After dealing with an unresponsive and not proactive locator, I turned to Smart City to assist me with finding an apartment in Austin. I figured use an apartment locator since I'm unfamiliar with the area. I put in my request via their website and within minutes, an agent Mr. Santos began texting me asking what I was looking for. He was very proactive and even called me to gather more information from me. He gave me tips as well. I told him I'm interested in immediate move-in. I told him my preferred area and budget about $1,200 - $1,399. I figured I could find something in Austin like I was already paying in Houston. He recommended I view The Olivine as he just showed another client. It took him at least two days to formulate a list of apartments with what they offer. However, majority of the apartments were extremely low budget, roach infested, horrible staff, rats galore. All of their Google reviews showed. That was one thing that I specifically told him that I wasn't interested in and yet, that's exactly what I received. Little did I know, affordable rent of my budget would include these things. I thought he would show me the apartments listed on their website for that price. I immediately told him that the apartments that were shown were undesirable and not to my liking. He asked if I would rather up my budget. I told him that I'd like to change my budget to $1,400 - $1,500. He told me great and would contact me as soon as he found something. I told him that I'm also interested in an apartment with a park nearby and preferably a hiking trail on site. Mr. Santos was puzzled to my request. I told him that I wasn't interested in paying the $25 or more service for Valet Trash. He grew even more puzzled saying that's what most apartments offer. Days went by and then weeks. I reached out to Mr. Santos and received no response. I figured this agent dropped me without saying a word!! I thought how unprofessional then maybe this is how ALL agents operate. I wasn't sure as this was my second time using an apartment locator in Austin. Out of nowhere, today, I received a text saying Mr. Santos no longer works for the company. Geez, it's been more than time passed and I finally receive a heads up. Thankfully, I found myself a place that meets my needs and wants even in the desired budget. read more

Within minutes after filling out an easy questionnaire on a late Friday afternoon, the awesome Kate followed up with me over text. Her positive attitude was incredibly motivating in a time when I was feeling stressed and overwhelmed. She didn't even get annoyed (or show her annoyance :P) when I ended up sticking to options in a particular area, even though she went the extra mile to find stuff outside the area because I said I'd be open to it. And when I was about to jump the gun on another place, she gently nudged me towards my now home, knowing it was the better fit. She didn't push, just shared her perspective and past experiences with other clients, which I really appreciated. I have to move due to increasing rent by February 17th. I had some very specific needs, mainly the first floor, with nearby handicapped parking, 2 beds, 1-2 baths, with a budget. I was being literally ignored by another service and in a panic. Requested a consultation around noon on a Friday. I had a customer service rep text me within 10 minutes of request. Gave her my "must-have" and "want" lists. She said my locator would be reaching out soon. Less than 30 minutes later, I received a text from Hadley, my locator. She received my info but would be in a meeting until 4. asked if she could call then. Of course. At 3:45, she texted her meeting was running over. Could she call at 4:10. Yes! And I was already feeling better with timely communication. Hadley called at appointed time, and we had a nice chat. She said she'd start pulling listings and get the list over by Monday. Sunday (day earlier than expected) I received a text from Hadley that she was sending a list over. She listened to my needs, and I just needed to give her my choices, and she'd get virtual tours set up. I looked at the list and had some questions. Monday, we were in almost constant communication as she spoke with the different offices, getting answers to every single question. And by 3 p.m., I had entered an application on an apartment!! Hadley kept in constant contact, waiting for the approval. Then came an even bigger, more wonderful surprise!! Another customer service rep contacted me to start helping me get utilities, cable, etc., set up, plus a list of movers she'd help me get set up with, plus a discount for those services. I was pleasantly gobsmacked. I don't have to call, research, all that? Nope, I am now a "member" of the Smart City Family. BONUS! I didn't expect such quick results, I just wanted frequent communication on what was happening. And now I have an apartment that meets my needs and my wants. There was no pressure to up my budget, no attempts to upsell me for a larger commission. Plus, the added services to help things be easier and less stressful. All included. My son will need to move in about six months, and they've already decided to use this service. I've also told several friends about this company. For someone like me, immunocompromised and with chronic, debilitating illness, customer service is so important, and Smart City, Hadley, and their company really raised the bar. I can be an extremely neurotic person about certain things so I began looking for apartments for my July 2021 move-in starting in December of last year. Somewhere along the way, I found a Smart City ad on IG and was connected with the wonderful Emma Tasker who made my search so much easier and provided some peace of mind! I had already done a lot of research before reaching out and already had the places I wanted to look at in mind, and Emma was able to set up tours for each place that worked with my schedule. In the end, it was one of her recommendations that I hadn't even considered before that I ended up signing with!
