First time in the store today, and we lucked out as it was Happy Hour (4 for $10). They had many different flavors to choose from. We brought the cupcakes home, and they were delicious. However, my only critical point (and the reason for 3 stars) is because the young girl behind the counter, although very pleasant, did not wear gloves, nor did she wash her hands in between handling money and the food...very unsanitary, and, nowadays, inexcusable. I can't believe this to be the norm, and I really regret and don't know why I didn't question this at the time. I'm sure when I'm on the island again I will stop in, but next time I will definitely speak up should it happen again. And then walk out. read more

Sooooo many choices, but my favorite is the salted caramel on either the vanilla or chocolate cupcake. I really like the high ratio of icing to cake. My husband and I find cupcakeries in every city we visit. These cupcakes are absolutely the BEST by far. They are super moist and have the perfect amount of sweetness! Cookies and cream, lemon and red velvet are my favs!! I loved them so much I looked to see if there was a Smallcakes near my home and we did find one. These cupcakes beat out Sprinkles!! read more

We have been here a couple times and so far have tried the Red Velvet, Cookies & Cream, Chocolate Cream, and Salted Caramel Pretzel flavors of their cupcakes. They were all very good. Service was very good, very friendly. The Red Velvet tasted like a standard, run of the mill Red Velvet, nothing extraordinary about it. The Cookies & Cream was a very standard chocolate cake, but the icing was incredibly rich and very tasty. I couldn't finish the whole thing. The Chocolate Cream cupcake tasted like a better version of the classic cream-filked Hostess cupcake. The chocolate icing was very thick and rich. My favorite of all the flavors we've tried so far is definitely the Salted Caramel Pretzel. It's the same standard chocolate cupcake as the Cookies & Cream and Chocolate Cream cupcakes, but the caramel frosting is to die for. I LOVE caramel, but I don't like caramel flavored things- there's a huge difference. This frosting is thick and rich, the consistency of real caramel, tastes like the real deal and is topped with a generous amount of sea salt. It was amazing. $16 for 4 cupcakes is pretty steep, so this is only a special occasion thing for us, but I'll definitely be back for another Salted Caramel cupcake soon ;) read more

I would give this location a 0 if I could... Ordered cupcakes for my daughter's birthday the day before pickup. When we arrived the next day, it was closed at 4:30, when the sign advertised 8pm as closing time. My husband and I went to the 2 neighboring stores inquiring about the store being closed and we were told that they didn't have a baker that day so they were closed all day!! What made matters worse was that they didn't even have the decency to call me and let me know that my daughters cupcakes would not be made... Shame on you for disappointing an 11 year old girl who had heard nothing but great things about your cupcakes. Oh, and on another note, my husband and I came into Smallcakes to get ordering information the day before, and we were basically ignored while the lady working there was taking another order... No "I'll be right with you" or even acknowledging we were there. I still went back to my condo to order the cupcakes, and there you have it. read more

Helpful service. Good selection, even at 30mins before closing. The caramel crunch had the perfect balance of salty and sweet frosting on a very moist cake. The hot fudge sundae cupcake was a hit, too, but my daughter wasn't a fan of the peanuts. The cookie sandwich was good, too, and our not-a-fan-of-cupcakes was glad for the non-cupcake-option. All around, moist cakes with a reasonable amount of frosting (no mountains of sugar here). read more

This place has the best cupcakes and I would know, I work at a bakery. I went two different days this week, and was helped by someone different each day. Each time I had excellent service and the girls were nothing but kind. Please give this place a chance because their cupcakes are beyond delicious. If I lived down here, I'd eat them everyday. read more

My daughter moved to St. Simons Island and I wanted to get something delivered for her birthday. I called Smallcakes and, even though they don't deliver, they agreed to help in this special circumstance. The cupcakes were delivered on time and my daughter said they were wonderful. We don't come to St. Simon's without making a trip to Small Cakes during our stay and then one for the "To Go" cupcakes. They are simply the best. Some reviewers have complained about the price but single cupcakes, no matter where you get them, are not $1.29....This is not Winn Dixie either. These are quality cupcakes that are consistent in their freshness and flavor. Often times they will have 4 for $10 days. Hoping to catch one of those on our next visit! read more

I am surprised this place is open. I came here at 11:00 and they weren't open. I waited until 1145 and they still were closed. The delivery man was outside knocking but nobody answered. I went back another day and there are at least 25 flavored listed but they only had 5 available. I asked if they will have more and she said no they were to busy to make any. It is staffed by young teenage girls and it is obvious they don't care. The store owner should be embarrassed. read more

These deliciously moist decadent cupcakes beat hands down DC's Georgetown Cupcakes any day! Absolute favorites were the Lemon and Red Velvet. Great personal service at counter with good choices on different cake flavors too. Cupcakes were packaged with extreme care and made a 500 mile trip by car safe and sound! We got four cupcakes last Thursday afternoon and they were all fresh and delicious! We had red velvet, caramel with the pretzel on top, vanilla cake with chocolate frosting, and vanilla with pink frosting. Not sure what the flavor was on the pink frosting but it was delicious. I loved the frosting on all of them because it wasn't an over kill on sweetness at all. When asking about the cupcake flavors the girls didn't seem too sure on the exact flavors or ingredients and went back and forth on what the baker had said they were. There was only one fork left in a basket on the side area with napkins and there was four of us. When my son asked for more forks the employee told him where they were, and he informed her they were all out. She told him to check under the cabinet. He went back, opened under the cabinet doors and still couldn't find any. A gentleman that was in the store talking to the girls went to the neighboring business and grabbed some forks for us. Delicious cupcakes, poor service. The girls need to be taught to greet customers, ask if they can answer any questions, attend to the customer throughout the experience and tell them thank you as they leave the store. I'm not one to like over bearing customer service in anyway and like to be left alone at some point but I felt like we were on our own to fend for ourselves. read more

Terrible service. Never open on time. This is the second time we've come here and they are not open as advertised.

Loved the cupcakes in the pass but very disappointing experience this past weekend. Cupcakes ordered on a Thursday to be picked up on agreed time on Saturday. Imagine my surprise when I found the door locked at 11am. Next door establishment said "she" had been coming and going last several days. I called and left a message expressing my displeasure. I never got a return call. Later in day my son was next door and found the establishment open and got my order but the order was incorrect as to number ordered. Never going back and will let others know of this very unprofessional service. read more
