This was my 2nd time at Smashburger. My build your own black bean burger was so delicious the 1st visit, I thought i'd try it again. I ordered a build your own black bean burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mushroom, pepper jack cheese, bacon, avocado, and ranch dressing on a multi grain bun. I received a black bean burger on a multi grain bun, WITHOUT onion, pepper jack cheese, avocado and ranch dressing. I have a 30 minute lunch, so there isn't time to take it back and get one made correctly. Other that not getting what I ordered, the black bean burger did taste good. read more

I really like this location,the employees go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The food is always hot and fresh,smash burger is kinda pricey for burgers and fries,but it is one of the better burger joints. What we got was five burgers - completely mislabeled, three fries and a vanilla shake. I guess I have been living under a rock as I've never heard of this fast food restaurant. (I don't eat out often) I decided to eat here based on the aesthetics of the location and the proximity to Starbucks which I had just left and T-Mobile store which I needed to visit. I was not disappointed. The cashier was exceptionally helpful in explaining the menu as I needed to know what all the smash+word meant. I had the smash fries and a Smashburger double with bacon. The fries were incredible, seasoned perfectly and absolutely delicious while steaming hot. I think I have finally eaten a fast food French fry better than McDonald's. The burger was excellent but I do have some advice on the eating of the burger and ordering the burger. One, the meat patties come in two sizes. Trust me when I tell you the smaller sized patty is more than enough for the vast majority of people. Unless you are desperately hungry or a big fat person, get the regular sized patty. That being said, the regular sized patties are a decent size, if you get a double, it will be a fairly significant size so be aware of that. Next, I highly suggest you take your time and eat your fries before you eat the burger. They serve their burgers fresh right off the grill, that means they will be exceptionally hot and greasy. Irritatingly burned my hand and mouth (no damage) trying to eat that burger fresh of the grill. Let it cool for a few minutes before consuming. Now that I am done bitching I will say the burger was damn outstanding. It's like what all 'fancy' restaurant burgers strive to achieve and will charge you double for. I heard them describe the process of making their milkshakes and based on that I assume they are damn tasty. I am not one to drink cold treats until summertime so I will find out then. This place is an absolute must visit if you want affordable incredible tasting fast food. read more

I love that they have different buns, meats and toppings if you want to make your own burger. The burgers are good and the fries are thin and crunchy which are my favorite type of fries! It has a big sign so they are easy to find and the staff is very friendly! Definitely will be going back soon! read more

Smash burger is one of my favorite places to go. Their burgers are the best and they have great shakes. My favorite one is the Oreo shake. I always enjoy dining there. And don't forget to order the smash fries, they're delicious. read more

I have been wanting to try this place since it's opened. Unfortunately the line is always extremely long which is a good thing. I finally saw an opening, and got in. Went back today - in October and service was HORRIBLE. They got our food order wrong - the manager was maybe 18 and could care less. They had very little staff working and they were not very nice. We spent $20 for two chicken sandwiches, one small fry and one drink. that is SUPER high. Five Guys is a MUCH better deal. This place has really taken a dump since they opened. I was disappointed after eating here. The ingredients were fresh but covered in lard. I have never had such a greasy burger and bun saturated with butter. The smashfries had a good flavor with the rosemary and garlic, but they were full of oil and therefore a soggy mess. Even if it were cheaper I wouldn't eat here again. read more

I stopped in here while on a shift for work. I didn't have a chance to sit down and soak up the vintage/modern decor. Walking in the door, one immediately notices the style of this place looks like it was ripped from a Mad Men set. I love the appearance. Now for the real reason why you're going to this joint: the burgers. I'm not going to lie: these burgers make five guys look like a McDonald's. They are bigger and around the same price. I ordered the All-American Big Smash with a fried egg on it. It was just what I expected: a half pound of juicy, meaty goodness too big for its egg bun. The meat was a perfectly executed medium-well. After every bite, I found myself uttering some kind of praise for how delicious it was. I wanted to order the Smashfries, which are seasoned with garlic, but seeing as I was working, I decided to be nice and not. The regular fries, though, are that perfect balance of crispy and soft. They do salt them a bit heavily, but there is a bit of seasoning in the salt that makes it alright. My experience here was great, and the staff was very friendly. I know I will return. read more

I have to give it to them. Their burgers are tasty, and strangely go down too easily (not sure if thats good or bad). The prices seem high but are pretty average compared to the newer burger joints popping up. Burgers are a little greasy but well seasoned and grilled properly (i like the crispy edges). They have a decent amount of choices for toppings. The smash fries are crispy and good. And, don't forget to try one of their shakes. New flavors seem to pop up regularly. One of my favorites was the chai shake. This is one of those places where it's worth to join their club mailing list (Smash club). I've gotten a few good coupons as well as a coupon for a free new shake flavor every now and then. My only low point is the place seems a little sterile and cold ( atmosphere, not tempurature cold). It makes you not really want to hang around very long. Overall the food is worth it. Besides, I'm not there to look around anyway. read more

Like a Subway for burgers. You pick your sandwich toppings and buns, they put them together; all for less than the price of a Subway 12" roast beef. Goat cheese, sharp cheddar, spinach just to name a few of their different offerings than the normal "take what we make for you" joint. Meat was juicy and crisp on the edges from being smashed down on the griddle but----they need to wake the meat up with some seasoning. Why doesn't a good steak taste bland? The right amount of aging, salt and pepper. Make the burger meat taste like a steak then you've really got something here. The fair price and out of the ordinary toppings makes an occasional fan of me of this place. 4 Stars. read more

I've been to Smashburger two times now. My daughter liked her burger both times. I am not a huge fan of pan fried burgers (which I had the 1st time) so I choose not to review them based solely upon that visit because I think it has more to do with my own personal preference rather than the food itself. I returned again recently and tried a chicken sandwich. Again, I've had better. The chicken was overdone and the avocado wasn't ripe and came with some of the shell of the seed still on it. I'm also not sure that I like the set-up of the place. It's not very comfortable or relaxing in there. The sides are different and above average. I enjoyed the smash fries, onion straws and sweet potato fries. All and all I don't believe this place is worth a special trip or the extra $. read more

Went here with my girlfriend she had the chicken Caesar salad and I had the smashburger Windy City. It was good but I think Five Guys is better. This place is overrated and over priced. But the salad was huge and she really liked it. I think I'd go back there for a salad. read more

It was ok. The burger was very large (regular size too). However, the burger was very salty. The sweet potato fries were cold and a tad soggy. There are other options there that looked nice. So I am sure that I will go back. Just not for the burger and sweet potato fries. read more

Undercooked Meat!!! This was my first time trying Smash Burger and I ordered the Triple Double with sweet potato fries. The fries were perfect, but the meat on the burger was undercooked. Normally, I would not mind it since I like my beef medium rare, but this is ground meat and if there is bacteria in the meat, it gets mixed in the ground patty and the heat does not kill the bacteria inside the meat. Clearly, the meat was not cooked through, as shown in my picture. I am really hoping I will not get sick, since I ate some of it! read more

Even though this place is a little more on the expensive side, the fries are packed and filled with the best fries around, the shakes are handmade and taste very yummy, and the sandwiches (choice of burger or chicken, I picked chicken) are hot and fresh. First time here. Very rushed at the order counter. The guy was just plain rude. I got a black bean burger that tasted like crap. Fries very greasy. Kids got "milkshakes" that were watery and bland. I doubt they even contained real ice cream. Please.....don't bother. Waste of good money and time. I'm not sure how they stay open. read more

Had lunch here today with my sister-in-law and nephew. I've been eager to try it. Not one bit disappointed! It was high noon on a Saturday, and a big group of little league kids were dining, so the noise level was way out there. I can imagine that is not the usual there. Only in line less than 5 minutes. Ordered the Windy City burger and Smashfries, Diet Coke. Found a table and food was delivered in 5 or 6 minutes - faster than I thought. Burger, delicious! Served on a pretzel roll, brown mustard and cheddar cheese. The meat was so savory, so tender. Yes, it was greasy - it's beef for Pete's sake. Smashfries have light garlic, rosemary and olive oil drizzle. Prior review seemed surprised the fries were oily but it was clearly stated on the menu. I knew I wasn't coming here for a fruit salad, ya know? Great service at the order counter, nice delivery at the table, manager stopped to ask how we enjoyed it. Price, whatever. This isn't drive-up fast-food so expect to pay a couple bucks more. Even with that, the Smashfries are $1.79 and the Smash-size burger (there is a larger one) was $5.99. Worth every penny to me and felt satisfied, though I couldn't finish the fries. One minor complaint that I dealt with without a problem (I run hot) was the air conditioner was blasting and my food cooled off far to quickly. Yes, we are having some insanely hot weather and I appreciate the efforts to keep the place cool. But some more "delicate" looking ladies were hunched forward and rubbing their arms, and even my nephew said he was cold. Bring a sweater if needed. There was a moment after the first bite, that I had a deja-vu feeling and realized that the burger is reminiscent of In-n-Out burger, my favorite burger of all (and nowhere near the Midwest, sadly). Smashburger may be suplanting my #1. I will definitely dine here again. read more

This is my favorite fast burger joint, but I do not recommend the Oak Lawn location. The burgers are salty enough to kill a horse. I've complained before, but apparently, it falls on deaf ears. I have been to several other locations in multiple states and this location is an outlier. If you enjoy a half cup of salt on your burger, this is the location for you! i went in once and won't go back..... this was by FAR the greasiest burger that i've even seen. i went thru 2 napkins sopping grease off of the burger before i'd even attempt another bite after my first mouthful of grossness. presentation was so-so and the experience of the place left me with nothing to write home about. problem #2.... my fiance ordered a burger and asked for the sweet potato fries instead of regular. they said it was fine, but, hit me with a $0.50 charge and then charged me $1.00 to add mushrooms to her little burger... without exaggeration, it was 5 tiny, tiny slices of mushrooms... maybe 2 little caps total. for what the food is here and with the little exta $$ dings they hit you with, i'd go straight past this place to 5 guys to get a real good burger without the BS and permanent 50 point cholesterol increase. read more

I can't say anything negative about this place and the workers. I order the bacon, bbq with blue cheese instead of cheddar. OMG it was delic. My mom order friend pickles but they were waaaaay too salty. I guess they come already battered which is why they were extremely salty. They took them back with no problem and exchanged them for something different. The sweet potatoes fries were amazing as well. Yet another "gourmet" burger place that seems to be popping up everywhere. Smashburger is no Kuma's Corner, it's no DMK, it's not even a Tom & Eddie's, but it's tolerable. If anything, it is very Five Guys-esque but slightly better, just slightly. I do like having the option to create my own burger, and I am happy to say that a Small Smash is more than enough to fill my hearty appetite. I wouldn't go out of my way eat here, but if I was in the area and was in dire need of an emergency burger, I'll highly consider Smashburger. read more
