Joon's team of painters did it again, a fabulous, clean, painting of a home. Two years ago, Smart painting painted the exterior of my home and finished on time within a week. They filled in cracks, and even made the window frames look new with their masterful painting. Two weeks ago, Smart painting painted my large living room, with its about 18 feet's tall stucco walls and elaborate molding, entirely in one day with a 3 person team. They arrived in early AM on time and finished the painting within a day, moving furniture and everything back. Apparently they won't come give an estimate if the work isn't being done in the next month or two. And if you want them to come out for an estimate and your project is past that time line, it's $100. Even though their Yelp page says free consultations? Immediately after my husband called and said we had a project that needed an estimate, the guy on the phone asked if we wanted them to come out on Friday - to PAINT. They're the first company that didn't want to come out or give an estimate until we were ready to paint. The guy on the phone was super curt and rude for some reason too. Maybe a bad day? Either way, not very "smart" business behavior. The guy who picked up was giving the excuse that "costs would change by the time our project would start" so no reason for him to come out. We were very amenable and told him that we were looking to get an estimate so we could budget appropriately hoping he could meet us in the middle and be understanding. We understood costs would increase and could budget for that if given at least a baseline. He was just really difficult to have this conversation with even though our project is big. I wouldn't go with this company if you want a partner on the project. Good thing there's many other painters out there! read more

Wonderful job by Joon Park and his team of Smart Painting professionals After years of delayed maintenance, we decided to have the house painted which included a courtyard arbor that also needed repair of at least 25-2x2x12 beams and 1-large cross beam. Joon Park impressed us with his advice and attention to details when he viewed our house and arbor. In late February 2023, we decided to move forward with Smart Painting because of Joon, and that he had access to carpenters for the arbor repair. Then we waited for the rain to stop. In late March 2023, Joon called stating there will be a window of sunshine coming up. That he was pulling teams off of other jobs to get our house painted and arbor repaired in 4-days! WOW, I've never seen so many people crawling all over the house. The team's attention to detail was fabulous. Prior to painting, the team power washed, scraped, caulked cracks in the stucco, caulked the board & batten as well as the panels in the garage door. The painters and the carpenters did a great job and cleaned up after themselves every day. Joon reviewed the work and called painters back to touch up areas he found were not to his exacting standards. We highly recommend Smart Painting! read more

Joon was very quick to respond to my request for an initial meeting to get bid for the job. In fact, he ended up coming by the same day to review the job and generate a quote. Overall, the price was fair and in line with many others. But I liked that Joon helped me understanding the various options we had related to painting the interior of my house. He also helped me by suggesting color families that would compliment my existing flooring and cabinets. The team who painted my house did a great job. They showed up every day on time. They always cleaned up at the end of each day. Explained what was completed that day and what the plan was for the following day. When all was said and done I felt there were too many little mistakes, hence this unfavorable review. The interior of my house was painted to today's new white, Swiss Coffee. They did a fine job on the walls, ceiling, base molding, and doors. My disappointment was the places where paint shouldn't have been. Many of the electrical outlets and switches had paint. This turned out to be less of a problem since the lightness of the new paint color, Swiss Coffee, meant that I had to replace all the ivory outlets and switches to white. That was an unexpected burden of about $200 and nearly two days of busy work. I suggest that anyone who might paint a lighter color factor in this addition task. Then there was paint in many odd places that shouldn't have been: Bathroom shower tiles, glass windows, sliding mirrored doors, and various places on my stone and hardwood floors. Thankfully all the ill-placed paint was easily removed with methanol, but that was a time consuming task. And when the painters returned my drapes to their rods, they were placed randomly rather than a right panel to the right side and a left panel to the left side. Even the drapery rods, when replaced, were not securely fastened. It's too bad that things didn't go smooth because working with Smart Painting was a pleasure. read more

I'm thoroughly satisfied with the service and results we received from Joon and Smart Painting. Joon is prompt and easy to communicate with. He came out quickly to give an estimate for both painting entire exterior of house and dry rot/porch repair. The repairs were handled well, although I do wish we would have ripped up more early on to firmly establish the extent of what was needed. Regardless, everything was repaired, and painted expertly. Final touch ups were done, and Joon checked in a few days later to offer a few more touchups, which were much appreciated as well. I'd gotten multiple quotes, and one of the things that tipped me toward Joon was the extensive/clear paperwork he sent over discussing being licensed, and diligent approaches employed. Smart Painting just completed our exterior painting and we're amazed both at the quality of their work and how totally stress-free it can be working with a contractor. Joon and his team are absolutely top-notch and professional. We got super quick response from Joon on coming out to look at our house and got the estimates the same night. Joon took the time to explain to me how they're going to tackle the project, what type of paint they'll use and approximate timeline all very clearly. On the first day Joon personally came to introduce his foreman to us and to answer any questions we have. I was told by Joon there's nothing I need to do as a customer, they take care of everything. His team show up on time everyday, very polite and gentle, work really hard and caused very minimal disruption to our daily life. Literally all they ever asked me to do was to unlock a couple of doors so they could paint them. On the last day, Joon came personally to inspect the work of his team and they were detailed in touching up. They were also very open to us pointing out any spots that needs correction or touch ups. Their clean up work is one of best I've ever seen, we couldn't find any pieces of trash, card boxes or masking tape anywhere. All our furnitures were neatly moved back to their original spots. Our HOA recently told all the homeowners in our development that we needed to get our home exteriors repainted. Smart Painting was one of the contractors that they recommended, and they did a great job! They were charging a discounted flat rate for all the houses in our development, so we didn't have the extra time of getting somebody out here to do an estimate. The work took four days from start to finish, and did a very professional job. The house looks great. They dealt with our neighbors directly when they had to get into their yards to paint our house. When they were done, they put all our patio furniture back where we had it. They also had to trim some trees, and they hauled all the trimmings away afterwards as well. Had my entire two-story exterior house repainted (3500sf+) and that includes 3 side doors, a main front door, and the stucco fences, etc. Joon was able to match the color exactly we wanted. The painters did a pretty detailed job from power washing the entire exterior into the final touch into the 6th day. The price was at the middle high-end but we think it was worth it for the work quality that we get in return. The one slight problem we had was the painters broke several of our roof tiles. We hired Smart Painting to remove crown molding from a room with 12-foot ceilings, smooth the walls, and paint it. They were highly professional from start to finish. They were always responsive, very easy to communicate with, and gave us a quick estimate over the phone.
