DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE CELIAC I ordered online through doordash and picked this location because they had gluten free buns for the hamburger. I ordered two burgers one for me with a double patty and one for another person who is not celiac and had a regular bun with a single patty. Halfway into eating the double patty burger, I realized they switched the buns. When I called to tell them they acted like they took it seriously but really didn't. They said they'd call back in TWO days. I said whatever just don't give me the run around all I want is a refund. Lo and behold, they don't call so I call back and they say they can refund me only in person after I drive 40 minutes to their store after their mistake. Once he got home, most of our orders weren't right, a burger was missing some additional toppings (which we charged for), we got a side we didn't ask for/want-- our whole order was all over the place. This was my first time trying Smashburger and I'm not all that impressed with food quality and the prices. Two burgers with a few toppings, one fry and one salad with no meat cost me $25. I didn't even order drinks. Are the burgers good? My kids think so.. the French fries didn't taste any different than McDonalds. Kids think that too...The salad was fresh and good but that doesn't make up for the extremely high price of a take out order. I'd rather go to McDonalds. The value is there. I went to the Smashburger in Pompton plains in September. I went with my wife and I stood in line for about a half a hour (I know sounds crazy but I did) with no one in front of me . The employee in charge of ringing people up didn't even look my way at all. I get that he was bringing out food but he didn't look my way, my wife and I just walked out I can't believe it to this day. I left a feedback on there site and the district manager Greg Alpher GAlpher@smashburger.com reach out to me via email and offered to send me free coupons to give Smashburger another chance so I listened. Mind you I never asked for the free items but I had to remind him 3 times to send it to me and when he did, the 2 free Smashburger ones were expired (I went to the Totowa Smashburger) the cashier said they expired on 9/30/19 and I got the coupons on 10/24/19. All he did was crossed out the expiration dates but the code didn't work either. From my experience the customer portion business is not their strong suit, I recommend shake shack and habit burger who have customer service and great burgers. I presented the coupons and was immediately told, the systems were down and they couldn't even override it if they wanted. However their systems worked well enough to ring me up. Ok, I've been to several Smashburgers in the area so I know their food and obviously, by patronizing the business, I like them. When they were opening in this site, I did a happy dance as I am frequently in that area and the Stop and Shop, however, I don't live right around the corner, it's on my way home. I understand this is a new store and the kinks need to be worked out. On the occasions I visited this Smashburger, I ordered the items "to go". The first time, they didn't give me my fries even though I paid for them. This time, I ordered a blue burger and I got 2 beef patties with a little mayo and a slice of tomato, I AM NOT KIDDING YOU. My first encounter with Smashburger. We ordered online for 5Pm pickup. When you order online each order is asked "who it's for" - organized- so I thought. I arrived at @5:02. I went to the pickup area as I was told to via order confirmation. I saw my order unpacked on the counter. The shakes in the carrier, three burgers and three fries of different types.The cashier asked what I wanted I told her I was there to pickup my order- she told me to sit down and I'd be called when it was ready. I sat. a few minutes later two ladies came from the back for a coupon problem. One got a few orders ready for people there- my food sat- shakes melting. I heard the young lady say to a young man at the grill, "If she wanted it she should have been here at 5"- brushed her nose as she packed my order. Three separate bags- I thought it was now ready- didn't see/hear the cashier tell her I was here so I went to the register and asked if my order was ready- the other lady asked and it was being put into a bigger bag- the cashier said, "I told her she'd be called when it was ready." I was asked to sign for the credit card and thanked for coming- I had to ask for my melting shakes--- Why order online if I still need to sit and wait? 7min for a pickup?? I got home and each bag had whatever in it- NOT organized- just put in one bag and let is figure it out if you aren't going to follow each individual order. I purchased the Holiday Smash Pass where I get a sandwich each day for $1. I presented that along with a coupon for free fries. The manager refused to take it siting that I can use only one coupon. I tried explaining that one was a coupon and the othe was the program but she still refused. She said her credit machine was not working (not sure if she meant the credit card machine) but was credit card was processed properly. If the manager's goal was for me not to come back to this location, she surely got her wish. I will make sure to share my experience at this location read more
