She enjoyed the cookies so much that she had to take some home to her family. This cookie shop prides themselves on having gluten and gluten-free cookies that taste exactly the same! Cookie was really, really dry (probably not fresh), pretty rock hard (again, likely not fresh - it was the Friday after Christmas??) and it was so sugary I couldn't even eat a quarter of it. Maybe another flavor would have been better? Especially if it were made that morning. Staff was fine. Not overly friendly, but not rude. If I go back it'll be to one of their main locations, not in Kern's.

I went with the lemon gooey butter, cinnamon roll gooey butter, birthday gooey butter, and the traditional snickerdoodle. The gooey butter cookies were flavorful and the perfect size. The birthday cake was my favorite. The snickerdoodle cookie was great, but if I went back I would probably opt to get another flavor of gooey butter rather than the traditional cookie. The shop itself is small but mighty. Super kind staff who will give you any info you request. There are candles, plates, cards, and a few local gifts for sale, alongside all of the tasty treats. There are cookies, brownies, cupcakes, single cake and cheesecake slices and full size cheesecakes for sale. My favorites are the oatmeal sammie and the PB cheesecake. I normally avoid sugar cookies but their version with the sanding sugar is too notch! We definitely prefer the storefront, as the items are super fresh and I love that they carry the single servings. Whenever we are downtown for work, this is our stop. When you get something from the Kroger Magpie's selection, it will either be a full size cheesecake or a sampler box of cookies or bars/brownies. It is hit or miss as to how fresh the items are here. This location now refrigerates the sammies, too, which seems to dry them out quickly. Bummer. From either location, we definitely prefer the cheesecakes, pies, and cookies to the actual cake. Either way, support this local gem!
