Absolutely loved this place. The food was so good. We had to have it the next day as well! I love that everything is Halal so it caters to a lot of people. We came in and ordered and didn't have to wait long. The inside is nice. They have plenty of tables and seating and various images on the wall that make it look nice. Highly recommend a smash burger plus the chicken tender meal. The chicken tenders were so big and juicy. They were definitely worth the money!

I visited smash and shake the day they opened so I'm a little delayed with my review. The burgers were a bit delayed which was understandable for the amount of people ordering. I got the OK style burger with onions and my friends got the single and double. We all can agree they were way too greasy for something to eat on the regular but good burgers overall. The cookies and cream milkshake was pretty thick and consistent. I didn't really care for the banana pudding cup but I'm not a fan in general so to each their own! I think the space is cute. There's a little grass wall and a few tables. They also offer frappes and those viral fruit desserts if that's your thing.

I have only got take out from this place but I would say the food is pretty good ice cream and desserts are great , the burgers were good but the buns were way to big for the burgers I would say. I think tho the service has been very slow , we went two times first time we ordered two ice creams which shouldn't take to long and it took over 15 mins. The second time we came a while later maybe a few months, we went for one ice cream sundae and it took over 20 mins. I believe they had one lady making ice cream desserts but I don't think ice cream esp soft serve should take that long to make. Ice cream is good, but we tried a mango sundae and the mangos were not fresh they were like canned mangos I believe and didn't enjoy it but the ice cream we got previously ( banana pudding sundae and float was good).

I wanted to wait to come here to eat so I can get the full experience and not a rush. I got the mushroom Swiss single patty burger with their signature sauce and pickles. The burger was mid, it's smashed so it was kind of dry. I had to get ketchup on the side to dip it in there for some extra sauce. I don't need the extra calories so I didn't like that. I tried their crinkle fries, it was basic and good. Nothing special where I would come because I'm craving their fries. Its local burger spot, the price wasn't expensive. I would come back again if I'm craving it but it's not my top burger place

Double smash burger & 3 chicken tenders with fries

Very casual, basic seating inside. Portions are humongous! Service was quick and the food arrived piping hot. We liked the smash burger best -- very tasty! The chicken tenders were huge. Two of us split a double burger, 3 chicken tenders and fries. Plenty of food. The Tajin sundae was my fave part of the meal. Pineapple soft serve was the base, with chamoy and tajin. YUM. But near the bottom, the sauces were pretty concentrated, so I might ask for a little less sauce next time. But it was still delish!

Well First time and I wasn't really impressed.. I ordered a single classic W/fries Combo and it was dry and the burger got lost in the big bun. The place is nicely decorated and busy. Needs better lighting because it looks closed from the outside

Can't go wrong with a smash burger, or crispy chicken tenders for lunchtime from Smash & Shake. I took mine Togo because the wait was longer for the lunch rush. Solid clean location, pretty quick service and I like their retro style storefront.

The one pound burger. A sight to behold. 3 minutes down the hatch - let's make it a challenge. Anyway, very good burger. Obviously a smash patty, which I love. The cheese makes it taste "classic" if that makes sense. Very good pricing on most of the items. (11.99) for the one pounder I believe. Fries were pretty average. Spoke with some of the locals in the area and they seemed cool! It was busy and the cashier was hustling but still having a positive attitude.

Great smash burgers and Nashville Hot chicken slider! Krinkle-cut fries ( our favorite). Desserts looked great. We'll be back!

I've had smash burgers everywhere... nothing hits like Smash and Shake. Worth a 50 min drive from New Haven every time.

I went in before the Fourth of July to get six bags of ice. Thats what fits in my cooler. I took the first four bags out to the truck, came back in and grabbed two more and took them to the counter. I tell this guy I have six bags. This is how I have done it for like 40 years! Sam will ring them up and I will leave. But on this occasion, this OTHER GUY 'FRANK' behind the counter says to me, " No, you took five out to the truck, I COUNTED THEM." I told him he was full of shit, and FRANK GOT OFFENDED. I Guess calling the guy who just called you an ICE THIEF "full of shit" was offensive to this guy. I told him to come outside and he could COUNT the bags of ice. He refused, got miffed and told me to just take the ice and wouldnt accept my money. I left the two bags on the counter, went out to the truck and brought the other four bags in and told him he should take some MATH LESSONS before accusing customers of CHEAP THIEVERY. This guy is a stain to the business, I've heard others complain about him, a damn shame. Did I mention they have the best corn in the state? Just avoid that creep that works there on occasion.

The shop has such a fun, vibrant vibe. Between the colorful graffiti artwork, décor, and playful atmosphere, the atmosphere instantly puts you in a good mood. We tried their award-winning Gram Jam, and I completely understand why it's one of their signature flavors. It was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. I also tried a plain vanilla ice cream topped with Lucky Charms. There were lots of toppings to choose, from crushed Oreos, cookie dough, brownie bites, Reese's Pieces, sprinkles, hot fudge, caramel, whipped cream, fresh fruit, and cherries...making it fun to customize whatever you're craving. The staff were friendly and the shop was clean. Between the creative flavors, quality ice cream, and unique atmosphere, I'd definitely recommend too.

Just a 0.6-mile walk, nbd, right? :D But on the way there I did get to see where the State Capitol was since I walked right by it. Yeah, there's a reason it's called "Capitol Street". I also didn't realize I would be walking into Frog Hollow, so that was cool, I guess. But the visit was worth the walk. The intent of coming here was so that my liver could oxidize the drinks I had earlier. Additionally, the ice cream did make me thankful the walk was longer than I had intended it to be even though I don't really know Hartford pretty much at all. I did have a sneaking suspicion I had had this before, so I looked back at my old reviews. Lo and behold, I DID have Capital Ice Cream before at the Hartford Taste Festival when I went last year and tried their Hartford Dough Down. In fact, it was one of the places I had remarked I most wanted to give an in-earnest visit to when I talked about it in that review. Because of this, I have now gone to a place in-person after first visiting their stand at a festival (I still need to do that for Sandra's Next Generation one fine day since I had their festival food the day before the historic flood of 2024). This time around I got to see a little of what the interior of the place looked like. You can find some interesting fact about Connecticut while you're there. I didn't get to take too many photos of that, but I at least got to snap myself some lore about Hartford. Apparently it's one of this nation's oldest cities, being founded in 1635. Cool stuff! I'd love to come back even if only for the lovely history. They have an outdoor area you can have your ice cream in, and an area where you can go downstairs to eat I believe. It's a bit cramped when trying to order, so something to keep in mind. Thankfully the service is great, quick and efficient. This time I nabbed myself a large key lime pie milkshake, and I HAD to go with The Force! I may not come from a galaxy far, far away, but I needed some Force goddammit! Originally I was going order the Charter Oak until I'd realized there was key lime pie ice cream and I couldn't say no to key lime pie. The Force is a chocolate ice cream with Oreo's mixed in and whipped cream on top as well as confectionery sugar. Overall, it's a definitely a great stop for ice cream lovers who want to do a CT Ice Cream Tour. I'll even go so far as to say it is a great ice cream to have when walking by the State Capitol. While I am more partial to having ice cream at harbors and sea shores (think having the ice cream on a dock while my feet dangle over the water), ice cream by a major government building is still a very beautiful thought. Of the two things I had, I would definitely say I preferred the milkshake over the sundae. I think on summer days key lime pie ice cream is more refreshing overall. But both things were very good. For hot days, this is an outstanding choice! If you're someone who loves to learn some new history, definitely come here. If you like having ice cream walking by a state capitol, this is definitely the place for you. This might not be my number-one place to have ice cream, but I definitely think this was a tasty treat that I'd be more than happy to visit again in Hartford.
