Pros: Affordable and accommodating. The bins they provide along with extra boxes were a huge help. They provide pick up and drop off of bins/boxes pre-move for a reasonable cost too. The movers were friendly, efficient, and professional. Cons: I wouldn't expect reusable moving bins to be spotless by any means, just clean with no residue and smell I think would be acceptable to most. Our bins were in fact like this which was fine by me. What was frustrating and went unresolved after reaching back out to Smart Move was an extra charge post move for cleaning our bins. This was never mentioned when we made our reservations over phone and email. If we received spotless, brand new bins, that would be one thing. But these were already gently used and we did what most people would which was put stickers and tape on the bins to indicate which rooms certain bins would go to. Side note, many bins we received came like this from the prior move or moves before us so we saw no need to scrub off every piece of tape we applied. Smart Move, please communicate better what extra charges you can or plan to apply so future customers aren't surprised when they see added charges from you post move! Or at minimum, if you're going to charge bin cleaning fees, make sure the bins you send out are spotless and cleaned after every move completely. Hold yourselves to the same high standard you hold your customers to when it comes to cleanliness. read more

Smart Moves is the storage company assigned to me by my insurance company after my house flooded. i was skeptical at first because I didn't have a say in who was going to be taking my Ethan Allen furniture and belongings. I have to say, though, that Smart Moves did an excellent job. The workers were careful with my furniture and wrapped it in padding plus plastic. If I requested not to have my furniture stored on it's side or stacked, they honored my request. I will say I packed my own boxes. They would've done it, but I preferred to do that myself. Every mover who loaded/unloaded my stuff was professional and I could tell they were working hard. That includes Sal, Tony, Scott and a few others whose names I didn't catch. They stored it in an air-conditioned unit and it all came back without dents or bugs! They were also on-time. i can't speak to the price because insurance took care of that. I recently used Smart Moves and had a great experience, The guys came in and went right to work, They loaded up the truck like it was nothing. They prepared each piece of furniture in plastic and or padding. They where super careful with our valued belongings along with being courteous and efficient which saved us money. We had to put all of our belongings into Smart Moves storage facility while we're building a house. Hannah, owner of Smart Moves arranged the whole process like a pro! Two weeks prior to our move we had Hannah deliver a 16 x 20 ' POD. This was a big money saver. They're like new and water tight. We packed all of our boxes and our entire 2 cat garage into one POD. They were hired by our insurance company during a leak repair. They broke several items including one of a kind Italian Ceramic piece and then tried to cover it up! They took the broken piece left the rest of the bowl and then we had to call them and ask what happened. The process to get it repaired, they will not reimburse you even if you show a receipt, took 3 months and they lied several times and did not care about the customer's experience. Humans make mistakes, it's what you do with them that matters. This company will take no ownership and will make it very difficult for the right thing, or what you want, to be done. BUYER BEWARE. I had used Smart Moves many, many times over the years This time they pack and loaded my whole home in Delray Beach and moved to St Pete and stored everything for a couple of months. So they take everything away and it shows up months later at the new location. They movers delivered everything and there were only 4 boxes besides the large furniture items. They never numbered the boxes. I told them it was impossible that when I left I had a house full, and now only 4 boxes. They stood over me and said they could not leave until I signed saying I had everything. I knew I didn't but felt helpless. Now I am missing all of my silverware (I had a nice set), baking pans and dishes, fancy art plates that my husband had purchased for us before he passed, and the list goes on. Absolutely, positively do not use Move Smart. They lied to me, made promises that they had no intention of keeping and when they showed up on the day of the move, they told me that it would cost a whole lot more money than we agreed to. In addition, we had agreed that my possessions would be kept in storage so I would have access to it in the town I was moving to until I was able to move into my new home. When the movers showed up, they told me that they were taking my furniture to New Jersey...a state that is 11 hours away from the one I was moving to! Needless to say, I terminated my relationship with Move Smart on the spot. It then took an enormous amount of energy on my part, on a day that I planned on moving, before I was able to convince the people at the Move Smart offices to refund me my deposit. When you reach an agreement with a moving company you expect to put one major part of your life, not to mention your possessions, in the hands of people you trust. Moving day for us from St Petersburg to Bradenton was made easy and worry free from the moment James and Kelvin parked the van in front of our home. They took excellent care of our belongings. Movers were polite and courteous. They showed up on time and began working immediately. Furniture was broken down and even brought to my attention that a screw was missing from the nightstand when delivered. I was quoted one price of $660 and paid almost $30 dollars more for packing materials!a! Tape and furniture shrink wrap!!I have never heard of that being added after the initial estimate! Also, the legs were put on incorrectly for the nightstand that had all of the correct screws. This moving company sucks. They charged me an arm and leg. They packed a truck partially, then stopped because of the rain. The rain stopped an hour later. This was on a Saturday, they don't work on Sunday. They delivered my bed only, so my kids and I had somewhere to sleep. The guy in charge told me they'd unload Monday. Monday came and after waiting a while, I called and they said they'd deliver it Tuesday. No one ran that by me or called me to tell me. Moving took 3 days when it should have been one, and the cost was outrageous. $1700, the move was in the same city, and they left most of the stuff downstairs, which is supposed to cut the cost. We cannot say enough great things about Smart Move, and everyone at the company. We have moved a total of 6 times in the last 7 years (moves within NY, from NY to FL, and within FL) and Smart Move is hands down the best company we have worked with. From the initial virtual walk-through to provide us with an accurate quote, to the full-service packing service and moving our belongings (and large pieces of furniture) to storage and finally to our home, Hannah was extremely responsive and incredibly accommodating. We had to reschedule our moves 3 times (all at the last minute due to complications with our contractor), and each time, Hannah responded within the hour (sometimes within minutes) and rescheduled us without delay. She even proactively reached out and let us know of two better time slots right before a scheduled move! The movers, Sal and Rob, packed everything with such care that not a single item was broken. The only thing that broke was 2 wine glasses but that's because I dropped them when unwrapping! Sal and Cameron delivered our items and they worked quickly, efficiently and took amazing care with setting us back up. I used Smart Moving to Pack and Store my household furnishings. I will never use this company again and would advise others not to use them. I agree with the earlier comment...these are the worst movers ever. The lamp shades were in the bottom of a wardrobe box with comforters thrown on top, unprotected and crushed. Other lamp shades were put in a box unprotected with hard objects, crushed beyond repair. Separating the table base from the top the broke the wood attachment. The arm of the lamp was broken so I cannot attach a shade. I should have done better research prior to selecting this company. read more

would have gave a zero if possible, do not use this company!!! the home page has nothing but good testimonials, not one negative, makes you think, we were renting a condo on the beach for several years, wanted to check out the area before we purchased, we decided to by a beach bungalow, and gutted the entire house to remodel it, march of this year we had a severe rain storm, and the condo just had a new roof put on it, during the rain the roof drainage was not working, we were on the 10th floor of an 11 story condo, our entire condo had 4 to 5 inches of water in it, servo pro came in and could not stop it, so we had 24 hours to move out because of the mold potential, the land lord listing agent handled it one of his clients ( Smart Move ) could do it, I didn't care because they were paying for the first month and it was relatively close to the house. 5 months later we are finally ready to move some of our stuff out of storage, my wife goes there with a moving company College Hunks, upon arriving they asked for the movers $1,000,000 general liability ins and $100,000/ $300,000 auto and workers comp and employers ins. we had to wait in the office for 1 1/2 hours for the movers to provide this before we could move, then we go back and start moving a portion of the furniture, upon opening the storage unit we see our leather couch had been gouged and torn on the arm and back, lamps and computer components just put in a box with no wrapping, several lamps and computer monitor were damaged to the point of not usable, 2 chase lounge chairs all 4 legs on both were broke right of cant be used, when the manager said that we already signed off on the release, nothing we could do, so we took picture, meanwhile the entire interaction was met with attitude and animosity, move a head another month we used a different moving company because the guys that moved us the last time said they would not go back to that place again. it would take two pages to explain half of the BS we had to put up with, in the end the police were called after she used profanity and insulted me and wife the Police officers that arrived could not believe what was happening, the owner wants to trespass me from the property, i asked the officer could they believe this crap, and they said yes its not the first time they have had to respond to that location for the same reason. i have the office encounter on video, I will be posting it it some forum. she wanted to thank me for making her famous by recording the encounter. use this company at your own risk, along with there Price gouging tactics they use once they have your stuff and give you the final bill.... read more

If their employees driving abilities reflect their moving abilities you may want to look elsewhere. If your employees can't figure out proper following distance and when to apply their brakes so as to not almost rear ended someone (especially in the pouring rain) I'm sure I can find a police officer to show them. This company has to be one of the worst out there. The day of our move, the guy who was in charge of the move came in and was incredibly rude right off the bat. He was shocked that we had furniture AND boxes to move. He kept asking, "Am I moving this?" We explained that we hired him to move us, so we needed all the furniture and boxes moved. He acted very put out and said that the amount of items we had was not on the moving estimate he had. Basically said we should have told them that we had furniture AND boxes. Of course, we already had. He was not professional at all. It turned out that the office and the movers had two different estimates. We never found out why or why he would have thought people who were moving would only want some of their items moved. It seems that the company is simply disorganized. Secondly, the moving company sent three men after we had asked for two. The guy in charge of the move basically told us that there was nothing he could do. We now had to pay for three men instead of the two we had requested ($50 more an hour). He was unwilling to do anything about it. After a long phone conversation back to the office (initiated by us), they finally did relent and charge us only for two. But we really had to fight for it. Their intent was obviously to broadside us with the three men and try to bully us into paying the additional fee. They also broke a few pieces of furniture and damaged a few others. We stopped payment on the check and reached out to them for some sort of appeasement. They offered us $20. At this point, we are making the payment and filing a claim for the damages. They also left a mattress moving cover. They said that they would be back within a week, but never returned. If you are looking for movers, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Moving is stressful enough without having to deal with rude, careless movers on top of it. read more

Wouldn't use them again if someone paid me to use them. Crew that loaded the furniture and boxes left empty spaces that could have been used more efficiently. On top of that obviously heavy boxes were loaded on top of light boxes (which were subsequently crushed). To top it off a table with pedestal legs was loaded without removing the legs and then boxes stacked on top of it until the weight actually ended up crushing the legs. The owners, despite having mutliple pictures of how their employees loaded the goods have disavowed responsibility for the damage to any of the goods loaded (especially the table). When I hired them I just put my son to rest. I was very upset from that and the move it was a really got worse. They lost or broke so much of my things it is not funny! They took all my belongings out of the pod before the movers got there. So when they got there they told me what a mess it was. Mind you I had paid up front to have smart moves to move me.They should of packed the moving truck. I had paid for that to be done by them! Then I had to pay like 275.00 more for the storage that I was being charged over 350.00 a month! Plus I paid them to load and unload me! They think that taking my things out of the pod and put it on the grown is enough? NO! So I had to pay the new movers 500.00 more to have them do it because they didn't bother to compleat the job. They just charged me more money! Plus they (smart moves) lost and destroyed my things. I tried to contact them to say what the heck is going on. They emailed me and said oh no the people that moved me here did it! I am sorry no that is not true! They got there to smart moves they found my things on the ground open boxes ect. I am so over this I can't deal with them anymore. I know they won't give me back my albums and fix the things that are broken so I just want all my money back! Please just let me have that at least. We hired them to move and store our furniture while we looked for another house on the water in Clearwater/Bellaire/St Pete Beach. We read reviews and we were assured we were in good hands. They did not properly wrap our new coaches or any of the furniture when we paid them to so it got dirty and stained and they stacked other hardwood oak furniture on other new tables and caused damage. Note: most of our furniture was less then 18 months old and in a million dollar home and not used often so how could it get damaged? Our furniture was less than 18 months old and brand new and the female adjuster tried to tell us well that is not what our paperwork states. Yes, we buy damaged furniture and put it into our lux home on the water because we are just stupid. Well, beware of their motives when agreeing to damage when packing. We made the mistake of hiring them to pack, move and store and when they pack they point all damage out but they don't detail it properly so its open ended to cover their poor packing of your belongings. They will point things out and then note it and get you to agree as they point something out but they don't put the detail only an open ended form. In other words, you need to note it is (one) 1 stain or (1) one small scratch and if you do not the woman who does the adjustment will just say well the paperwork is not wrong. Honesty is not their strong point in filing a complaint about damage at all. And we had pictures and we were told we were still wrong. They just open end it so they can nickel and dime after their crappy movers and "climate controlled storage" causes move damage and/or water/humidity damage and more scratches on your expensive furniture. They don't allow you to note detail on the forms and you are pressured to sign. They are not ethical and fraudulently pressure you and do not put any effort into detail; the more vague the better for them so buyer beware; stay clear of them and the "climate controlled storage" too. Its not worth the $250+ a month unless you want humidity and water damage and thousands in furniture ruined. read more

If you want your furniture in one piece, do not use this company to move!!! The salesman was very professional when selling the move the first day, but everything changed quickly. The day they were supposed to pack up my home, they called and said they would be late, then called again and said they could not come at all. I had this scheduled for almost two months, and my move was in two days! They came the next day, a day I had a class paid for, so I lost $80 for my class. I asked for that reimbursement...never got it even though it was their fault. The packers showed up unhappy that they were sent out on Sunday and left many cupboards and items not packed. The day of the move two young men showed up, made a big dent in the wall of the condo, told me it's a 5 dollar patch job and told me that they heard me the first time when I asked them to watch the walls, very rude and nasty to me during the move, made rude comments. Told me they didn't care about a good referral because they are already so busy. It took all day for them to pack up my 2 bedroom condo. Because they were driving too fast with a full load of furniture, when they had to make a sudden stop, my furniture was crushed, my office equipment, instead of being packed properly by the packers, was thrown into one big speed box and printers were broken, my ceramic floor lamp was broken, pottery, my hutch, couch arms were scuffed, my stone coffee table had two legs completely severed, and my headboard was left with shrink wrap holding it together. They never even told me they had broken it and just left it that way. I was charged $1800 for this job. The only thing the owners would do was send repair people to glue, nail, patch and solder my furniture back together. I am left with patched up furniture. It took over two months for the last piece to be "repaired." I only asked for them to pay for the new coffee table ($300) which I had to purchase, which was half the value of the one they ruined. They would not do it. They insisted on fixing the broken legs. I have moved many times and never had damage like this ever. read more
