We adopted our two pups from SDRNE and couldn't be happier. We were thoroughly screened, which was important and appropriate, so that the dogs won't need additional rehoming. One of our new pups needs lots of gentle training and attention, and we are very happy to do this. The organization took the time and resources to facilitate everything perfectly. We are so, so grateful.

So easy to work with them. Adopted Hattie 2 years ago. Age was questionable compared to paperwork but good experience overall. Love me Hattie!

The director of this rescue could use a kindness/manners class. It doesn't kill you to be nice to people trying to adopt a dog for PTSD.

This place cares very much for where the dogs and cats are placed. They provide several training guides, do's and don'ts, a week of the food they're currently eating so you can slowly acclimate them to your chosen brand, vaccination records, place and date of birth, chipping and registration information, etc. They have strict policies for one very specific and good reason: It's for the pets, not the humans. Young children (regardless of their upbringing) can pose a threat to the animal. Your child might be a puller or tugger and the animal may not be prepared for those interactions yet; especially for puppies. This place is great and after a two-week approval process, we took home an adorable hound puppy. They were also very accommodating, and came in on one of their CLOSED days for us to adopt him even sooner. Be honest with them and their questions and you will not be disappointed. With a handshake and a hug for each of us and several kisses goodbye for our new puppy (they clearly gave him good care and a lot of love), we took him home. My advice is to give them a chance to give YOU a chance.

Lack of communication, herding people in like cattle for meet and greets that seem to totally freak out the animals... all in all, I hope all the sweet pets find good homes, but would absolutely never return to this place. It was all so uncomfortable and the volunteers were very judgy and rude. Potential adopters seemed to be treated very poorly in all instances and the entire process was demoralizing. I feel bad for the pups etc that are stuck there, poor things. My heart breaks for them.

From the moment I walked into the facility, I was greeted by the friendly and professional team in the cat room, who made me feel at ease and truly listened to my needs. As an experienced cat owner, I knew exactly what I was looking for in a companion, and the staff were incredibly knowledgeable and eager to match me with the right cat. The team took the time to understand my preferences--whether it was temperament, activity level, or personality--and offered a thoughtful selection of cats that would be a great fit for my home. I was impressed by their dedication to finding the best match for both the cats and their potential owners. It was clear that the team genuinely cares about the animals they work with and wants to ensure a loving, lasting relationship between pet and owner. With the help of Cathy, she found a cat that was perfect for me and my family. The process was smooth and seamless. The staff provided me with all the information I needed, from details about the cat's history to advice on transitioning them into my home. It was evident that the RISPCA's priority is not just to rehome animals, but to ensure their well-being and happiness in their new environment. Adopting a cat from the RISPCA was an incredibly rewarding experience, and I'm so grateful to the team for their expertise and care. This is my fourth adoption from the RISPCA, with my first being 19 years ago. My family is very excited to have a new feline friend in our home, we are in LOVE! I wish I could adopt all the animals, but I know all the animals are in good hands at the RISPCA. If you're considering adopting, I highly encourage you to visit and meet the fantastic team and their amazing cats!

We didn't have an appointment but when we arrived the girl working the desk (Abby) said there were no bookings so we could come in. She showed us the animals and explained the details of each one, age, temperament, cost etc, and answered some of my friends additional questions which had nothing to do with the animals. We got an application and Abby went over all the costs with us so we could write them down. She couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. As sad of a place as an animal shelter can be, she brightened it up and made our visit enjoyable and informative. Hopefully my fiends family will adopt a cat from this location and I know when I'm looking for a an animal this will be one of my first stops. Thanks Abby and all the cats and dogs in west Warwick.

Paul was absolutely AMAZING! I can't thank him enough for the concern and kindness he showed me. I told them I have a friend willing to take my cats in Connecticut. She said the cats will have to go through adoption. I went to check on my cats today and she told me she already adopted them. I told her the cats means everything to me. I expressed that I bought the cat right after a hard time in my life and my cat was there to comfort me and gave me emotional support. I asked the lady "I thought you was going to help me get my cat adopted to a friend so I can at least visit her in Connecticut ".The lady then started being a "Karen" and told me "well I don't really care, all you need to know is that there are in a good home. And just because ur friend put an application in that doesn't mean they were goin to get pick for adoption." She then preceded to tell me I don't seem fit to care for a cat anyways. I had done nothing but gave my cat the best life she could possible have. Now I can never see my cat who I had raised since she was 4 weeks, she is now 9months. She is not just a cat to me, her name is Malu, she's a sweet bengal cat and very shy. I treat her like she's my daughter, she is very spoiled and well cared for. When I arrived, I was told that all dogs can only be viewed from outside the building - there are no meet and greets until an application is received and vetted first, which so far has been 5 days and I still haven't heard back. This doesn't make any sense . Why wouldn't they let the potential adopters meet and greet the dog first while they are on site, and if they are a match, then do the vetting ? The dogs are in kennels that have an indoor and outdoor run, there was poop everywhere in their kennels and the facility stank even from the outside. I felt so bad for the dogs. I did find two pets that I like and I was told both pets I had to make an appointment for a meet and greet but the two I was interested in I was told one dog was snappy and the other dog was not available because they had just come back from surgery. I did however make an appointment to meet with a Chihuahua upon my meet and greet I was told the dog didn't pick me so I wasn't able to get the dog. I could however make another appointment for another meet and greet but if the dog doesn't pick you then you can't adopt it. I've owned pets all my life I just lost my Schnauzer 15 years I had three cats for 20 years I have a bird for 25 years a giant yard and live by myself no kids there's no reason that I can't get a pet in fact I would give any pet a good home. The woman at the counter was fairly nice and if you are interested in a dog they will help you to get that pet But be warned this is not a quick process You will need to fill out an application do several meet and greets and then if the pet picks you You can begin the process to get your dog or cat. Some positive things I experienced here were they already no kill shelter. They are not about just taking your money they want to make sure the pet has a good home and you are worthy of owning that pet. Some of the bad things I experienced was the viewing of the dogs the cleanliness of the cages outside or not clean lots of dog poop. I will keep looking and keep trying to purchase a forever home pet for me but this shelter is very selective of who gets what pet. My overall experience was positive and I hope to visit often to see new pets.
