Service is horrible. There is never anyone in the office to assist you. I waited over a hour for someone to finally come and check me into my unit. I kept calling the number on the door and it just kept going to the voicemail because no one actually works there. Then my passcode to get into the gate of the storage unit itself isn't working but I see the monthly payment was automatically taken out of my account this week so it wasn't a payment issue. Again, no one in the office to assist and no one answers the phones there. Dont even bother wasting your time or money here. Not to mention it's infested with cockroaches. read more

This place has raised the rent twice in under 6 months stating 'maintaining high standards' as the reason - there no access to clean bathrooms/facilities, the same trash and dust in hallways NEVER is removed (and sometimes it is food that tenants leave behind!), I got stuck in their elevators twice, and their A/C feels like it's set at 95 degrees. It certainly doesn't feel like they even have a concerned employee visit the floor our unit is on, let alone maintain any high standards!! Absolutely disgusting . Save your money and your sanity and store your belongings elsewhere. read more

Man that helped me check in was very nice and helpful. I had already done most of the stuff on-line so it was quick and easy. The unit was exactly what I wanted and was cheaper than other places. Very few places had the size that I needed. Would recommend. read more

I have rented storage units from Bradenton, Tampa and Wellington over the past 30 years. While this place ranks up there in cleanliness, they will raise the rent on your storage unit every 4 months. I moved in just under two years, and my rent is double from when I started for the same unit $82-$164. They are playing the odds that once you move in, you will find it a hassle to move back out to another location offering cheaper rents. I used to be with CubeSmart for 3 years, and moved out of there because they raised rents annually. Still me rent never doubled like this in such a short period of time. I say, by pass this place and look for a reliable business, that will lock in a longer term rate with you for your financial security. read more

Our veterans Network has decided to pull out of SmartStop for raising the rent to two or three times during this pandemic. Just now at 4:07 PM the lady told us she did not care if we pulled out even though we've been a customer for two years and two units. So they force you to come and move in confined spaces during a pandemic, or you can pay what they demand.She also states did not care if our business and all of our associates rent from SmartStop and are now pulling out. She then got an attitude and she said that "I'm at 98% occupancy whenever I want to be so it doesn't matter to me " - All we said was that it was too bad the company raised rent again and forced people to pay or move. They could've offered something early on, even the right conversation, and we would've stayed, but instead we got an attitude upon checking out. She made us wait outside (that was ok if done for safety, with only one person in there). There were two in there before us, and nothing was said until she wanted us out. She then added it was going to be even longer since she decided to complete a lease and everything else with the gentleman in front of us inside the store instead of us allowing us to leave. Still, that part is understandable if done without the obvious. Since we now felt we couldn't trust SmartStop, we stayed. It's clearly the most rude attitude we have ever seen. We have spent thousands per year over decades with storage firms, this was the worst we have ever seen anyone treated let alone us. This occurred at the Wellington location. This business does not care about veterans, business, professionalism, nor any human interest whatsoever. Update: I just spoke to the corporate office and they refused to provide an address where we could send it timeline and a letter. We asked six times in six times they refused to provide an address that was publicly available as we found out eventually. All they could give me was a district manager name and said we would have to handle things locally. It could have simply been, " sorry the company decided to raise rent again". Or, even "let's check you all out after I'm done". She tried everything she could to get us to leave. No one from our party was rude nor loud. It is all recorded. When we handled yet another demand from them to check out, which ensuring the removal of all items from their campus made sense. We said and acknowledged that. The issue was that she tried to intervene with a discussion with another customer and us. We were fulfilling her request immediately instead of making her and anyone else wait longer, which we paid $50 for. Good thing one of us was bilingual and understood as she attempted Spanish with another customer that agreed to remove it for us. She then said "I read what you said on your call in an email " as if that would bother us. She then refused, during and after completing the account closure to speak to the spouse. So, we had to ask through one person to repeat what we asked. She tried to belittle and effect us negatively anyway she could in our opinion. After she said the account was closed, she wouldn't answer that no further obligations (on video) existed. We had to keep asking through someone. Again, no one from our party ever got unprofessional or loud. We feel this behavior was deliberate and purposeful towards us, and it didn't start until we mentioned our veterans and the statement that we didn't think the company was acting fairly. We reinforced at that time we weren't talking about her, just their policy. That we are sending in writing to the Dept of Consumer Affairs in CA. We found the corporate address on our own since they refused to provide it. We believe the rate hikes, possibly more, are a pattern of practice.
