Lunch in the Bronx summons burgers. This is my first experience at Smashburger with a colleague/friend on a workday. Of course, I have heard of Smashburger brand name but did not patronize due to the inopportunity to travel and the time. All in all, burgers are not my favorite food. However, I have a strong predilection for Jackson Hole burgers for their intense juiciness and flavor when holding it in your hand for a bite - never dry. With an open mind, I entered without any preexisting judgment for burgers or any brand name, chain restaurants burgers image or quality but a focused lunch for enjoyment. We decided to dine in for our lunch away from the constant stream of work related interruptions calling my name for assistance and frivolous inquiries to fully enjoy our meal. It took nearly twenty minutes - too long for our food to arrive. This Smashburger location sits in Kingsbridge, Bronx in a small shopping complex adjacent to businesses AT&T, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Dunkin', Buffalo Wild Wings, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Baskin-Robbins. There is also a small parking lot for these businesses. It is very accessible via MTA NYC Transit 1 local train at 238th Street subway station. I did received my sales receipt. At the bottom of the sales receipt contains the bathroom access code. This bathroom code is time sensitive and changes days later. Double Classic Smash $9.99 (2 orders) Two certified Angus beef, with American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, pickles, ketchup, butter toasted bun. The bun was nice and fluffy, but it was not buttery in taste. I have a strong predilection for brioche bread. There were no "Smash sauce" included as I had to add a lot of ketchup for flavor to taste, but the red onions and pickles were good. The lettuce was fresh and a generous large portion covering the entire burger. The beef was average although certainly above average than the standard McDonald's proceeded meat. My colleague/friend ordered the Scorchin' hot fries $4.09 which she enjoyed along with melted cheddar cheese sauce cup $4.99. I do not consume spicy hot food in any format. Surely, spicy hot foods are not my cup of tea. Fountain drink $3.29 Refillable and self-serve 20 oz. At first I selected the unsweetened black ice tea which is really unsweetened and utterly bland. I prefer hot teas that are unsweetened. The Dragon fruit was refreshing delight that it was completely sold out. We both have a big fat compliant for their beverages: why no ginger ale soda? Why are there two variations of Coke Cola (diet Coke and Zero Coke)? Ginger ale is the only type of soda that I consume which entice my interest. I have no preference for brand name ginger ale, but this is utter blatant discrimination for omission and exclusivity against ginger ale soda. Milk shakes do not entice my drink interest. read more

We ordered catering from them and despite the food getting there hours before we put it out. The burgers, tots and cookies were still super fresh and delicious. Maybe not as hot as getting them fresh at the store but still a good and delicious meal. I had the regular smash burger with tots and a cookie. I have been coming to this Smashburger location with my family for years, but after my most recent experience, I will not be returning. I ordered five crispy chicken sandwiches along with smash fries and a drink. When I got home and took a bite, the chicken tasted slimy. Upon checking, I saw the meat was pink and clearly undercooked. I inspected the rest of the sandwiches and found that one more was also raw, while the others appeared to be cooked. I immediately called the store and spoke with a manager, who asked me to bring the food back. When I returned, I requested a refund but was told I could not get my money back. The manager offered no explanation or apology, just a suggestion to remake the sandwiches, which I declined. When I mentioned I would be contacting the Department of Health, the manager responded with a slick comment and even provided the phone number. It was also concerning to see very young employees in the kitchen who seemed improperly trained, likely a factor in this serious food safety issue. I did contact the health department, but all they did was ask for details and said they would follow up with the location. This location used to be great, but now it has completely fallen off. Serving raw chicken is unacceptable and dangerous. Stay away. read more

I really couldn't recommend this place any more! the staff is always really nice and don't look miserable to be there they always have a smile on their faces and are just really kind. The burgers are absolutely amazing, they're crispy, tasty and taste like no other. the buns are a great attention to deal which we greatly appreciate. The food is always freshly made and we really love the Strawberry Dragonfruit juice. The overall atmosphere is also really nice it's more of a modern place and vibe but done tastefully and with the table service it just makes for a great experience. we love the way it's managed and we hope it keeps going in the direction it's going! read more

I've always been a huge fan of Smashburger. This location is nice and spacious, and is also a great addition to the neighborhood. The customer service was great and the food was even better! I got a refund back, but that was not the first time they've given me undercooked food. I come here at least once a month, more like 2-3 times a month though. The burgers are juicy and flavorful. Service is a bit slow, but the burgers are always good. Recently I've opted to get grilled chicken instead of burger and it's been amazing. You can choose grilled or crispy chicken for any of the burger options. Crispy chicken is a bit dry, but if that's your jam you might like it. The kid in me loves tots so I always get smash tots, and always end of stealing fries from someone else because they're crunchy, salty, golden, skinny, fried to perfection. Food from here is always good. Delivery is hit or miss. My last experience with yelp and smash burger ended up in a no show. After calling the store and yelp I learned an hour later that smash and yelp aren't partnering. Appalling that that information wasn't available before I ordered and waited. I'll continue eating from smash burger but won't continue using yelp, at least not while other delivery services are more responsible. Although I will say, the store should be knowledgeable enough to know which delivery services available and useful. I travel for a living, I am literally on the road, constantly. Since I get to see so much of the u.s. and Canada, it's always a treat to get to experience restaurants that are not available in my home area of Michigan. One such place is Smashburger. Now, North America has plenty of hamburger restaurants, but Smashburger is a bit different. They remind me a bit of Steak and Shake, if you're familiar with them. Both places offer hamburgers that are thinly smashed, as well as fries and Shakes and soda. However, the Steak and Shake franchise appears to be failing, as many of the restaurants have closed. Smashburger, on the other hand, appears to be weathering the current pandemic storm well. The restaurants are open, they are clean, and on the times that I have visited them they are busy. The CDC guidelines are being adhered to, and the food is fresh and hot and every bit as good as you expect. If you're in the mood for a really good hamburger, as well as the other side offerings that accompany it, you really can't go wrong with visiting a Smashburger franchise. read more

You know I had to have the spicy jalapeño burger with avocado. That's my regular go to burger when ever I go to smash and I love it. I'm going try it in a double patty next time. I came in this evening to pick up some burgers and tots and the attitudes and cursing amongst the workers is not only unprofessional but quite disgusting when ordering food. I came here for a quick lunch with beau after we ran Sunday errands. The cashier was really nice and patient while I decided what I wanted to order. There was no line when we walked in so we ordered our food, we located a seat and waited for someone to bring us our food. My beau ordered the Pub Triple Double Burger with Regular sized Fries - we received a handful of french fries which was more like a child's sized portion. The Pub Triple Double Burger was $4 and it is here for a limited time only so try it before it is gone. I ordered the Spinach and Goat Grilled Chicken Sandwich it was delicious and it gave me Mediterranean vibes which I enjoyed. Second time this week that I've received sub par service. The staff appear to be poorly trained, and lack the customer service skills to efficiently perform to a high standard at such a fast paced establishment, that isn't exactly McDonalds. This time after waiting in line for 20 minutes even though I had called my order ahead; it seemed to be taking the cashier 10 minutes per customer just to ring in an order. First he couldn't locate my order, telling me it was never rang in; I asked him to speak to the female staff member standing around as I believe it was she that took my order over the phone. Alas, he located it, apparently there isn't much communication between staff members and everyone isn't caught up to speed on the goings on. Time is valuable to me, the time to get there, collect my order and return home was a total of 30 minutes. 30 minutes that I didn't have in my busy schedule. I get home, take a bite of the burger, and it's BEEF! I have not eaten meat in 12 years, and think it's unacceptable to give meat to a vegetarian. I get it mistakes happen, but this is a place where mistakes happen almost too regularly. I called to speak to the manager Derek, who initially told me he would give me a refund as well as replace my burger. As soon as I got off the phone, I began to vomit, so I called the restaurant again to inform them of this. This time I spoke to a woman who said she was the General Manager (a little too proudly might I add) and asked why I was calling again. I told her to inform her of my throwing up, and to perhaps use this as a opportunity to implement better training protocols for staff members. She responds "But it's your fault for eating it". At this point I realized I wasn't going to get my point across to someone like this and told her that I would be in for my refund and replacement tomorrow. She said "No! You can have one or the other but it has to be today". Again she continued to add "We didn't force you to eat it". Now I understand why the staff appear perform badly when the manager is unable to comprehend a logical problem, and instead makes decisions from emotions. She said she wasn't going to refund me. Avoid this place at all costs, I'm sure you may get better service from McDonalds. You would think for the higher price, the service could at least be competent. read more

Despite that there is no sign whatsoever stating no pets allowed in the Smashburger located in Riverdale Crossing Shopping Center at 193 W 237th St, Bronx, NY, 10463. In that same shopping center there is a Petco. I went to get my dog chew bites and wanted to stop by for something to eat. As soon as I walked in with my 10 months Labrador puppy the lady at the counter Emily (that's what's on my receipt) asked if she was a Service Dog. I said no and she asked me to stand outside and offered to take my order outside. Since I have been at this location before and I used to be a regular I knew exactly what I wanted the BLACK BEAN BACON AVOCADO CLUB (no bacon) I asked if I could order and pay and stand outside. She said she would bring the order outside to me. I reiterated that a "No Pets Allowed" is usually visible in most places that are not pet friendly. She never brought my food and although there was no line when I ordered, I waited over 12 minutes outside and I had to ask a passerby to hold my dog while I went in and asked about my food. When I went and asked another associate about my order; the food was sitting in the counter and I made the mistake of trusting Emily that she had gotten the order right. My order was nothing like what I ordered. The description on the menu is BACON AVOCADO CLUB With lettuce, tomato, ranch dressing & mayo on a multi-grain bun the only thing I changed was *NO BACON* I got a sloppy bun certainly not Multi Grain. No lettuce, no Ranch, no Tomato, no avocado, only the Black Bean Patty was there (almost burned)and all of a sudden I found mushrooms. This hamburger doesn't even bring mushroom, what if I was allergic? This burger looked like a burger from the McDonalds dollar menu. I will not come back to this place and I encourage corporate to be mindful when they hire staff. A good customer service is critical in a restaurant, also if puppies are not allowed at your restaurant is imperative that you put a visible sign. read more
