Ordered a small Colorado burger and the bacon cheeseburger with lettuce and tomatoes with one regular fries and one truffle. All were great! This place keeps getting worse and worse... clearly it's because of the management. I have already written off their food for the most part except for the sweet potato fries, which is why I stopped by today. Their General Manager was working at the register and made me wait while he was finishing his busy work. I told him what I wanted and his reply was "What is your name?" After that he then asked what I wanted. He was rude and dismissive. In the 2.5 minutes while waiting for my fries, he told a customer he was wrong about his order when he questioned it, then while he was at the kitchen counter, two teenagers walked up and the lady scooping ice cream looked at him to get his attention and pretty much said "they can wait." This place is over-rated. The burgers are a little too greasy and salty and they look really weird. The fries with rosemary are WAY too greasy. The onion strings are ok but also very greasy and too large a portion for one person or you will feel sick by the time you finish. Stick with the plain fries which are fresh and crispy. I like the options of choosing the bread and toppings and I like that everything is so fresh. I have only ordered burgers here so I can't comment on the other options. read more

I was in serious need of a burger and soda yesterday after a long night out Friday at the bars! My friends suggested this place and I thought it's about time I check it out since I've lived 5 minutes away for a year and I've never been. Service was friendly and super fast, the menu took a little while to peruse but once I knew what I wanted I had my food in front of me in about 5 minutes. This would have to be one of the cheaper, yet still over-priced burger places in Denver. I had the mushroom swiss burger which was pretty decent. Then again, unless your establishment is serving grade F meat product with pre-made grill marks, you really have to try hard to screw up a burger. For another $2, I ordered some Smashfries since the description on the menu made them sound so lovely. They were nothing short of meh. On the whole, I love Smashburger. Their burgers are super tasty, as are their fries, and I love the fact that you can get a beer with it all. Unfortunately, this location specifically disappointed. I came here to get some food to go on a Saturday during lunch time. I got inside to find a super long line...because they had one cashier. ONE cashier during the lunch rush. I felt bad for the guy, as he was clearly rushed. They also had ONE person running food out, which meant a lot of people's burgers sat under the heat lamps while they scrambled to get stuff out. They were clearly very, very understaffed for a Saturday lunch and the poor folks working were trying their hardest but were definitely stressed. The burger also tasted off, and almost made me "sick" at once. The fries were ice cold. I'm not sure if that also had to do with being understaffed, and them sitting for a while, but it was not very good. It's a shame because like I said, I love Smashburger all together. For fast food this place is great. My birger had a lot of flavor and was cooked well. It had bacon on it and it wasn't that fake thin stuff you get at most fast food place. It was thick and crispy. And it had avocado so it can't get much better then that. I'm not the biggest fan of shoestring fries but they were pretty good (getting them seasoned is a must). The price was totally fair a bit more expensive then the run of the mill fast food but 100% worth the slight increase. The staff was super friendly as well. It's really close to where I work so it might be deadly for me as I will be coming back more then once. read more

I love this Smashburger. The place is clean, the staff is efficient and Tony, the manager, keeps them that way. He's also incredibly friendly. I always order online and every burger I order includes changes from the standard menu item. They have never gotten it wrong. Smashburger uses a somewhat smaller bun than you would normally see for the size of the burger, but to my mind that accentuates the flavor of everything that goes in the middle. Best fast food burger in Denver. Oh and the sides. How many other burger places offer fried pickles and crispy Brussels sprouts? And though I'm not a salad guy I have been told their salads are really good, too. Oh, and for those whose reviews claim that Smashburger is a little pricy: join their Smashclub. They offer so many deals and specials that you'll rarely pay full price. read more

I will go on to say after many visits to this location the food has always satisfied my appetite, and left me wanting more. The last time in particular, I ordered the buffalo and blue cheese large burger. It really reminds you of a buffalo wing combined with some fresh grilled angus beef. For a side item I choose the sweet potato smash fries, which are tossed in herbs and oil. In addition, I ordered the peanut butter milk shake. Which is rich and creamy. In the past I have ordered the chocolate milkshake, and it was delicious, as well. All in all it smash burger always provides a great meal, for an affordable price. Such a poor experience I will never be back to this location. Absolutely some of the worst employees I have ever witnessed. Every single employee in there was a bumbling idiot. First off I did an online order. Which wasn't finished when I got there but whatever I can wait, even though there was like 5 people total in the place. Anyway I skipped the line and waited patiently by the pickup area when I arrived. Already your employee couldn't figure out to complete this gentleman's order because he was locked into another computer or some other nonsense. Well after a good solid five minutes they finally got the manager. Ok after another few mins he finally figures it out. Well here comes the next lady, and let me tell you she didn't look happy. All I know is your MANAGER is so dim that when the lady found enough change to give an even $16 back, the kid blankly looked at her and said I can't do that and I have to restart the void out this payment and do it again. She looked dumbfounded and had to calmly explain that no matter what it will even out in your system. Like wow that's who you hire to MANAGE your restaurant? Ok so now it comes to me whoo I finally get to eat! NOPE. Your cook in the back says my card is declined...which I'm not sure how that's possible considering I had the receipt and all... Not to mention I didn't bring the card with me, because I've never in my life had problems with any other location! I've never been through an online service that lets a card go if there was an error. Oh and I'm definitely not making a thirty min drive there and back to pay for it ALL AGAIN. Just another greezZy burger joint..... The best item here is the Onion Rings. They are delicious and remind me of my favorite, which are located in Franklin, LA at a Fried Chicken Stand. I will never be returning to this location as long as I live. I ate here a while back and the kid gave me the wrong change and argued with me for five minutes about what I gave her. She was very rude and seemed like a younger teenage (15 year old) kid that should be in school not working at a professional business. I was very disappointed with how this was handled, I was at least hoping to get hot food after dealing with this kid but my food was cold as well as my fries. After telling her my food was cold she said oh well. You know you've had a bad day at a restaurant when your beer is hotter than your food and they won't do anything about it. We went to the location in Centennial which is fairly new. We took our order and sat down. I was in awe when our burgers came they were big and juicy just like they were intended to be. The fries were OK but all i care about is the burger. My Dad and I decided that Smash is second on the burger list, second to in-and -out (duh). Well, I'd be tempted to say this is my favorite burger joint, but there tends to be some inconsistency here. I love the Colorado burger with a fried egg added. Sometimes, it's perfect, but there have been other times where it's just too greasy. The last time we ate here, the bun was soaking up all the grease, to the point it was almost soggy. But that's really my only complaint. The CO burger is unlike any burger I've had because the green chilies are actual peppers that are grilled. There no sauce here, no pork, non of that. Just crunchy, delicious green chilies. The burger is topped off with cheddar and pepper jack cheeses, mayo and the basics on a chipolte bun. It's a mess, but that means it's good. I also like the baja burger, which is a bit more spicy than the CO burger. The baja has fresh jalapenos, guac, and pepper jack. It does have a kick. The sweet potato fries are good, as well as the smashfries, which are seasoned with rosemary, garlic, and olive oil. The fried pickles are my favorite, but the tend to be pretty salty. My husband always goes with bbq, bacon and cheese burger. The smaller size burger is perfect for me, but he prefers the larger. The place is typically nice and clean, the service is fast, and the staff is friendly. The patio is nice out front, but avoid that west setting sun, it gets hot and really bright. read more

After a Sunday lacrosse game, my husband and I were really craving a burger but didn't want to get sucked into a long dining experience. We decided to give Smash Burger another try (we had gone once before and were not over impressed). This time we became fans. The burgers and fries were good and the service was pretty quick. It is by no means the best burger in Denver, but it definitely beats fast food and was a nice fast casual experience. So, I realize one bad experience probably should not be a deciding factor, but for me the food here is not good enough to make up for it. My husband and I went into Smash Burger a few months ago and ordered two burgers with fries. The cashier handed me my receipt, and only one of the burgers had fries. I handed it back to her and (politely) told her that I had asked for fries with both. A side of fries is $1.99 (or something like that) with a burger, so I gave her $2. She said, no, I would have to pay $4 for a separate side of fries. Irrationality drives me nuts, even when it's only about a few dollars, so I got into a semi-argument with her. I didn't understand why I should have to pay $2 extra just because she typed in the order wrong (she admitted that she did hear me, but she 'hit the wrong button'). She said I had to pay $4 because there's no code to punch in for the $2 fries. The manager came over, and told me the same thing. I had to pay $4 (really, I gave up). Blah. Old School Burger or Fat Burger are just as good. I'll be going there. read more

Soon after I moved to Denver, I was craving a burger. A good burger but not traditional fast food and not a sit down restaurant. An internet search lead me to Smashburger and I have been eating there regularly ever since. I love the slight crispy-ness of the beef patty while still managing to be moist inside. The BBQ, Bacon, and Cheese is my favorite burger because when you smash (get it, SMASHburger?) the bun together a little BBQ sauce and juicy deliciousness seeps out. It pleases me. Big bummer! This place is close so I really wanted to like it. I stopped by at 8pm, two hours before they close, so I know this wasn't just a timing fluke. My black bean burger was literally cold. Like actually cold! For a burger place they could at least warm it up. I get that people don't order that one as much, but come on. You make burgers, please make it decent if I'm spending over 10 bucks. (They charge $2 extra for the black bean burger. Not sure why, the ingredients are much cheaper.) And just as bad was my soggy haystack onions. Literally not a crispy one in the bunch, they obviously just served me the ones left over from the dinner rush. You'd think with an expanded menu, it would be better. You'd think. I was jazzed to order the Colorado burger with "Grilled" chiles. And yes the quotation around grilled are necessary. Why? They were basically raw, probably tossed on the grill for 30 seconds to get a greasy coating. The burger looked so unappetizing that I didn't even want to eat it or the Sweet Potato smash fries that were new to the menu since the last time I had been there. If the meal had been only $4 or $5 I would have just let it go. However at $10.99, I ended up bringing the meal, untouched up to the counter and spoke with the menu. She offered to refund me and get my order right, but I just took the refund as my appetite was gone. However, her wonderful service is why they get 2 stars instead of 1. After reading the awful reviews of Smashburger here, I just had to write! I don't understand the negative comments unless it's the difference in locations. I always eat at the one in Applewood off Youngfield and have not once been disappointed. It is definitely my favorite burger place in Denver and beats both City Grille and Cherry Cricket IMHO. The service is always super fast; in fact, I have never waited over five minutes for my meal and the burgers are always fresh, juicy and dripping, which for me is the sign of a good burger. And, I love both the Smashfries - crispy fries in olive oil and rosemary and the Veggie Frites - crisp fried asparagus, carrot and green beans. Before you give up on SB, try the Applewood location. Oh yeah, and the service is always friendly too!! read more
