Good food, friendly service, 1 major complaint. They don't take phone orders. You have to come in and order and then wait for your food or wait for your food and dine in. I don't understand how a place like this doesn't accept phone orders. If it were like McDonalds where your food was ready by the time you get to the counter that would be diff, but you have to wait in line to get to the counter, then order your food and wait some more for it to be made. So tell me why i ordered a buffalo blue cheese burger, It tasted like i had just licked a ancient cave/salt reserve. It was soo freaking salty. Their fries were OK, and the burger was full of blue cheese and had no buffalo sauce on it , it was a dry tasteless piece of bread with cheap meat on it. My son and I visited the OL Smashburger for dinner. I had the mushroom Swiss burger and he had a hot dog. Call it a Smashdog, it's a $3.99 hot dog. He enjoyed it though. My burger was pretty juicy and was good. Was it 5 stars good, not really. It's not that anything in particular was bad, it just wasn't great. Went on the 2nd Friday night they were open. Lemonade in the soda machine was out. Staff was trying to keep up with keeping the tables cleaned when they flipped over. They did a rather decent job but one more person would have made the difference. They had a line going out the door when we arrived... and the burgers were well worth the wait. My two year old daughter wasn't feeling well. I placed an order online to pick up so we wouldn't have to wait as long in the restaurant and disturb everyone around us. When I arrived with my daughter, she began screaming and crying. A few customers looked and judged not knowing that my ordinarily cheerful girl wasn't feeling well. The staff could have done the same, but the cashier did not. Instead she offered my daughter apple sauce to help calm her down. It was the most simple and effective gesture. This has to be the best burger joint ever. I didn't think anyone could top Portillos but they have done it every time. They are priced the same as Portillos too. I highly recommend Smash Burger. Try the all American Smash, smash size with smash fries and you can get an oreo shake, nutter butter, butter finger etc. They also serve beer in the restaurant! read more

I was very surprised to find a good burger at what looked like a chain restaurant in Chicago of all places. Will definitely go back here again. It's a good buger but not great and also the price for a buger and fries and a soda came out to 12.26. The fires are the thinnest fries ever. And the buger was a little to salty. The location and courtesy of the staff was decent. While waiting on my to-go order, I witnessed the staff being very kind to an unruly customer, which is why I am giving this place 2 stars. Unfortunately, I observed ants in the establishment by the garbage. If you've ever been inside, you will agree that this ant problem is too close to the food prep and eating area. I brought it to the attention of a worker and was told "yea, this is a problem". With that comment I hurried to the car to taste the fries; they were cold. My chicken burger was good, but not enough to overlook the ants. I would like to try this chain again in the future, just not this location. read more

SO DISAPPOINTING!!! They have a grilled cheese on the menu. Either you get a cold sandwich without the melted cheese or a burnt sandwich with melted cheese. I complained, got my money back and was told they would give me a certificate to come back. NEVER HAPPENNED. I live very close and would rather drive to FIVE GUYS for a meal. Very poor customer service. The mangement did not find anything wrong with a burnt sandwich when my son order a grilled cheese. So, they remade it and we received a cold cheese sandwich. YUM?? As we waited for his sandwich to be remade, our fries got cold. Do not try to eat their fries cold. So not just my son's experrience was tarnished, but the three of us also. This place has great burgers! The restaurant is fairly new and offers an amazing variety of toppings. I have been her multiple times and have tried both the burger and the chicken sandwhich. Smashburger has great burgers. Better than 5 guys, better than most bar burgers, better than most burgers I've had. Not better than Top Notch. The meat is juicy but has a nice crunch to it. The bun options are good; pretzel rolls, egg buns, etc. And toppings galore. You can make your own creation or choose one of their "special" burgers. I like the Windy City burger. Pretzel roll, cheddar cheese, spicy mustard, and hey stack onions. The prices are a little high but no worse than comparable places. They serve beer which is nice. This location can get crowded and the service is spotty. Tables are not bused quickly and there is not really a clear policy of bus your own table or leave it for the staff. I am not a fan of this. I have had to ask the manager to clear and clean a table several times before there was anywhere to sit. The staff is also a little lacking on the customer service end. They offer to get you sodas from the self serve soda fountain but then they cut in front of customers waiting to fill their own sodas. The food here is good, great even but beware of the service, or lack there of. read more
