Called Smart last spring based on good Yelp review. I had a small job--replace flashing. Owner came out, said they'd do it in a month for $200. It's now been a year & despite calling to check a couple of times, we've gotten nothing from these people. Very disappointing. Won't be calling them again. read more

As posted to the BBB complaint site 11/20/2017. Will update as the situation progresses. For now STAY AWAY! Approximately 60 days ago, the representatives from smart roofing came to my door even though there is a clearly posted sign that states "no salesmen". Against my better judgement I allowed them to look at my roof. I was told a new roof was needed and was presented options. Since I am a single income household, I made it a point to ensure that I asked and verified that NO funds would be needed out of my pocket...Ever. This was met with an "affirmative" no less than 6-10 times. As per that aspect, I decided to proceed with the roofing job, again verifying that there would be no cost out of my pocket. Again "no Sir. Nothing out of pocket". Subsequently, I received a card on my doorstep from one of the project managers stating that the salesman that came had a personal emergency and would no longer be on my project. There was a lot of discussion around "subsidies", and the fact that smart roofing were experts in making sure that the claim would be maximized. Again, "with no out of pocket costs." A check was received from state farm. At the time there were still questions as to what the scope of work would be, and that Smart Roofing would get back to me. The next call that was received was from Wells Fargo. The representative stated that there was a call received by Genesis Capital wanting specific PCI level data on my account and wanted to know if it was okay to release this data to them. I explained to the Wells rep that "given recent security concerns with Wells Fargo, that I was reluctant to release any information to any person whom I could not identify. I suggested that the representative get the Genesis representative on a conference call so that they could be verified. The Wells rep informed me that the number that was provided by the Genesis rep was a "non- working number". I instructed Wells that no information was to be released. This evening 7/20/2017 at approximately 6:30 PM a person stating that they were from Genesis capital and was here to resolve "the issue". I explained that no checks will be released until I know the scope of the work that is being performed as Smart roofing still needed to get back to me with some answers. I was then told that I was being served with an "intent to Lien" on my primary residence for the amount of the check from state farm. This individual realized that I was irate and began to take pictures of myself and my home while letting me know " state law says we can lien your property, and we WILL seek 3x damages, you have been legally served, go ahead call your lawyer, we're going to call your mortgage and insurance company too". Papers were left on my doorstep, not handed to me. Aside from the invasion of privacy, threatening tactics, poor ethics and deceptive means used to serve me with papers for work that has not yet even been scheduled, there is the issue of what I was told and what is actually happening. The Genesis representative was there only to serve me with fraudulent papers. I also see that they have an "F" rating. There was supposed to be a new roof, gutters, part of my covered patio and some other items that Smart roofing promised "with zero cost out of pocket" as of yet, all I have are lies and a lien on my property to go along with the stress of potentially having to fight a mechanics lien for work that has not been performed. Thus far the entire process has been deceptive, and both companies should be investigated to the highest degree. In speaking with the Smart roofing project manager, it was stated that "this should not be happening, that nothing has been contracted for" The owner (who would not get on the phone) even after numerous requests stated (through the project manager) that "neither the owner or myself (the project manager) have any knowledge of this issue or who Genesis Capital is". This is highly unusual and even more suspect than the claims from Smart Roofing as to what could be accomplished and for "no money out of pocket" UPDATE 6/27/2018 All has been resolved. Everyone has a bad hire every now and then; it's just a fact of being a business owner. Dave was unfortunate to have had one. Dave and I discussed what was promised and were able to agree on the work to be done. Dave was courteous, understanding and professional. Were it not for our historically unpredictable Colorado weather, I'm certain that we would have been done a long time ago. The quality was EXCELLENT! It's very impressive to see a man stand strongly behind their brand, Dave is an honest man and will do the right thing for his clients. He has done exactly that for me. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND SMART ROOFING. Honest, professional people with very STRONG ETHICS and values. read more

Value Would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. They do not take pride in their work. Our roof process began the end of may and was not finished until middle of November. My husband wrote them a check in July after they finally came up with a bid. They did not install the roof until October. Then there was issues with getting an inspection due their insurance issues with the city. All the while the work was not done properly. Things that were agreed upon were not done. Dave and the team over at Smart Roofing are the best in the business. I got a free roof inspection after a storm last year. Then Dave and his team of very talented individuals worked with me to design the best look and feel of my roof for my house. Smart Roofing also made several recommendations which turned out to be very helpful. Although he put my roof on my home almost a year ago, it still looks brand new. I wanted to wait until we went through all the seasons to see how well the roof, venting, ice & water shield, and other appurtenances held up. They all performed wonderfully! I would recommend Smart Roofing before any other roofing company in Denver. read more

I paid Smart Roofing in full for services provided. I have since received a statement of lien on my property from Elite Roofing Supply, the supplier of the materials to Smart Roofing for my home. I have spoken with the owner of Smart Roofing and he claims it is all a mistake, yet more than 2 weeks have gone by and this issue has not been resolved and I have not heard from the owner since. I have also spoken to Elite Roofing and they claim that Smart Roofing still owes them for materials provided for my home. read more

I had a wonderful experience with this company. They went the extra mile to help me get my roof replaced when it was damaged by hail. My representative, Dave, got up on my roof with the insurance adjuster to ensure I was treated fairly. Dave was available throughout the process to answer and discuss any questions that arose with honesty and integrity. The material used was top notch and the crew was fast efficient and polite. My roofing agent was Dave. He was on top of my installation from beginning to end. He spent time explaining the process which included dealing with the insurance adjuster as my roof was hail damaged. He went up on the roof with the adjuster and was there on the day of installation. The install went really smooth and all was accomplished in a timely fashion - the cleanup was immaculate. Dave even followed through with the county inspector by placing ladders to facilitate the inspection. I do recommend Dave and his roofing company. read more
