I've been visiting Tribos Peri Peri since it first opened and have also ordered takeout and DoorDash multiple times. One thing I've appreciated is seeing how much they've improved over time. In the beginning, the food quality and consistency weren't always where they needed to be, but they have made significant improvements and have become much more reliable. The peri peri chicken is flavorful, well-seasoned, and cooked well, and the sides are generally fresh and satisfying. Whether dining in or ordering takeout, my recent experiences have been consistently positive. The staff is friendly, and service is generally smooth. The only minor issue I've noticed is that they occasionally run out of certain menu items, especially during busy periods. However, that hasn't taken away from the overall experience. It's great to see a local business continue to improve and grow. Overall, Tribos Peri Peri offers good food, solid service, and a much stronger experience than when they first started. Well peri peri is a fiery little African Bird's-eye chili whose name literally means "hot pepper" in Bantu. Tribos Peri Peri in Avon is the regional chain's eighth location (and the only one in CT), with the other seven in MA, MD, and NJ. Their cuisine pays homage to that incendiary African Bird's-eye chili pepper in their Portugese, African, and Southeast Asian flavored chicken dishes. You can have your pick of wings, tenders, platters, and even a whole chicken with or without sides. Some of the sides and appetizers have a Mediterranean flair such as hummus, pita breads, couscous, falafel, etc. The non-chicken lovers can get other dishes with lamb, paneer cheese, falafel, etc. Now, when you order chicken you have to decide on your tolerance for a heat level. I ordered three freshly grilled tenders and needed to select one of their six spice levels for the sauce the tenders get bathed in. Level One is plain, Level Two is Lemon & Herb, Level Three is Mild, Level Four is Medium, Five is Hot, and Six dares you to be Very Hot. I went with Level Four Medium, and I gotta tell ya, my chicken tenders were very spicy. Oh... and the chicken itself? FANTASTIC - freshly grilled, large, moist and perfect. Soon after the tenders were delivered to my table, two more things appeared- a squeeze bottle of white and red sauce. The smiling server said if my chicken was too spicy I could cool it down with the white garlic sauce. But if they weren't spicy enough, I could increase the firepower with some peri peri sauce. Of course I had to try the peri peri sauce and lets just say I was very grateful I just tried an eye dropper's worth of it. Along with the chicken, I ordered an amazing side of grilled corn on the cob. So the food was great, but how about the service? My experience was fantastic. The gent who took my order was friendly, conversational, and helpful. And when he brought out those two sauces, he was playfully smiling when he talked about the heat level of that Peri Peri sauce. I had a brutally slow experience at Tribos, despite the fact that it wasn't even slightly busy in terms of people dining in and takeout traffic. From appearances, Tribos looks like a fast casual Peri Peri chicken version of a Chipotle type restaurant. When I ordered, there was 1 Customer in the restaurant. They only gave about 3 people food before I received my order. And from the time I ordered 3 Medium Peri Peri Wings for myself, and 6 tenders to go for my son, it took 35 minutes for me to get my food. The young woman who helped me was very nice, and acted professionally under the circumstances. But they did not prepare me for the fact that my order might take that long. I would have left right away if they had. I finally had to speak up and I was told that they only had one person cooking. Frankly, given the amount of output from the kitchen, that should have been enough to finish my food much earlier. The wings were reasonably good. The sauce was spicy but manageable. The inner texture was most and juicy. The outer texture had some char, and wasn't too chewy as grilled wings sometimes are. If my order had taken about 10 minutes, which would have been reasonable for food of this nature, I would return. New spot alert! I'm a fan of peri peri chicken and had it in Florida, so I was excited one opened up in the neighborhood. They are known for their flavorful flame grilled chicken. The food is Portuguese inspired and peri peri is a chili pepper from Africa. They have mild to extra hot! Everything is made from scratch. There are many items to choose from; chicken, wings, burgers, wraps, rice bowls, platters, and more. The interior was nice and clean and the employees were friendly. I had the $10.99 quarter chicken white meat, flavor was hot, with a side of $4.99 rice. They also have complimentary sauces (red and white). The chicken was so tender and the flavor was robust. I'm a spicy fan so the hot was perfect for me. My family also enjoyed their meals. I'm happy to have this establishment close by to me! read more

I love this place, so so much! I am a huge fan of spice and can truly appreciate a place where the "hot" level of spice can actually offer some heat! I really enjoy the extra hot sauce available when dining in, along with the cool garlic sauce to balance out and tame the heat. I love the seasoned rice and the peri fries, which have a fantastic flavor and crunch. I was in Avon working and decided to stop in on my lunch break after passing this place several times before without stopping. I walked in and was immediately impressed. The restaurant was exceptionally clean, well organized, and had a welcoming atmosphere. The service was outstanding--friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish. The peri-peri food was excellent. I ordered the half chicken dark and chose the hot spice level. It was extremely flavorful, tasty, and cooked just right. The peri-peri chicken was exceptional--every bit on par with Nando's. I also ordered a Caesar salad with chicken as the protein. You can choose the spice level for the chicken, and I went with medium on the salad. The salad was very fresh, and the peri-peri chicken was a very tasty addition to it. Another nice touch was that the cook came out and checked to see if my food had been prepared to my liking. That kind of care really stood out. One of the things that sets this place apart is that, although it offers carryout, it also has a comfortable dine-in area where you can enjoy your meal with real plates, silverware, and napkins instead of disposable items. My family and I had a great experience here. We are a group of 6 plus a baby and we had wonderful service. Great to see new and different halal restaurants opening up in CT. The staff were super friendly and nice, food came out fast and fresh. We ordered the family platter and wings and they were so good. The medium spice was perfect as it still had a kick to it but wasn't super spicy. The sides were really good, especially the rice and potato salad. Definitely try the garlic sauce too. Chicken was so flavorful and moist. Price is also very fair for the amount of food you get. Restaurant is clean and there is plenty of seating, plus high chairs. Walking in it was a nicely decorated restaurant. We were greeted right away and told to take our time as it was the first time there. And that's where the good experience ended. Asked a couple questions, made to fill that was an inconvenience. The food came out. Flavorless. Gross , dry, and definitely warmed up and not homemade like they claim. We had about 3-4 bites and walked out. The sauces were mayo based. And lacking flavor no matter how spicy it went and was said. Won't be back. We have been wanting to try this spot for so long and I'm so glad it opened in Connecticut! The place is very cute inside and a good amount of seating inside. The service was great and also fast, they were very attentive as well. The food was delicious, I got the half chicken dark meat with fries. So good. I have been going to this newly opened Peri Peri restaurant in Avon and have everything great to say about it. The food is authentic Peri Peri with spice levels up to Very Hot and you really feel the Scoville Heat units !! I ordered the Hot level and it was so delicious accompanied by fries and corn kernels with their exclusive sauce. The service is excellent with very friendly staff, feels like you are eating at someone's home instead of a restaurant. Family friendly with a lot of options for kids as well. Best thing is that all food is made fresh which enhances the experience. If you like to eat great food at a good price with family , go to this restaurant- you won't be disappointed. The chicken had rubbery wet skin and while the sauce was good, the portions were shockingly small for the price. The vegetables were clearly frozen and microwaved, they were a flavorless mush. The fact that one small meal with terrible quality food cost almost $30 is pretty abhorrent. read more

Just went there with the family yesterday! Me and my wife got the family platter! Dad got the 1/4 chicken. Food was delicious, well cooked and seasoned. The platter came with two sides, we got rice and fries and they were both amazing! Service was also great the guy at the front desk was very welcoming and friendly.
