It had a lot of spices to the point where it left a stinging aftertaste and was difficult to swallow. You can practically taste the powder. I let my friend try it and she agreed as well. Their coffee is a bit better than Starbucks (but if we're being fair Starbucks isn't actually ~that~ bad - it got popular for a reason). Definitely a cute place with a nice atmosphere. However, like many things in Princeton, it thrives on location, reputation, and the desire to not "support the man" rather than actually being amazing. If you're looking for an alternative/something new, 10-15 minutes north on Rt 27, Rockn' Joe has better coffee and a less pretentious atmosphere. read more

Small World has cornered the market on coffee in Princeton and rightfully so. I often order the cafe au lait or an iced latte. I highly recommend the pour over coffee when it is offered. It's worth the extra wait. The desserts and snacks for sale are all delicious. I have enjoyed the kale salad, brownie, Rice Krispie treat, and the red velvet cupcake. My favorite would be the cupcake. They often have lie music on Saturday night and always have art on display. Pumpkin spice is super delish! read more

Note: I tried one thing here so this review is more for the ambiance. I came here on a rainy Monday afternoon/night. It is a little pricey (everything from tea to hot chocolate will set you back at least $3) and they take cash only. I tried the Tough chai tea, which the barista warned me is very strong in ginger flavor. It was, and I loved it. I also like that when you indicate that you are staying, they give you a real glass, mug, or tea pot. There are a lot of places to sit but outlets are limited to the back section if you want to charge any electronics. Also, be sure to ask for the wifi login when you pay. The staff seem friendly and the place is clean and warm and the background music isn't too loud or distracting. I didn't mind sitting here for over an hour reading while waiting for my friend. I'd come back to try their hot chocolate or have another Tough Chai. read more

Coming from a city where coffee is a religion, and opinions are as different and specific as Catholics vs. Protestants, it is unusual that I discover a coffee establishment that I want to bring home to San Francisco Small World Coffee is the happy exception. The coffee is excellent, and they offer a nice menu of baked goods, salads, sandwiches and hot foods that are delicious. I went twice in two days, once with my family (not a group of easily pleased people) who were all very happy with their coffee and muffins, and the next day for lunch. When they say that they serve the "Ultimate Tomato Soup", they are not kidding - it is like having a taste of a ripe summer tomato in the middle of winter. There is a nice sense of community in the place, but also a respectfulness for people's quiet time. The clientele varies from academics, to town folks, to out-of-town folks. People tend to set up camp there, so weekends are challenging for finding a seat, but there is usually a spot to be found eventually. A lovely respite when you find yourself in Princeton - conveniently located half a block from the university campus. It's a Small World, after all! read more

I absolutely hate any expression that has the saying "small world" in it. I think it is insulting and ignorant, and therefore Small World Coffee had a large hill to climb. It's a cute place though, it has a charm that is undeniable. It's bright, cheery colors and feeling are agreeable and inviting, but unfortunately grow old and somewhat distracting for a coffee shop once you sit down with your coffee and try to have a talk. The place is loud and crowded, and definitely not for studying or reading. The crowd is very diverse, with teenagers next to grandparents... it has the look of the go-to standard of town. The coffee is basic, no-frills, but enjoyable and not weak. A small cup of joe sets you back only $1.75, and it is nice to be served in a real glass instead of paper or styrofoam. I can deal with the noise, but my biggest complaint with Small World might just be that it tries too hard to be "worldly" instead of just letting it happen. It is not overly condescending, but I cannot help feel the burn of that just a little. It is not, actually, a small world that we live in, and realizing this would be a good first step! read more

Giving Small World 3 stars is tough for me because I love it and have been a long time customer, but for a while now, more often than not the coffee has just been ok. There are a few people on staff who make an amazing cap, latte, whatever you're in the mood for. But there are more people on staff who don't. It might have to do with turnover, but they should really prioritize training before having new staff make coffee orders. You can literally taste the difference. read more

We ordered a NOLA Frappe, Organic Sencha Green tea, Peanut butter cookie and rice krispie treat. Everything was ok, nothing spectacular, or anything that I would get again if we came back. This coffee house has plenty of seating, but the noise level is on the higher side. As a student, it'll be a good place to hangout, but studying will not be optimal unless you are on headphones. I love talking to the baristas that are always so knowledgable about their coffee beans - especially if there's a new bean variety in stock. The shop has a great environment for a casual meeting but it's calm enough if you need to get studying or reading done.
