PS...after I took my cat there they misdiagnosed it and I took him to tucson...I also took another animal there and they said it had cancer when I told them it needed fluids cuz it had diabetis....and I was right...that was a hamster...not sure male or female but expensive and tried my best but the didnt make it....had fluids twice and did perk up. I had the SAME experience there and am now in search for a REAL Vet. It's to bad some vets just don't seem to care anymore about the real reason people are there. The care and well being of their animals. The new game must be to try and sell, sell, sell. Well I for one will not be bulied or lied to when it concerns my dogs. I LOVE my dogs to much and I can tell you my old vet in Colorado can tell you that. I miss her SOOOOO much. She cared for my animals like they were her own and treated me with respect. Have been to many vets in the past 40 years and have to say that this clinic ranks in the top three. We are in the area for a short time and my Airedale needed a rabies booster. I asked for the 3-year vaccine since we live full-time in our rv now. The tech who saw my dog first was exceptional and thoroughly examined my dog. After a few minutes, the vet came in and was just as thorough and spent about 10 minutes examining my dog and checking everything. It was the best physical exam my dog has had in two years. The best part was the cost of this excellent care. My total bill was only $46. Have spent a lot more for a lot less in the past. Tech Brittany and Dr. Vick are the best! Highly recommend. read more

We took our dog Rocky there a year ago and said we would never go back, but in an emergency we took him again because they were closer than anyone else. We called ahead, telling them we were bringing him in after he bit a Sonoran Desert Toad(they kill more dogs than rattlesnakes) and was having severe reactions. When we arrived, they were in no hurry to get him in back for the vet to look at. When the tech finally looked at him, she told us she had just learned about the toads. we felt the vet should have looked at him first to determine if it was an emergency situation. The vet finally came in, talking very loud and saying something about this is why people used the stuff from the toad to hallucinate, which I could have cared less about at the time. Dr Mari seems cold towards our dog. She looked at him and went in back. I guess they do not realize that their customers can hear through their walls. The vet was telling a tech to print out a list of all the stuff they wanted to do to Rocky and another tech was asking which room the toad licker was in!! We were afraid we may lose out dog and they were making jokes. It wasn't funny at all. They ended up bringing us a pan of water and a hand towel and said to rinse his mouth out, it had happened 45 minutes prior, that was not going to help. That is when we decided to leave. You can not rinse a dogs mouth with the same water that the toad poison is going into. We paid them almost $90 for not much of anything. We will not go back or recommend them. This is the worst animal clinic I have ever experienced!!!! They were recommended to me by an emergency clinic to do a follow up because they were closer. I have notified the emergency clinic of my experience and hope they do not refer to them any more. I made a appt with the vet I was referred to and was seen by the other vet.. I was quoted a price for a urine analysis and was charged more. When I commented on this they wouldn't do anything about it. They wanted a follow up test in a week so I brought another specimen in and was told the results would be ready in about an hour. I once again complained about the cost and they only charged me what the tech had quoted the week before, I wasn't credited for the difference for the previous visit. They also insisted on payment before they would do the test. When I returned, a tech came out and showed me the results which were better but the vet suggested that our girl be on more antibiotics. Their cost was MORE than the emergency clinic. I was irritated and asked for a script. The vet had to sign off on that and then I asked for a copy of the lab results. When I got the report the original PH number was crossed out and a higher number was listed. I feel they altered the results to justify the meds. Since we are seasonal residents here I called my vet at home to see what to do. I sent her a specimen next day air. It was sent in a cold pack. With the cost of the shipping and the new test, it cost me less than the clinic charged. When she called with the results they corresponded with the original PH that was crossed out. She also said that no meds were necessary unless our girl started having trouble again. i have since spoke to other people in our RV Park who have gone there and have had misdiagnosis and bad experiences. If only I would have checked before. I don't know if they just felt they could take advantage or if this is their way of practicing. But to quote a price and not honor it and alter (falsify) lab results, this is not a reputable vet and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. LOOK ELSEWHERE!!!!! read more
