This time I had to beg, the tall woman was really difficult to deal with. There was a petite, short lady who was very helpful and there is a woman, taller in stature with dark blonde hair who is extremely rude. I really was hoping this would be a positive visit. I'm giving them three stars because of the helpful lady, who was petite. It's unfortunate, they don't take appointments for nail trims. It would've been a lot less stressful for all parties involved.

We had hoped our vet might be able to do a shave while having his teeth cleaned, but found that he has a heart murmur, so we were unable to put him under. And then we found Marie in a google search. She took her time, sang to him, gave him a treat, and he no longer has mats. He looks great! She also provided many resources for us to help maintain his coat including various types of combs. We don't fear for our dogs' safety anymore and our entire pack is the calmest and happiest that they've been in the 8 years we've had them. We have used this past year to put all of the practices and techniques Troy has taught us into use. We also regularly attend his Next Level group classes and Socialization classes with our dogs. We have seen some amazing transformations. That's not to say we haven't occasionally taken a step or two backwards at times but when that does happen, Troy is there to help. He has been available for email advice for certain issues and he has also done a home visit to help with the fighting issues we had in the beginning. Without Troy, I'm afraid we would have had to re-home or put down one of our beloved dogs. Lastly, Troy also boards our dogs for us when we travel. Not only is this great peace of mind - to know our dogs are well-cared for, but we also know that our dogs will be adhering to the same rules, boundaries, and limitations as if we were home with them. No more coming home from vacation and finding that we have to retrain them all over again! We whole-heartedly recommend Troy, especially if your dog has moderate to serious behavioral issues.

The Absolute WORST Veterinary Clinic of all Time! Do not bring your pets here! THE STATE BOARD OF VETERINARIANS HAS TWO COMPLAITS AGAINST THIS DR. IN 5 YEARS. THE BOARD CENSORED DR. KELLY ANDERSON'S LICENSE # 3964 IN 2011 AFTER AN ANIMAL DIED FROM IMPROPER CARE! I wish I would have read the state board reports before my horrible experience! The incompetent and cold Dr. Kelly Anderson & Garrett the vet tech, should not be allowed to care for animals. When I arrived at this clinic for my appointment that had been scheduled, the receptionist asked me to put my cat (who was inside of a large pet carrier) on the scale in the entryway. She logged the "pet carrier + wt" all while seated behind the desk from the birds eye view of her chair. Dr. Kelly Anderson had no problem allowing me to leave the office WITHOUT servicing my pet's medical care. Talk about lack of empathy for animals! After having a scheduled appointment and waiting nearly 2 hours in the patient room with paint and drywall holes, I left the office in tears. I recieved no apologies for the delay nor did a single staff member enter the room while I waited to notify me of a time-frame for service. I was offered the explanation by Dr. Kelly Anderson, with an obvious irritated tone of voice that "maybe this clinic isn't right for you" when I asked the tech (Garret) to be gentle with his handling of my shy timid cat. Dr. Kelly Anderson may have been having a bad day, but the inadequate care, horrendous customer service, and lack of empathy for an injured animal is dangerous for pet owners. Dr. Kelly Anderson, offered to stop treatment of the wound care after 2 minutes of cleaning when I asked a question. I was told that "if I was going to scrutinize everything she did, that she could discontinue the care." And that is exactly what she did, she walked out of my patient care room, made a few negative comments to the receptionist about me after opening the door to make sure there weren't any other poeple waiting in the front office that would hear her, and went right into another patient care room. I was left to do nothing but leave the office without a properly cleaned and wrapped wound. The negative attitude that I recieved from Dr. Anderson and Garret the vet tech was based on the fact that I asked if it would be possible to do the wound care and antibiotic dosage administration in the patient room where I could be there to comfort my pet, rather than in the back office with large barking dogs. A VET CLINIC THAT CANNOT DO A SMALL WOUND CARE CLEANING AND WRAP IN THE PATIENT ROOM IN FRONT OF THE OWNER LACKS THE CONFIDENCE AND COMPENTANCY TO DO SO. After the appalling ordeal, I still offered to pay for the examination at the front desk before leaving. Adding insult to injury, IN MY BLUR OF TEARS I DIDN'T NOTICE THAT I HAD PAID FOR SOMEONE ELSE'S INVOICE! THE RECEPTIONIST GAVE ME ANOTHER PATIENT'S INVOICE. When I returned home I reviewed my receipt only to find that I had been given an invoice from another patient with all of that customer's information, including their home address and phone number. THE ABSOLUTE WORST VETERINARY CLINIC! I WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE. TWO OF MY NEIGHBORS HAVE ALREADY AGREED TO NEVER RETURN AFTER HEARING WHAT HAPPENED TO MY PET. I WILL ALSO FILE DR. ANDERSON'S THIRD COMPLAINT WITH THE ARIZONA STATE BOARD OF VETERINARIANS! read more

After reading the review of one of the clients of Maricopa Animal Hospital I have to write my own review. I am a client of Maricopa Animal Hospital (dare I say five times over) I have had both my dogs and cats spayed there. I always follow the cheap route just as the Uncle in the other review. I know that in a manner of speaking I am taking a chance by not getting the blood work. This was explained very clearly and spelled out as well in the papers I received prior to the procedure. Although I am no longer living in the town of Maricopa, I will drive the distance from Buckeye to Maricopa to have my pets taking care of by Maricopa Animal Clinic. Can't say enough about how well they treat my Mastiff, Yorkies and my cats!!! Ps. I reread the review, which has changed since my previous viewing. As pet owners it is our responsibility to take care of our pets. I personally am so tired of people whining and complaining and blaming everyone else. When do you take responsibility for being informed for your own health and your pets. You obviously have a computer, do the research yourself before you go in for procedures. Then you might have a leg to stand on when you start slinging mud. Really, I have had one of the vets techs actually drive half way to Buckeye with meds so I didn't have to go the whole way. You will not find a better place to take your pets than Maricopa Animal Hospital. read more

I would give this veterinary clinic zero stars if I could. We moved to Maricopa 4 years ago and began using this veterinary clinic almost immediately. All three of our dogs are relatively healthy at all times and mostly just need routine care for updating vaccines. Recently I called to get our dog an allergy shot that he has had in the past and I was told he needed a wellness visit before the shot could be administered and the cost of the shot has gone up significantly. What it feels like is that money is the primary concern for the doctor and staff and they layer needless care suggestions. When you call you are almost automatically asked to be put on a brief hold that inevitably turns into ten minutes. Further, because there is only one veterinarian, you 9 times out of 10 can't see the doctor but for a fee you can drop your pet off for later pickup. Mind you, you generally call because something is typically wrong with your pet and what animal or human would want to be locked in a cage when you don't feel good. I could go on and on but, I would recommend another vet in another clinic that cares about your pets. read more

I have taken my dog and cat to the Maricopa Animal Hospital vet ever since we moved to Maricopa over 5 years ago. I really liked them and referred them to friends. On Mar. 4th, Thurs. I called to try to get my cat Bella in because she was sick and would not eat. She was diabetic. You said you could not see her until the following Wed. I brought her to 1st Pet. We waited 7 hours for them to charge us $600.00 and not help her. I called you early Sat. morning to try to bring her in to get her put to sleep. She was deteriorating. I was told NO you guys were just too busy. She even went to ask someone else if they could do it and the answer was still no. I thought they would have been more concerned and compassionate. read more

I was faced with helping my senior dog cross over. Maricopa Animal Hospital was so kind, accommodating and compassionate. Dr Larson was so gentle and kind and thoughtful in helping me make the final decision to proceed rather than encourage me (when I started to ask) to have him diagnosed and treat what she suspected was another serious ailment he may have been living with. I am so grateful to the younger staff who helped me move Brutus from my car to the exam room, giving him the dignity they instinctively knew he deserved. I had been a long time client of Maricopa Animal Clinic but I will NEVER take anything to them again! On Friday 11/15/13 my dog was badly injured. I called and told them I was on my way. When I raced through the door with her at 5:03 pm, I was told that they would not even look at her because they were closing at 5:30 pm. They did not even offer to try to stabilize her or give her anything for pain. These people showed absolutely no compassion for my dog or for myself. Yes, she did die from her injuries. I have taken 3 of my animals to Maricopa Animal Hospital and I have nothing but nice things to say. Recently we had to make the hard decision to put to sleep our old pup and the staff and Dr. we're absolutely amazing. They even had a sweet private area and a side exit to leave after an emotional time and we got a card with our old boys paw prints and a sweet note about a week later. Called to have my dog put down 1/7/2024. They said they are not taking any new clients. I asked them if they could just come to the car and put the poor dog out of her misery, They kept saying they are not taking any more clients. This vet is not about the welfare of animals, or they would have figured out a way to make this happen. Called on Sat am at 730. This is the most awesome Animal Hospital on the planet. My little shih-tzu had the worst ear infection ever. You could smell the infection for a HUNDRED miles! Anyway, as crazy busy as this place is, they got my little baby Bear in. They fixed him up, on the spot. Oh, by the way, they trimmed his nails, and checked his teeth. I love this hospital. Please stay away from this place. They are responsible for abusing a dog, which ultimately had to be put down. Stay away from Kelly Larson. She is extremely unprofessional and is 100% responsible for the abuse the dog suffered. She did not have the balls to explain what happened and refused to meet with the family. read more

They do make you pay a $75 deposit upfront that goes towards the visit as they've had tons of no shows. They were so wonderful with Biscuits (my possible soon to be cat--she adopted me at this point!!). She was super calm throughout the visit, especially during her shots. And she had fun playing with and inside the garbage can slot. They told me that all the cats and some of the dogs do it. Overall the visit went well and they were able to tell me what was going on right away and provide treatment. I love that they followed up with me--well more with Biscuit. When funds allow I will be back!

It cost me financially as well as stress for both my dog and me. I have never had such a bad experience from a veterinary office as I have this one. My dog didn't die but he had to go through tests and stress that he didn't need to. The only good news is that I found a FABULOUS vet, Dr. ROBSON @ Ocotillo Animal Clinic. So I'm grateful to have found her because this vet was the worst experience ever. I went from the worst to the best!

They treat our pets well and we have always felt heard when we finally get in. Unfortunately, the waiting times to get in are excessive and this seems to be a consistent issue for a while now. This makes it stressful when you have a sick pet. We did think that with the addition of new vet things would get better but sadly it does not seem so. Again....Staff is excellent -- the long wait for an appointment time is the only reason for the lower rating. Hope they can improve this. Unfortunately, we have had to seek a vet service elsewhere, which is sad because we do like the staff here.

The vet and the vet tech were both amazing - our dog can be a bit excitable around new people and they were so sweet with him. The vet was also super knowledgeable about allergies and Valley Fever (our dog has both) and gave us some good recommendations for helping our dog be a bit less itchy that did not involve any new expensive interventions. Prices are also VERY reasonable and I didn't feel like I was constantly being upsold - which is rare these days. Will definitely be coming back here with both of our pups!

Last year on 4/1 my senior dog was extremely ill and we were able to get in last minute with Dr. Heffelman. I believe we were the last appointment of the day and I had my husband take Bert to them to see what was going on. They ran some tests and Dr. Heffelman in the most caring way possible told my husband that Bert was in complete organ failure and he recommended to put Bert to sleep. I was at home getting ready for bed and my husband called me and given that it was 4/1 I thought it was a cruel april fools joke. Dr. Heffelman and his staff stayed with Bert while my husband came back to our apartment to pick me up and stayed open late to ensure that we were there and had all the time we needed to say goodbye to our dog Bert. They ensured he felt no pain and stayed with us to tell us when he was finally gone and then allowed us to remain in the room with Bert until we were okay. They were so caring and spent so much time with Bert in the 3 years with Dr. Heffelman whether it be for routine visits, checking his blood pressure weekly, coaching me on how to get Bert's weight down and even helped refer us to a doggie eye doctor when Bert suddenly went blind. They were also helpful in reminding and checking in on us with our other dog Zagreus after Bert's passing to ensure Zagreus was doing okay. When we first got Zagreus he was in and out of vets in the tempe region until we moved and saw Dr. Heffelman who thought he might have valleyfever and luckily he was right and although it has been a long road in trying to cure Zag from valleyfever Dr. Heffelman and his team never get tired of all of our questions and are so gentle with Zag for his 3 month bloodwork and Dr. Heffelman always is so quick in calling us with the results of the blookwork and the next game plan in dealing with his valleyfever. I am beyond glad that we found Superstition Animal Hospital and Dr. Heffelman and his team of dedicated techs and staff. We have never had a bad experience going to them and even their floater vet who sometimes makes appearances is so calming and friendly and puts zagreus (a nervous and anxious dog) at ease. Thank you Dr. Heffelman for all the care and grace you have given us especially on one of our worst days.
