I have been to Smalltown Coffee twice and have enjoyed every visit. On our first visit, most of the seats were taken, so we sat at the counter. Our gluten-free Toffee Chocolate Scone ($3.75) was tasty. I had a Toffee Chip latte ($6.45) that was beautifully presented. My husband enjoyed his iced Bananas Foster latte ($6.45). We also tried the Strawberry Cheesecake Hand Pie ($6.50) but didn't really care for it. We came back recently, and I was disappointed that we were given everything in paper/plastic even though we ordered our food and drinks to enjoy there. I much prefer drinking out of glass if I'm visiting a coffee shop. My Stroopwaffle latte was quite tasty, but I didn't love the Jam Session latte. While the indoor seating can fill up, I noticed they have some outdoor tables as well. The pastry selection is somewhat limited, and I'd love to see some heartier breakfast options. Came here on a whim because I wanted to try a small town coffee place - lo and behold, it's literally in the name. Inside is very spacious and I loved the ambiance. Latte was very well made and I loved how you can still taste the espresso, a lot of lattes I've tried elsewhere are super milky. Very affordable and friendly staff too. Kaffa Cafe, can recommend dipping into town for top tier syrups and crafted goodies in an inviting Java House. Our espresso was drawn out well and mixed right balancing the maple and almond for mine. It's a bit basic, nothing adventurous here, seasonal menu plays it safe. Wished I had tried the cold brew lattes on tap! Those looked more a unique treat. Wifi was quick, outlets easy to access, and staff super friendly. This area also has Fluid Coffee Roasters too, surprisingly above average variety in a short area. I was in the area and noticed this cool spot. My significant other and I went inside to check it out. I looked at the menu they had on the wall behind the counter. From the Drip Coffee section, I went with a Medium 12oz for 3.50. It was ready fast and served in a mug. We sat down for a bit. The Drip Coffee was excellent and packed with flavor. I didn't even have to add anything to it. I enjoyed it until the mug was empty. The service was swift. I didn't have any issues. I want everyone to know about this amazing coffee shop tucked away in Crown Point, Indiana. First off, it's well worth the extra drive from the highway. The new space is stunning and features plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is clearly passionate about coffee roasting and making delicious drinks. I couldn't rave enough about the creamed honey latte I had. They said this is one of their signature drinks. They also make all of their baked goods in house. I found Smalltown when I was looking for someplace to kill a little time while my son was at an event at the Sparta Dome. I'm so glad I came in. The space is open, charming and friendly. There was a steady stream of customers coming through and everyone was served efficiently with plenty of room for seating. I had a caramel latte and toffee chocolate scone, both were delicious. I got a drink off the seasonal menu (something with honey and cinnamon) and was BLOWN AWAY! My boyfriend got some whole beans that we are excited to grind up! We will 10/10 be back!!!!! My ONLY bit of recommendation that does not take away from my overall score is that the front step is VERY tall (like a double step)- luckily it was well salted but I was very nervous to go both up and down it. I can't say enough about this coffee shop. It's seriously perfect. We just bought a house in Crown Point and it's so awesome to have a legit coffee shop in town. My fiancé and I actually showed up one of the first days and they weren't technically open. But Annette and Elizabeth the owners were so awesome. They made our drinks for us and they trusted us to paid online. My fiancé always gets the honey cream cap and she says it's hands down the best cap she's ever had. Their building is absolutely beautiful. It's ultra clean inside. They have all the sanitizing and distancing in place. They also have a small stash of masks in case someone comes that doesn't have one. Really thought out and so so so thankful that they opened in Crown Point. I'll start by saying twice I've come in and enjoyed a pour-over here, but as a specialty coffee shop I take issue with the fact that they only serve them during arbitrary hours because they claim it takes too long. When we came in and asked for a Chemex pour-over the employee reacted by saying that they only do them from 11-3, then proceeded to check their watch only to realize it was 11:05 and they could in fact make the pour-over. I imagine if it were 10:58 they would've made me wait two more minutes. It wasn't busy at all, not to mention they were still making people lattes that are similarly time consuming. Additionally, it's not as if most people are ordering pour-overs, so it's not like the entire staff would be overwhelmed making them at once. If you're going to have all of your pour-over options on the menu then maybe you should actually make them for your customers. read more
