Daughter nice and warm, sitting next to the wood stove

This place was a little off the beaten path, but it was a worthwhile find! Although the bakery selection was a bit limited on our visit, the items available were fresh and very delicious. Coffee selection was also quite limited, perhaps because there was only one person working that day. However, I did notice a steady stream of locals coming in to buy their fresh breads. Decor was rustic and cozy, with the place being heated by a wood stove.

Hidden gem!!!! Go off the Main Street one block to find this French bakery. This is the most authentic French bakery I have ever found in the United States. We were in Steamboat visiting for 3 days and we came here every morning. Go as early as possible as they do sell out. The almond croissant was my favorite but you really can't go wrong. The only thing they don't have is specialty coffee drinks such as lattes and cappuccinos. It is just regular coffee from a dispenser. I can't wait to go back to Steamboat for more!

Amazing outdoor area and the inside is very cozy. Just the deco is a treat. I was told all bread and pastries are made in-house. They all look delicious. They even have a dog treats menu. I saw they also offer day-old bucket with discount. It is a good way to sell it rather than throw it away. Another must visit if in the area.

My fiancé and I are super carb fans, so we love when we find a bakery with great pastries and bread. We've stopped here during our trips to Steamboat and we've always had a great experience. The entrance is a bit tucked away, but once you get close and smell that bread, you know you're in the right spot. The croissants are so buttery and flaky (highly recommend keeping a plate or napkin underneath to catch said flakes) and we love every variety they come in (butter, almond, chocolate, even ham and cheese!). The bread is so crunchy on the outside but so soft and airy under the crust. The cinnamon rolls are a sweet treat and great with a cup of coffee. The staff are always so friendly and the bakery and sitting area are so so charming. Perfect way to start off a morning in Steamboat!

Great small little shop with great baked goods. They have drip coffee and other healthy drinks. A must if you want something quick.

    Monkey bread... looks delicious

I want to love this place. It's really really good. But there are just too many inconsistencies that make me roll my eyes at this place. I always say I'm quitting them but then I keep going back. Today for a party I purchased pastries to share with my girlfriends. Little did I know, the bottoms were completely black. They sold them to me like this, No warning, no comment. They sold this $6.95 monkey bread to me, burnt. I'm done. Last straw.

Almond croissant in the front. Pain au chocolate in the back!

Smell That Bread is not one to be missed if you're in Steamboat Springs. We stumbled upon it in search of something to hold us over for the morning, and after taking a few bites, we were tempted to stay and stuff ourselves for the rest of the day! But, since we had plans to head to the hot springs (and needed to fit into our swimsuits), stuffing ourselves further was not an option. Our morning picks were the almond croissant and the pain au chocolat. My personal favorite was the almond croissant. It had a sweet, almost cookie-like shell and a custardy interior to beat. It's definitely not something you'll want to share. We also grabbed a pain au chocolat which was stuffed with a generous slab of melty, dark chocolate. Both croissants were so flaky that our table was covered in crumbs in a matter of minutes. If we'd stayed, we probably would have opted for their savory breads and/or toasts for lunch. We watched the staff prep some of these toasts and it looked like they were very generous with the toppings!

The breakfast pastries are delicious, the atmosphere is quaint, and the service was exceptional. I go here every time I'm in Steamboat.
