I pray no one else uses this funeral home. They don't deserve 1 star. What I have went through and experienced . It's been a total nightmare for me. My sister passed away February 27, 2020. I was referred to them because my sister's insurance had lapsed. Through no fault of her own. I was told they would work with me. It was the opposite. I couldn't get her funeral financed, both me and my cousin tried. I think they have some sort of scam worked out with their finance company. I was dealing with a funeral director named Desi Corley. This is the most disrespectful, unethical, evil uncaring, unprofessional man on earth. My sister body was with them a week before this man said I had to give him $2775 to have my sister's body transferred to another funeral home. It's been over a month. This funeral director and funeral home will not release my sisters body until I pay him money. Now he"s lowered the amount to $1200. I guess he wants my stimulus check. This has cause me so much mental anguish. On top of that I have wrote the FTC, and the Funeral Board of Directors. And contacted lawyers. With no help from them anyone yet. I explained to this man. I don't have the money. And I think he calls himself getting back at me. By not even filing my sister's death certificate. I explain to him. I need that to get the money's I'm beneficiary on to pay him. He kept telling me "she has to have a burial date". He can't do the certificates until then. This Thursday I contacted vital statistics and tnis lady was a God send she told me he had to turn in the certificates. And he can't hold my sisters body for money. But I told her he's been holding her over a month now. Mr Corley called me today telling me he filed the certificates. He was livid and nasty and arrogant, as usual. I ended up hanging up on him. I want to ruin his career if I can. This man has no business being a funeral director, or even dealing with grieving families. He is the Devil himself ignorant, and arrogant. He acts more like a pimp than a funeral director. The fact Smalls is letting this man work there, amazes me. He continues to refuse to release my sister's body. So I can give her a proper burial. At this point I'm worried about the condition of my sister's body. Who knows what this animal is capable of. Please think twice before bringing your loved one to this funeral home. My sister (Regina) passed on December 7th @ 7:49pm. I couldn't imagine how we would or could get through making arrangements, however Dez at Small's was nothing short of amazing at helping our family navigate her arrangements. He was efficient, sensitive to our needs and made sure we were making appropriate decisions. As you can imagine, during these times common sense goes out the window. He was patient and assisted with making sure her wishes were honored. He even went above and beyond by adding small details to her casket which gave it the perfect touch. The make up artist/person (Keona) that prepared my sister for viewing was excellent as well. Her attention to detail was spot on even down to calling to make sure she chose the appropriate color of lipstick. My sister looked radiant for her viewing and homegoing services. This was very important to all of us and she was absolutely beautiful. Lastly, I can not thank Edward McCants enough for his special touch on ensuring everything went without any hiccups. From the time he arrived to pick us up Edward was on point. His careful attention to my mother and sister's children was impeccable. He handled her as if she was his mother from offering of prayer, holding her hand, down to escorting her to the services. I watched as Edward made sure each of my sister's children had their own private time with their mother and made sure she was handled with delicacy. He didn't rush us through the service and stayed by our sides until it was time to go. Edward did an amazing job and I can't thank him enough. Please allow me to express my deepest gratitude for the service your staff provided to me and my family during the loss of our loved one James B Wright. Mr Smalls I am still overwhelmed with Joy for the personable service provided to us from the first phone call. I contacted your Mortuary in blind faith not knowing what the procedures were for making arrangements, but from the moment Des contacted me, he made me feel comfortable and relaxed and he went above and beyond to assist and provide us with counseling care and assistance throughout the week. Please personally thank Rev Bradley for that befitting message, Elder Williams for those beautiful solo renditions and I absolutely praise Ms Salter for that excellent organized Obituary...it was the best I have seen yet. Even after the service I have had follow up calls from Des & Rev Bradley to check on me, they that really meant a lot. The quality of customer service provided to me and my family during our loss was superb. My family and friends are still amazed at how good Mr Wright looked and at the well organized Home Going Celebration. The STAFF at SMALL'S is LARGER THAN LIFE !!! MR. DESI ALWAYS GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND EXPECTATIONS!!!! We are always satisfied with the professionalism that you receive from the staff at small's mortuary. But the experience of burying our Father , George M. My recent service experience with Small's Mortuary was superb! I started with Desi Corley. He was very detailed, informative, and easy to work with. He walked my family and I through each step. On the day of my relative's funeral, funeral attendant, Louis Brown, was assigned as our transporter. From the initial conversation until we were returned to our drop-off location, Louis exemplified pure dignity in our time of grief. He was very cooperative and accommodating.
