Oof, how do I properly put into words, the fantastic experience that is Smelter Town Brewery?! Traveling through the Sedona area, we had a sample of Smelter Town, having ordered a Modern Miner at Vino Di Sedona- the quality of the milkshake ipa was so flavorful, so creamy, so well balanced- my husband made a point on our return trip to stop at Smelter Town itself, in search of more great beer...and yes we found it- Clarkdale at a drive-thru glimpse was a very small town with very beautiful but limited options-arriving at the brewery, was discovering a charming local community gem. Everyone was so friendly, the regulars there drinking, the bartender/general managers, and other staff clearly have a lot of pride in the location, providing togetherness. I loved hearing the bartender tell others about that evening's music bingo- how it was created as something fun for the locals who they had always heard talking about or enjoying music, so they created a whole night for them- We also got the story of the randomness of the folded money in the wall stones- and what started as random became the community giving to charity through a fun bar secret means- Oh, and the wonderfulness of the team coming together to close down for a hard earned week of vacation- not just rotating schedules, but all relaxing together- the customer service, the management of it all, it really was a great model for micro craft brewery We had pints of Hop Deposits solid hops hazy hoppy Broken Pick pineapple juice flavor balanced Broadway -best golden I've had, perfect balance of roasty and of course Modern Miner- all untapped 5 stars; yup, we got the great beer we wanted- super sad we can't buy in MD- we'd have our fridge stocked regularly & music bingo would be our date night- cannot recommend enough- hubby even bought a hat to remember (though sadly TSA lost it moving our bags- and he says it's ok, but I know he's super bummed- that's the impact of happy times at this location) read more

Beers gets a 4. Always has something good to try. Lacking food-but there is a food truck - don't know if it's good or not. I just don't go there to eat. Staff gets no stars. They are always snobbish. Unfriendly. Always. Moping the floor during business hours...smelling cleaning solution, turning the fan on to drown out the music is not good business practice. 0 stars for ruining the smell of my $7 beer. We absolutely adore Smelter Town Brewery in Clarkdale! Whenever we head up north, we always make it a point to stop by and check out their latest and greatest flavors. The head brewmaster, Tim, is incredibly talented and excels at his craft, creating flavors that are simply delicious! This time I tried the Slag Out Stout, a semi-sweet milk stout that was fantastic. According to their menu, it pours a dark, copper-like color with a cream-colored head, and it boasts aromas of roasted espresso and rich chocolate. My husband went for the Hop Deposits Hazy IPA Unfiltered, described as a New England IPA that is light, flavorful, and bursting with citrus aromas, supported by a smooth malt backbone! Quickly became one of our favorite spots while camping in the area. About six different beers on tap, we really liked the Modern Miner, a milkshake IPA. There is a food truck outside and some light snacks are available inside. The service was quick and friendly, the beer was frosty cold. Crowlers were also available to go. There's a nice bar area inside, a few tables and a small bar area outside. Seemed tourist and locals alike enjoy this place. read more

Love this small town brewery. The beer is delicious and the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming.

Earlier this year, my family and I would visit the brewery once or twice a month. Unfortunately, after being treated poorly on several occasions and most concerning, when my daughter discovered a small baggie of cocaine near the front door following the Clarkdale car show we decided we will never return. When I brought the issue to the manager's attention I asked her to take the bag and properly dispose of it and she did, but never showed any kind of concern. read more

I don't drink beer ( wait, keep reading! ) but the place was so inviting we came in. They have sodas (Arizona ice tea and Coke products) and water if you don't want alcohol. My partner enjoyed a few beers (Love is Brewing IPA and Main Street Blonde, a Blonde Ale). He was happy with them. He likes Sierra Nevada on tap, if that helps decide if you have similar taste buds. Again, I don't partake in beer but their selection is good and service is outstanding. We had food from the food truck outside called Sidewalk Grill: the double burger and fries was delicious. We took a quick trip to Clarkdale from Dead Horse State Park to check out this brewery. The staff was friendly and the place had a cool clean vibe inside. The patio is small, very little room for a party greater than 2; however, they do allow pets the patio. The server offered my dog a bowl of water, but I had brought my own - the offer was nice. I was really looking forward to the beer cheese, considering this is a brewery, and found myself disappointed because the cheese was very watered down. The flavor was good, but the consistency was disappointing. I understand cost for everything is high, yet as a customer eating out I'm really looking for quality - I would have not blinked to pay a fair price increase to have thick cheese that hugged my pretzel bites. Loved the copper bar- which is to be expected in a copper smelter town! Hence the name. John hit numerous breweries on our vacation and this one was highly recommended by a local couple who we met at another local brewery the day before- shocker ;) They had a seltzer on tap that the let me sample- I am hit or miss with seltzers and this one was good. Mild flavor and smooth. John enjoyed his flight and since I don't drink beer- I can't tell you much. But he did say they had some really great beers here- guess our befriended couple was right ;) Enjoy! read more

We love visiting breweries, and we were seeing some friends in the area, so we stopped in. This place is in a historic building and their beers are very solid. My husband and I had the pale ale, and then he had an IPA, and I had a pumpkin porter. They were all very good. They had a classical guitar player performing as well, which was a wonderful experience. If you are any where near this place I recommend stopping by. read more

Always a great time at Smelter Town! Stopped in while up north for wine tasting and tried the new Toasted Marshmallow Porter. It was FABULOUS! Pure toasty marshmallow flavor and a nice robust porter. Paired with some yummy beer cheese nachos! The staff is super friendly and provide for a great atmosphere to hang out and drink great beer! So called as Clarkdale was built as a smelter complex processing copper ore from the mines in Jerome. Very cool 100 year old revitalized building in downtown Clarkdale. Got a flight of two hazy IPAs, a sour, and a Hefeweizen. The Hefe was CLASSIC! Incredibly refreshing. The Hazys were delish and there happened to be leftover cookies available from a wedding and I took a bite of a coconut cookie and then a sip of the Hazy and it about knocked my socks off. They should consider making that a regular pairing. But the mango habanero sour "smoothie" was the real winner here. I even got a glass of it. Absolutely outstanding and like nothing I've had before. My wife and I have been to a lot of breweries and tasted a lot of beer. Based on the flight of beers we had and the beer we brought home, Smelter Town tops our list for highest quality beer in the US. With the first taste of each beer, we would slowly bob our heads and mumble "yesssss that's a nice one". They even had a marshmallow stout that tasted fantastic. I'm not sure how you make a marshmallow beer taste smooth, but they figured it out. We enjoyed the beers on the small patio out front. In the dark you can almost imagine that you are drinking beers on an old mining town street. If you are a beer snob/aficionado and traveling through the Verde Valley, you should stop at Smelter Town. read more

Sour was very nice, saison was hoppy, milkshake stout was like a creamsicle (malty, not hoppy), and the scotch was very nice and drinkable. Cute building, cute location.
