I had a really disappointing experience at this burger place. Two customers were actually asked to leave simply because their 4-month-old baby cried for a few minutes. Babies cry -- that's normal -- and the parents were clearly trying to calm the child down. Instead of showing a little understanding, the staff decided the best solution was to kick them out. It was honestly uncomfortable to watch. A restaurant should be welcoming, especially to families. No one expects a baby to stay silent the entire time, and a few minutes of crying shouldn't result in customers being treated like they did something wrong. Situations like this say a lot about how a business treats people. Instead of patience or compassion, they chose embarrassment and exclusion. Definitely not the kind of place I'd recommend if you're looking for a friendly, family-friendly environment. read more

BBH keeps surprising us! We attended a Santa brunch a tthe restaurant last Sunday. They posted signs up about the event but I learned about it on Instagram. I immediately contacted the restaurant and bought my kid a spot. The event was 10A-12P which was perfect since they regularly open at noon. They were packed so once the event was over, there was plenty of space for regular diners to come in and enjoy the normally scheduled brunch. The kids all received a gift bag, breakfast and a picture with Santa. We listened to holiday music and played games for prizes. The day before they held a Candy Cane Lane event that involved the entire neighborhood of businesses for the kids to visit for treats and toys, face-painting and entertainment. My Little had a great time, as did we. We had brunch, ourselves, while she enjoyed the festivities. BBH continues to play an integral part in the community. They do so much to keep the neighborhood involved, holding toy drives for needy children during this holiday. It's no wonder that they were recently awarded the NYS 2022 Empire Award for community service, presented by Senator Biaggi. Definitely stop by and show some love to this small business! read more

Since I took off from work this week but had to cancel my travel plans due to the pandemic, I thought I would take this time to relax and check out some local businesses I had been meaning to try. Bronx Burger House has been sitting in my bookmarks for a long time, so I figured now was as good a time as ever to check it out. I was in a burger mood so I headed over to Riverdale to check it out. In what's the new normal now, I checked on their website before heading out to make sure they were open, offered online ordering, etc. I saw that they had an option for online ordering so I entered my order along with a pickup time (per the website you pay when you get to the restaurant). When I arrived, however, it was explained that their online ordering system was non-functional with their vendor pulling out at the beginning of the pandemic. Hence, they never received my order, so I had to give it again. It wasn't really a big deal because I only had to wait about 20 minutes extra for my order and it was nice and fresh, but still if that's the case they reallllly need to remove that feature from their website. I got an email confirmation and everything so they're setting themselves up for complaints. Anyway, the menu is mostly made up of pub food with (you guessed it) burgers being the main star. There are many specialty-type burgers to choose from as well as a number of salads and sandwiches. Additionally, they have a nice variety of apps, entrees, hot dogs, milk shakes, and desserts. I wanted a burger - and the Old English stood out to me. In addition to the beef patty, it contained Applewood smoked bacon and cheddar cheese on an English Muffin. The burger was substantial - really filling and the English Muffin was a refreshing change to the typical bun. The fries that came with it were great - I've come to expect mediocre fries from establishments but these had the perfect amount of crisp. I also got an order of nachos to share and they were also pretty good. The meat and cheese were melted on top of the chips and the other toppings (sour cream, pico de gallo, guac) were neatly placed in containers to add when we were ready to eat. Even with the slight hiccup in service, the manager was apologetic and got the food out as quickly as possible. Overall, I had a great first experience at Bronx Burger House. My burger tasted great, and their service really left a good impression. If you're looking for a solid burger spot I would totally recommend BBH; I'm looking forward to returning and exploring more of their menu. read more

The ambiance here was EVERYTHING. We drove here all the way from Queens because my husband raves about this place and I guess I can see why. It's a very low key spot seems like a lot of locals dine here. Service was extremely friendly and burgers were decent in their defense I need to try their burger when I'm not pregnant and can't have it medium I end up getting everything well done. Want to note that they host karaoke nights seems like weekly and there is this little girl who is literally the next Alicia Keys. So it's been years since the previous review, we never returned. But a friend was in the neighborhood and I decided to give it a go! I'm unsure of new management or the circumstances for why my experience has changed so drastically but we really had a great dinner. The food and service were amazing and everyone was so kind. I got a burger on an English muffin and my friend (dedicatedly) raved over the quesadilla. We loved our server and we were comfortable and taken care of. I've always gone by the burger house but never went in before. However, I decided to order for delivery today since I recognized the name. I like to support local but it's difficult when you pay local prices to get poor quality food. To be brief, the fries are dollar store quality and the burger was flavorless. It was also burnt on the outside and overcooked so it had that unpleasant blackened crunch in the meat. One side of the burger was cooked well though so that was interesting. Overall, for my first time ordering food from here I made the hasty decision that it will be my last. I hope that they improve. We understand that times are hard with the pandemic so restaurants cut back but times are hard for EVERYONE. When people order food for dinner they expect quality for what they've paid. Near Riverdale close to the border of Yonkers, basically all street parking. The sever was a nice girl but the place was definitely under-staffed. The poor girl was doing interviews and waiting tables all by herself. The burger was good but it definitely didn't impress me. I had the burger in between two grilled cheeses. The grilled cheeses weren't buttered enough and were dry going down. To be fair, I will try a conventional burger if I come back. The patty itself was juicy and flavorful. The tap list is extensive and the beers are cold. I would come back the give this place another shot, but they definitely need to fix the staffing situation. Went here for an early dinner around 4:30 PM. The space was clean and the followed all covid protocols. It was frustrating that there was only one waiter for the entire place. You had to wait for menus, silverware, napkins and I wish it was just ready. The server was great but he just couldn't effectively serve the entire place by himself. Again I've decided to try places that's been on my list to try while being quarantined. I decided to order the turkey burger and sweet potato fries. According to their online menu the burger comes with lettuce and tomato and for cheese it's $1 more. I asked for swiss cheese with my burger. When I got home with my order there were sweet potato and regular fries - even though I didn't order regular fries nor did the menu state fries were included. There was no lettuce and tomato on my burger and I have to say I was a little disappointed. The upside is that the turkey burger was thick, well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The sweet potato fries were good too. I would definitely like to try them again and look forward to when I can actually sit in the restaurant with my meal. Will update when I do. read more

Great neighborhood bar and grill.This is a staple of Riverdale.I am very proud to be a frequent patron of this establishment. The manager,Laura is fantastic.She is not only a great manager but she is a great human being. She is always happy, very cordial to the customers,funny and hard working. I like that fact that she does a lot for the community as evidenced by her tireless commitment to caring for the needy whether they are the homeless,Women in Domestic violence shelters,Veterans,individuals with mental health challenges among others.The food is great. You can get any type of burger you want.There is always some event going on whether it is Bingo night, Karaoke night or whatever.(By the way she sings too)I only wish that it would stay open a little longer than 10 pm but most businesses in this neighborhood close around this time. This past weekend, I had the most frustrating experience with Uber Eats and Door Dash. They both left me hanging without delivering my food and I felt like no one cared to help, except for the manager (Laura) at Bronx Burger House. Before I left work on Friday I ordered dinner from a burger place downtown and not only did Uber Eats not show up but they had the nerve to add on another charge! Thank goodness I used PayPal so I'll get that disputed and refunded. I was exhausted after a long day, it was cold outside and I didn't feel like cooking. I was still really in the mood for a burger so, I decided to use Door Dash to bring me something from BBH (which is maybe 5 minutes from my house) at about 7pm. At a little after 8pm, my food hadn't come yet so I called BBH and was told the driver left about 10 minutes ago with my order. Assuming he'd ring my bell any second, I hung up and waited... for another 20 minutes. I couldn't believe this was happening to me again. I called PayPal but couldn't get anyone in customer service as it was now after 9pm. Feeling helpless and starved I called and spoke to Laura, hoping she'd be willing to back my explanation to PayPal about my missing order when I put in the next day for a dispute/refund. Laura was so kind and compassionate. She totally understood how awful these delivery apps can be and told me how sorry she was that they didn't show up with my food. Then she asked me to remind her of what I ordered again, she had me hang on while she spoke to someone in the background, then came back to the phone and told me she'd have one of her staff send me my order anyway... no charge! I could've cried. I just was blown away by how sweet she was, she even threw in a cocktail. The food was great as always. When you just want a good burger and some tasty comfort food, Bronx Burger House is the move. Laura is good people, her staff is friendly and they know what they're doing in that kitchen. I ordered the Bleu Burger which was tasty (including the bun, but unfortunately halfway through started to fall apart a bit), and the fries were tasty, as well. The thing that felt very NYC (ehhhh) was the $3.50 for a some glass of Diet Coke. Whaaa? Dang the need to have a refreshing carbonated beverage along w/the burger (and I typically always just get a water...). But yowzahs, that may have been one of the higher charges for a soda I've seen as of late. The aptly named Burger House, is obviously known for their burgers plus the usual bar fare. I kept things simple and ordered the Spencer $11.95, which includes bacon, american cheese, lettuce and tomato. The burger was made to temp and served on a seedless brioche looking bun; don't think it was brioche though. The burger itself was juicy and very satisfying. The accompanied french fries were natural cut, my preference are usually steak fries, but these worked well with the burger. On this particular midweek winter afternoon, I sat at the bar, as the restaurant was empty and allowed me the opportunity to have great conversations with the bartender Tex and the supporting friendly staff, Maddie and Marie. Flat screens line the walls of the bar to catch the day's news and sporting events. The dining area is a fair size with no separation between the bar and dining room. I can only imagine if seated at a table close to the bar it could present a feeling that people are standing or sitting right on top of you. This nicely decorated sports bar, restaurant located in the quaint neighborhood of Riverdale offers metered street parking directly out front, though residential parking can easily be found on the side streets. "Burgers!" the people did decide while barreling down Riverside. And as the name does imply Bronx Burger House is where they pulled aside. Familiar feel of hometown bar was nice, as they had travelled far. Atmosphere, food, and staff on par with how these places usually are. Burger selection was quite extensive. Although pricey, not expensive. Half hour later, the diners were pensive "Will we ever eat?" ..they were apprehensive. Their stomachs began to eat their lungs when out from the kitchen three burgers sprung!! Juicy, flavorful meat between buns blue cheese tangy on their tongues.
