One of my all time favorite coffee shops!! Small World is located in the heart of town and always has a great vibe. Plenty of indoor seating (but it can get completely full quickly). The drink menu is expansive and always has a few drinks on rotation. Today I tried the seasonal cold brew (Pumpkin) and the London Fog latte. Both were great - the cold brew was quite sweet and the London Fog was nice and milky. Prices are expensive, but Small World has everything you want in a coffee shop so I think it's worth it. Small World is without a doubt the best place to get coffee in Princeton area! The coffee is strong and delicious, and the food is always freshly prepared and tasty (I love their oatmeal with granola, and some of their sandwiches during lunch time). Fun atmosphere anytime you visit. The brews are good and the service is pleasant and friendly. The atmosphere is quite nice and provides a comfortable place to enjoy a coffee creation. The prices are a little high so be prepared. If you don't mind paying a little more for your coffee, it is worth a try. My only complaint is that Small World (like several other places in Princeton) is cash only. Even though there's an ATM onsite but it I wouldn't want to spend ATM fee(I believe $5) to buy a $3.50 coffee in morning!! read more

Loved the mocha but omg their chai... is the strangest thing I've ever tried. It was sO strong, with so much of some ingredient (maybe ginger?) that I got into a coughing fit after trying it. Thankfully the staff asked "have you tried our Chai? because it's... strong" so I really appreciated the sample because we all ended up tasting a sip and my friend changed her order immediately. But otherwise, it's a nice cozy vibe and a great place to get drinks with friends! read more

Not sure what happened but this local coffee shop fell off the wagon for me. Their espresso roast tastes burnt and unenjoyably bitter. Honestly it's not a very smooth latte. I've had better in town and around. Also they've gone more corporate. Their new rewards system is terrible versus the old punch card. It used to be one free every 12 drinks (if you do a flavored latte it's like $72 spent) but now it's $5 off for every $100. Pretty terrible considering the earning margins for drinks are high. Also they didn't officially announce the retirement of the punch card - just stopped during COVID and then "word of mouth" for a few months. Pretty lame IMHO. As much as I like their staff, it seems like this coffee shop has become Starbucks lite. I'm no longer interested in supporting this establishment. The taste is meh and I feel they have coasted on "old" reputation. There are more places in town now with higher quality coffee. Try them instead. read more

This place gives me basic, local, small town coffee shop vibes! It smells like delicious coffee, they have coffee in paper bags for sale, people are holding conversation by the windows & it's actually super cute. The line may seem dauntingly long, but it goes quicker than you would think. I got the lavender latte and my boyfriend got the cold brew. The lavender is seasonal so definitely go during the summer if you want to try it. I really enjoyed the lavender, but I didn't think it was sweet enough so I added one packet and it was PERFECT. The cold brew is sweeter than my BF has had at other places, but he didn't mind it. We also got two mini chocolate chip cookies!! They were good but a little TOO sweet for my taste. Unless you love your sugar, I wouldn't get them. There are places to sit inside and outside, the outside is more limited than the inside for sure. But, you can always pick up (ordering online is an option) and head to Palmers Square, or walk around with your coffee and explore the town. Overall, our order came out to about $12, which is kind of pricey but standard for a local coffee shop! The small size is also pretty large, I think its a 16oz, so if you're used to a size tall from starbucks, you're in for a treat. Parking is metered and semi-limited so I would leave a few minutes to search for it. Overall, worth a second visit, I'll be headed back to try a few different things! read more

Nice coffee shop! Came in here today and got a latte. Service was fast and prices were maybe a little high but not crazy unreasonable. The latte was mega hot so I had to wait a long time before I could drink it, but it was pretty tasty. I'm a HUGE FAN of small world coffee. It's my #1 favorite place to get work done in the Princeton area (wrote all my college essays here!), and the coffee never disappoints. I think my favorite part of SWC is definitely the vibe - the baristas are super nice, there are local paintings and event advertisement hanging all around, and the people here are either students working or people catching up. Reopening after COVID also feels very safe with tables distant from each other and a suggested stay time of 1 hour. read more

All I have to say about the Tough Chai is WOW! The person at the counter warned me it's strong and he's not kidding! But, that's said in a good way. It's homemade and you can tell 100% that that's the case. This would be an awesome drink to have on a cold winter day (it's my mistake for ordering it on a 95 degree sunny day while walking 9 miles) but don't pass this drink up regardless. The coffee shop itself seems like "the shop" for Princeton University as it was packed on a Sunday afternoon in the middle of July. If you're in the area, I would recommend this place ten times over. read more

Just ordered the chai and a ginger scone. Yum yum yum. I've read the reviews about the chai being too spicy or too strong. For me, I find it to be very medicinal. The chai has a strong ginger, cinnamon and cardamon taste. Drinking it makes me feel like I'm putting something healthy in my body. This may not be for everyone especially if you are afraid of spicy things. But if you're up to it. Yeah. This gets a thumbs up. The ginger scone was also very good accompanying the chai tea. Given the name of this place, shouldn't there be 300 brightly costumed audio-animatronic dolls dressed in costumes representing every country of the world? I was surprised there was neither a pastel-colored boat ride nor an irritatingly redundant song played over and over again until you want to take a rifle out and pretend it's a shooting gallery. No, this is the kind of place I remember fondly from my Berkeley days well before the Starbucks/WiFi era when coffeehouses were hangout spots for undergrads who actually conversed with one another. It's pretty spacious with plenty of tables in the back where students are on their laptops with their earphones on, of course. I was eavesdropping on at least one coffee date as the guy was talking the girl's ear off with highlights of his so-called life. I see the "Let's be friends" speech coming up very soon. As for me, I was looking for something a little sweet after having sushi at Ajihei down Nassau. I was lured by Cinnamon Raspberry Rugelach (a couple for $2.10) and a $2.95 Cafe au Lait that came generously in separate beakers of coffee and steamed milk (see photo). I don't think I've ever seen a DIY version of an au lait, but the approach certainly affords a lot to both a starving student and a thrifty corporate drone. The rugelach was pretty good, too, tasting much like fresh fig newtons. Oh wait, here comes the speech..."Roger, you're so sweet, but if I go out with you, it would be like dating my brother. I would love it if we can still be friends." Oh well, better luck next time, Roger. Perhaps the sight and sounds of 300 brightly costumed audio-animatronic dolls could cheer him up. It's a small world after all. Updating my review for Small World Coffee -- I definitely learned my lesson when it came to ordering their Tough Chai. This time I came, pandemic and all, and just needed a coffee to get me through the rest of the day. I absolutely loved the staff, as they were incredibly kind, and the guy behind the counter taking and making my order talked to me as if we had been good friends, which was incredibly refreshing. What I liked about their changes for COVID-19 was their outdoor seating! Directly outside the shop in the street, they added benches and tables. When I went at around 2pm, there was complete shade and it looked so comfortable to just sit out there to study, chill, and relax. I so wish I had the time to sit there and just read my book, because I know I'd enjoy it. I can't wait to come back once things calm down, or even just to sit outside and enjoy my coffee in the outdoor seating : ) read more

I really fell in love with this place. Service was quick but friendly. The barista was kind enough to answer any questions I had as a new customer. Good coffee, chill people, hip/ huge location; I'm down. (Situated in the heart of Princeton, parking is a bit of headache depending on when you're planning to come.) It's a great place to hang, because they're open pretty late compared to some of my favorite coffee shops in Philly. They've got an impressive variety of drinks and pastries and plenty of room to sit and spread out. While this place is awesome, it's definitely not a great place to go if you really need to study, because it's fairly busy and I imagine the general chaos, though not unbearable, would be too much for someone trying to really focus. There also didn't appear to be a large amount of plugs, if you need to charge your devices. All that being said, this is a great place to grab a snack and have a good conversation over good coffee. Your go-to coffee place on campus. It has a wonderful hipster vibe inside, with live music on weekends and small nooks to hang out, have casual meetings, or do your work. A few chargers and free wi-fi. The coffee itself is also great! My favorite is the Nola, the best cold brew mixed with some sweet cream. They are also famous for their tough chai - unfortunately, as chai lover, I am too weak for this and wished they had a milder version - but if you love spice (or if you kind of want your mouth to burn), try it! My main qualm with Small World is their chai. As someone whose go-to drink is chai (and especially masala chai), the Small World one is almost undrinkable. Under the guise of "authenticity," the Small World chai is loaded with cinnamon, to the point where it is literally painful to drink it. I've tried it twice and both times had to throw the entire drink out because there's just way, way too much cinnamon. However, Small World does have redeeming qualities! The iced NOLA coffee is a great drink for those who like coffee with hints of chocolate, and I'm almost a huge fan of their hot vanilla milk, which is slightly frothy and extremely comforting. The interior is quirky and does offer plenty of seating, but despite the abundance of tables, Small World is almost always full, regardless of the hour. Worth a visit! read more

I was in the area so I stopped by for a quick coffee. Service was okay, not super friendly but not unfriendly either. I ordered a small iced coffee, which was an espresso with water over ice. It tasted a little acidic at first but got better as I kept drinking it. But what kinda put me off was the presentation. First of all, the small iced coffee was super small. It only cost $2.35 total, but still. And they don't have lids for the small size so if you want to take it outside and walk, be careful! That being said, I would come again if in the area, as the coffee itself wasn't bad. read more
