Good spot to grab some Mexican food in Steamboat! Ordering was quick and easy at the counter, and there was enough seating available even though there were a good amount of people there. I ordered the chicken quesadilla, carne asada bowl, and house margarita. I thought everything was great. Quesadilla had all the fixings and was loaded with chicken. The carne asada bowl was great and had a lot more ingredients and veggies than I was expecting - in a good way. After a good workout on the slopes, I felt good and healthy after eating this bowl. And it still tasted great! Would definitely return and recommend. Not quite upscale like some other Mexican spots in the area, but in a good way. If you want to stuff your face after a day on the slopes at a reasonable price, this is the spot. read more

This!! Place!! Was!! So!! Good!! We had to go back twice. The patio is right on the river. We tried the adobada burrito and I highly recommend. The pork belly taco was also to die for. Wow blow away by Taco Cabo! They were friendly as soon as we walked in the door and had a large offering of Mexican dishes like fajitas, burritos, quesadillas, tacos, and even had some fresh baked goods next to the register. It was busy which was good to see, you can tell the place is loved. The owner was so personable and kind making us feel like friends or family even though it was our first time. The pricing was high. We spent $65 on nachos, 4 tacos and 1 margarita. The tortillas for the tacos were not steamed, so they were broken before we even picked them up. While my Colorado Pork tacos were spicy and flavorful, my husband's Carna Asada tacos were flavorless and more like fajitas. My margarita was $15, came in a 14oz plastic cup and was pre-mixed, poured from a plastic spigoted drink dispenser. read more

We visited Taco Cabo for breakfast while in Steamboat and it didn't disappoint! There was no one else dining in, so we got primo seats on the patio right along the river. We ordered inside at the counter and the staff brought our orders out to us. We both went with the breakfast burrito. Mine came with chorizo, egg, cheese, shredded hash brown, and fresh pico. You order from an inside counter and they provide you with a table number to bring to whatever table you prefer. I got the chicken soup and it was packed full of chicken and flavorful. I had to update my review especially after they moved to the current location. Seating out back by the river is so beautiful and the willow tree gives the perfect amount of shade. The bar outside is great, they make amazing top shelf margaritas! What I really come for is their tacos al pastor, omg these are delicious. Everytime we visit I have to make at least two trips here to enjoy them. They have great chips and queso as well. The tortillas are freshly made in house and are just perfect. This place was great and a much needed rest stop after a family mountain biking morning. The line was long but moved rather quickly. We easily found a place to sit outside by the patio where we could watch the river run by. After hiking with GF's 6 of us headed to grab some food by the Yampa. Great place, fresh options. I had two tacos special. The side of beans was delicious. A couple of my buddies had fish tacos that looked amazing. We shared a basket of chips & salsa & a bucket of beers for the six of us. We had all of these tacos: birria, carne asada, pork belly, and chile colorado. The carne was arguably the best tasting carne asada I've ever had (and I've had a ton living in Los Angeles). Pork belly was very tasty with a ton of flavors with the other ingredients in the taco (slaw and more). I would recommend the chile colorado in a burrito. It has alot of sauce which made the taco a little bit as sturdy and I'd like. I think I'm a burrito would be a great choice. Dirty Queso was so tasty. I love the place! It is fast paced - but - welcoming. The staff is pretty friendly and accommodating. The tacos are delicious - my favorite is the pork belly. The margs hit the spot. If there are photos showing how small and disgusting this is . My husband knows the owner and for the burritos to be this small is an insult. I have been coming there for 3 years now. Why are they shorting me on food when I just paid 20 dollars per burrito. Out of their minds if they think this is acceptable . Every other Mexican joint has cheaper and better food. Stopped in one night for ice cream for the kids and margs for the adults. First, the layout/set-up of the place is weird. You have to order food at the counter inside and drinks at the bar in the back. We asked if we could get regular ice cream (the menu only lists fried ice cream) and they said ok. They brought out balls of fried ice cream. My husband said "no, we wanted regular ice cream please." They took them back inside and came back out with the same fried ice cream balls. They didn't speak English so I spoke in Spanish and said "do you have regular ice cream?" and the lady snapped at me and said "no, only this!" We were willing to try the ice cream but it was rock hard. We waited about 15 minutes for it to soften up a bit and even then, we had to aggressively cut it with a fork and knife to get into it. Flavor was just ok. Not worth all the fuss. The margs were $10 each - for a small plastic cup and what tasted like cheap tequila and old-school margarita mix. Disappointing experience all around. :( Giving it two stars because it has a cool back patio on the river with a tree and string lights. read more

If you're in search of an authentic Mexican cuisine spot where the food is flavorful and the margaritas will have you not only forget your name, you'll lose it, and will have to return for it the next day; but fret not - They'll hold onto it for you in their Lost and Found; It's a daily occurrence I'm sure. Weather permitting their outdoor seating area is just simply gorgeous; with a casual vibe and an outdoor bar (that's where the margarita magic happens) the space overlooks the river. Just a great spot to enjoy a breakfast burrito or for lunch/dinner a Colorado burrito, perhaps with a side of elote, some chips and queso, and accompany each with a margarita, or three..why not??!! Taco Cabo is yet another super cool eatery in Steamboat. Yelp led us here on a Tuesday evening. It's not a full service restaurant, but the cashiers and food runners are friendly. There is also an owner or manager gladhanding guests. The patio dining is right on the Yampa River. It was packed when we got there but a spot opened up quickly. We chose two bowls. I got carnitas and the wife got a chicken fajita bowl. Both meats were flavorful and moist. The greens were fresh and we were surprised to find some cabbage too. read more

We came here for our last dinner in Steamboat Springs. It's right along the Yampa River. And the seating outdoors is first come, first serve. So it was nice that we scored a large table for 8 people right in the middle, with no waiting time, on a Saturday evening. They have a large bar outside where you can order beer or their signature cocktails. I went with a blackberry mojito. It was really pretty with all the different colors. It was cold and refreshing. A great way to enjoy the tacos I ordered. I ordered 3 of their tacos, including lengua, al pastor, and carne asada. These aren't the regular street tacos, but rather they are quite large. They are also loaded with a lot of topping. Each one is loaded with different sauces and toppings. Carne asada was a little on the tough side. Lengua, as always, was nice and soft. Our group also ordered chip and dip. Comes with either salsa or guacamole. Guacamole was a little sour.... but the salsa was pretty good. Chips were nice and crunchy, not oily at all. I also got a strawberry empanada. It was ok. Not the greatest. Wouldn't order it again. Be careful of the steps leading out. They are steep and slippery when wet. But they do have signs saying to be careful. The next day, I was feeling the heat from all that spice, though. As my heartburn was acting up.... But in general this is a nice restaurant for some good Mexican food. The location itself is amazing. Right on the river. You can sit on the chairs facing the river or be one of the lucky few to grab the table next to the river. Premium prices for premium location as well as good drinks and food! read more

We enjoyed a Great lunch on a Monday around 1:45 pm with my husband and son. This has become a tradition for us to come here for lunch anytime we visit Steamboat Springs. I got he crispy barbaco taco special which came with charros beans on the side. My husband picked three tacos-shrimp, chicken, and brisket which he enjoyed. My son got two tacos-lengua and carnitas. We also ordered the churros for dessert. Everything was delicious! Food came out quickly. We also got photos on the back outdoor patio which is right on the river. There is a front patio as well where we saw a dog and a table on the back patio had their cat in a kitty carrier. I came here just to enjoy a drink or so by the river one afternoon. The patio was lively & started to get pretty full. The river was such a nice view as we sat. You had to go up to bar to order drinks, and then go inside to order food. There were no waiters! The outside bar only had one bar tender, so it got backed up pretty quickly. The Margaritas were great however! A little sweet, so a perfect afternoon drink. We ended up wanting a snack and order the chips, queso, and guacamole!
