Been shopping here since I moved in just over a year ago. Its very close to my home, so it has become my go-to grocery store. Its always well stocked, very clean and competitively priced for the area. The majority of the employees are very friendly and treat you like a valued customer. I enjoy shopping here, multiple times a week. I have held off on this review for some time, but i've had enough. Everytime I go in there is a specific employee who just treats me like crap. She will greet the person in front of me, being very friendly, as well as the one behind me, but every single time I'm there she's rude, shes short with me and seems like for no reason I can think of, dislikes me. Like blatantly, it feels bad to be in her line, but there is no other options most of the time. Today I came in to grab a few things and I noticed she was following me around the store. This is a first, but she was on me like a hawk. It made me feel pretty bad considering I spend hundreds of dollars here a week, which she knows because she checks me out in line all the time. Yet tonight I got the feeling she was almost insinuating that I was stealing. Whats odd is another couple in the store were actually acting suspicious, likely stealing, but she disregarded them and went for me. Not sure of her name because shes always rude to me, but she is the only black lady that works there. If you want to accuse me of stealing then just do it, dont follow me around, treating me different than every other customer day in and day out. I spend far too much money there to be accused of being a thief. No other employee has ever treated me with anything but kindness. Duchess was amazing!!! My company card declined and so I walked away but she called me from the parking lot and told me that there's money but the card company has to released it. To make the long story short, Duchess helped me figured out what to get with limited amount and I was able to purchase the majority of what I need for my event. Smart and Final citrus heights is so lucky to have Duchess work for their company. I'm definitely coming back and will get the rest of the stuff I need. Thanks again Duchess!!! read more

Was let down by two favorite grocers for kale and lettuce, so I stopped in to S&F for both. While I'll never be ok with this inflation insanity, I'm happy to report that the romaine lettuce heads are finally back to a substantial size/weight. Filled my oxo large salad spinner container. And for a $2 head of lettuce that's fresh, sign me up! Although it's a bit annoying the lettuce is soaked and tough to dry when keeping the head intact. Until then, this will work just fine! Eventually Costco will have fresh artisan romaine heads again! And fresh lacinato kale, too. The bunch is $2 and provided me 2 servings. I'll take it. I like cutting off the thickest stem portions and dropping them in my frozen cut fruit ziplocs in the freezer for my smoothies. read more

I'm starting to get really turned off with Smart and Final. I go there because it's convenient. Today as I'm checking out the cashier is talking with one of the girls who work there going on and on and finally she turns and says I'm sorry and then starts ringing me up. Another lady walks up and asked if she was open she said yes I had to move registers because the other scale froze up and I'm so out of breath. You just spent 2 minutes of my time shooting the crap with the other girl that works there before she was leaving to go home. Then the woman behind me. The cashier says: we have flowers they're on sale by the door. The woman responds oh. I said: if you want I could step aside so you can look at the flowers. The cashier says excuse me are we breaking your concentration I'm talking to her not to you. I responded with I'm only trying to help. I didn't know if the lady was interested in looking at the flowers. Cashier: It's between me and her and you shouldnt be getting involved. Then again from the cashier: are we breaking concentration? I said no I'm only trying to help. I said whatever brat and walked away. And the only reason why she was so talkative with the other woman because she was the same nationality as her. Me she couldn't care less. Been in the retail business for 25 years. I treat every customer the same. You want to be biased you should find another job! This is the second complaint I have made toward this grocery store. I'm going to avoid this grocery store because you people are horrible with customer service and the way you take care of things around there. No wonder the store is always dead. PS I'm not looking for an apology I'm looking for something to get done. You can apologize all you want but that doesn't fix the problem. read more

Absolutely the most rude checkers I have been exposed to ever. We were treated like 2nd class citizens by two separate employees, maybe because we are white senior citizens or because we are not Hispanic. Not sure, but being treated rudely regardless of the reason is unacceptable. I asked the first employee if they had a customer service area where we could cash in the Scratcher tickets that we purchased at this location and she said you have to wait in the grocery line to cash them in. We waited patiently in line and handled over our tickets to the cashier and she grabbed the tickets from us and walked off without saying a word. She was visibly mad that she had to cash out our tickets. Upon returning to the check out line, she said she could not process the tickets as she needed someone to override the transactions. She paged someone twice and they were speaking Spanish and complaining about how cold her hands were. Really? Just be nice to people and do your job. It is clear this store has personnel issues and hires people who don't like white people. We won't be back. read more

Plenty of parking, clean and the price is perfect!! I love Stella Artois (beer), the 12 bottles was $10++ was a steal. Didn't get it cos hubby bought us Meiome last week and we still haven't open that one just yet (save it for next week.) Nonetheless. Tomatoes are $.99 a lb, peaches were bright and not bruised. Floor is clean and items were organized. We came around 11 or so in morning, good crowd- not crowded- I like. Bought 3 pieces of pretty large New York steak for grilling today for just 7-8 bucks each. Go here- pricing is great! Staffs are friendly and you'll find just about everything you want from your usual grocery store. read more

A little over a week ago I ventured in here to get some grocery shopping done and really saved on my purchase! It's called Smart & Final Extra, because it's much larger than their regular Smart & Final stores, making it a one stop shop for all your needs at a price you can afford, awesome! I would definitely recommend shopping at this location, our cashier Collin was very helpful and friendly explaining products and giving suggestions! He explained that First Street and Iris is their brand name products, so they are the best bang for your buck, I wouldn't have of known! I know I'll be back for more savings, so far from what I tried seems decent. :-) read more

Please please stop micro managing which doors are exits or entry's. This is for all places that insist on training your customers out of some of the most basic human assumptions. We don't care about your flow plan. in the case of this store it adds very little too the flow scheme with the limited number of registers. Also stop changing which gd door is the exit. I don't want to learn tricks or specificity for you to improve flow 2% I want to come shop and granted save money shopping at your chain but pound sound on tHe door thing. read more

This is my favourite grocery store in the Fair Oaks area. The produce is first rate for this type of store. The prices are very good on the staples I use every week. There is a fantastic supply of professional grade take out plastic containers for when I make salsa and give it to my friends. The clientele tends to be professional types. Parking lot is safe. Today is the first time in a year that I have been approached by anyone selling anything- and it was an older woman selling fake flowers. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service! Lady manger had to be called from the back regarding my purchase on sale items not showing as discounted. She slowly walked out with zero urgency, the line had multiple people waiting. She first needed to find out who should be working the floor and delayed my issue even longer. She then said sorry we can't honor your discount, she was wrong but I was late and just decided to pay full price. I will never return to this store again! This woman needs to be replaced. read more

This new construction Smart & Final recently opened. I don't frequent Smart & Final stores often but do when I have a specific need. This new location is their "Extra" branded experience. Unlike many S&F locations, this is fresh, clean, new, technology smart ... but not really that much different than any other grocery store (except for a few harder to find items). Not really any bargains shopping here; prices are somewhat in line with other local discount groceries. I've noticed on a few recent stops here that customer service is lacking. Not very friendly and staff will let you know if you're interrupting or if in their way as they cart down the aisle. I don't have any reason to want to visit this location again. Nothing special and not that convenient for me. I'll stick with the Auburn Blvd location when in need. read more

Brian is the most efficient, polite and professional cashier/clerk I have experienced in a long time! Definitely 5 stars for checkout service as I had a raincheck for 8 ribeye steaks that needed to be reconciled from the current sell price. In the past, I have had confused cashiers when I redeemed my rainchecks, but Brain was exceptionally skillful and processed my purchases with careful entrees making sure I received the raincheck prices. This Smart & Final has a wonderfully stocked floral section with many tropical plants and beautiful arrangements. I picked up a flowering plumeria plant there and notice there is always some type of anthurium plants available for reasonable prices. read more

I completed my list and thought I was all good. got home with the groceries and well some how between Smart and Final and my house I lost the chicken breast. yea..the guest of honor at the bbq was M.I.A! I went back thinking that maybe I left it behind at the checker...the camera showed otherwise. I was ready to buy another do to my mistake when the manager gave me what I purchased and lost... it was my mistake and they stepped up to accommodate me. I drove my kids grandma to this store from Folsom. She has been telling me about this store for a while. She has health issues and there for CAN NOT wear a mask. I can't wear one also because of a medical issue. We stayed 6 feet from other people and made sure no one was close to us. We were told we needed masks after being in the store 10 minutes. when we said it was for medical reasons she said they would not serve us. We were done shopping anyway so when we went to checkout she told the cashier not to check us out. We told her it was a violation of the disabilities act and she didn't care. We also informed her that is my kids grandma wore a mask it could cause her to have a heart attack her response was that is not my problem. She was also apparently the manager. Very nice grocery store with helpful employees. They have a weekly sales flyer with most sales items grouped near the front door. Aisles are very narrow and have displays sticking out to where two carts cannot pass each other. Parking lot is very tight with ongoing construction zones. This is a nice addition to the area and has helped to clean up a previously 'eyesore' corner. read more

The prices marked on the clearance or discounted shelves are not reflected at the register. If your not paying attention you will have a higher bill than you should. The cashiers don't have clue what is going on or what's on sale. This is sad because it's my neighborhood grocery store. read more

I've had nothing but great experiences here. I've always been treated well by staff and have always had friendly encounters with everyone, including other patrons. Price wise I find it similar to other "discount grocery stores", however I find it much less packed. I can do a majority of my shopping without cramped isles and 15 other people just stopping in the middle of the isle. Not a huge fan of the parking lot, but that's not the stores fault. read more

I know the Smart & Final is a newer location but it has been well-staffed and is very clean and accessible. Eric, Jennifer, Nathan, Michaela are all great clerks that work there along with some of the newer staff that have come on recently. Brings back that old Lucky's feeling whenever there was three or more to a line somebody will be up to the register ASAP. Recommend for your basic grocery needs. read more

I am usually cautious about shopping at Smart and Final stores,until I shopped in this store on Madison and Sunrise shortly after they opened and I love this store.First of all the store is bright and neat and clean and very well stocked.It seems to me that the Smart and Final Corporation has decided to upgrade their stores to attract more clientele and it definitely shows.I don't buy everything there but they have a ton of stuff.I buy everything from my groceries for home to a ton of items for my business! I couldn't wait until this one opened! I received the "opening soon" in my mail box, and the count down was on. I usually shop at the one on Auburn Blvd and they tried to convert that one to more "grocery" friendly..so.....I was excited! However.......after my most recent visit on 5/16/16, I am sorry I spent my money there. As far as choices...in the produce section, nice, but the prices like any other. The sale was nice, on meats. As for other choices, like I said it was okay. My biggest disappointment was with the most unenthusiastic staff. The produce person, was right next to me and as I smiled, because he was blocking the isle, he just stared right through me. NO smile, no Hi, nothing just blank. fine..moving on to the cashier(s) At least one guy said hi, but he was entirely too busy standing there to guide me to his "empty" lane, as I waited for a lined one. In fact, her line got shorter, he went back to his own spot. hum! Then, came my gal, per my receipt, the name says "Jol" yup, throwing it out there! Um, what happened to HI, how are you? Did you find all you were looking for? I got "crickets" I mean, I might as well went to Walmart, really. She was Ghetto, fingernails long and flashy, talking to the chic behind her, like I didn't exist. Greeting and talking to the gal in the other line, because she "knew" her. I was like, WOW, why did I waste my time. I live right next to Raleys. After spending 130.00 or so, I was just very very saddened and almost asked for the manager. I was just so done already! My husband shopped there 1/03/2017. While there he noticed there were at least 6 gallons of expired milk on the shelves and told an employee who gave hubby 2 gallons of milk he claimed were not expired(husband SHOULD have checked but took his word) Got them home NOPE expired as was TWO things of yogurt plus 2 loaves of bread!!!! I called and the manager said no problem bring in the receipt and the boxes fro the expired yogurt and he would reimburse us. I told him we had just thrown the milk out, he said no problem just bring the receipt. Husband went up with receipt,boxes,etc...... The assistant manager refused to reimburse us for the milk because he had no proof it was expired? Even though the store manager had told me no problem and the receipt clearly showed 2 gallons purchased!!! We will take our business to the Auburn Blvd store from now on where we have always received excellent service!! read more
