Vacationing through AZ, in a camper van, we enjoyed exploring each city-creating our own brew tour- I was really excited to add Public Taproom to our "tour", as they had a fantastic sounding (recently updated) tap list- with a variety of options for THAT Brewery- However, upon arriving, we were surprised to find out they switched to Oak Creek brewery, with a completely different & limited tap list- Honestly, I probably would have moved onto the next spot on our list, but my husband was tired of driving so we decided to stay. We opted for the stout & west coast IPA- both were...drinkable, but definitely slightly below average compared to other AZ breweries- very basic. Which I expected when the description was just "west coast ipa"- unlike the more appealing lengthy citra descriptions of the original expected tap list offering unique flavors- a major disappointment. The atmosphere also could've been better. A few locals were at the bar chatting with the bartender, but they were so focused on each other and loud that we felt like awkward outsiders. I love getting a taste of the local vibe, but this experience just didn't hit the mark for us. read more

Beer and service were fine. The problem was a dog in the bar. There was a man at the bar with a big German shepherd that barked non stop. After 10-15 where you couldn't even hold a conversation, another patron yelled out "shut that dog up". The owner just ignored it and continued drinking his beer at the bar and talk to a couple also sitting at the bar. I believe it was up to the bartender to ask the guy to bring the dog outside to his car. He was disruptive to the 4 other tables who came to sample beer. read more

My wife and I found this place on a recent trip to Cornville. Yeah, people visit Cornville... Anyway, we stopped in and bought two flights - 6 beers each. it was perfect because they had 12 beers on tap, so we were able to sample everything they had to offer. They don't serve food, but you can bring your own in. They do have a popcorn machine. This is a "no frills" setting. You're literally sitting next to the machines brewing the beer in an open warehouse. read more

Not gonna lie, my first impression of this place was that I would enter this building and never make it out alive. We came here on a Tuesday night when it was pretty quiet. The brewery is located at the back of a parking lot without any lights or clear signage from the front. We actually drove by a couple of times before my bf spotted a sign way in the back that pointed to an unfurnished door. There were maybe 2 cars in the parking lot and a lonely table with two side chairs out front. I was really hesitant to even get out of the car b/c the whole thing gave me the creeps. But the bf convinced me to go in, and as soon as I stepped in, the mood completely changed. They have a cute little set up with a small bar and tables laid out by the front with board games available. I got THAT Arizona Trail Ale which was refreshing and crisp. Love this place! They have a solid line up of beers for every taste. I'm an IPA girl, and their Road Rash is my go to. But, I also really like their Trail Ale. I recently went to their 2nd anniversary bash, and their Batch 98 DIPA was superb as was the bourbon barrel aged Russian Imperial Stout. Not sure if these will become regulars, but if not, I hope they become regular seasonals. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. A bar area in the industrial brewery with plenty of tables and free popcorn plus a bunch of games. I always make sure to stop by here when I'm in Cottonwood. What a great find! The best part, ok, maybe not best, was I was able to have m kids sit at a table play games, on top of their wonderful beer! As many breweries it's located in an industrial section of town (I'm ok with that, it's all about the beer!). Our kids played games as we tasted some of central Ariz. finest! yes it is a little difficult to find. the signage is minimal but worth the hunt. fun relaxed atmosphere. it is in big warehouse/brewery with games. the beers are great. they have the usual boring hop beers but they also have some great dark malt beers. turn on your gps and go for it. for me it is a mandatory stop on my sedona trips. they have beers to go in cans so that also helps. no food so do not show up hungry. read more

Visited this location after a fun-packed day at Out of Africa in nearby Camp Verde. I was hankering for a fresh pint of Strawberry Blonde straight from the tap and that's exactly what I got! The building is a large warehouse and production facility (unlike the restaurant in Pine) so it's a little bit of a different vibe, but the staff has that same old friendliness I've grown to love at THAT Brewery. The interior is super clean and is the perfect place to gather with friends to play a game of Cards Against Humanity, foosball, or even old NES video games! If you want to read up on your brewing news, they have a nice selection of magazines from Arizona Craft Brewers Guild, Zymergy, etc. Also, from the signage I saw, it appears they usually have live music on Friday nights. THAT brewery is a industrial warehouse brewery with their production equipment right next to the seating and bar. My wife and I had a flight of their beers and liked some of them. Also, unbeknownst to us, just because the warehouse door is open, it doesn't mean that you can take your beers outside. There is a sign informing patrons to not take beers outside, as the bartender informed me the second time I walked out, but I was too busy licking my chops at the sight of my beer flight to see the small sign. Aside from that, we had a fun time and would recommend it to brewery fans. read more

I believe this is the only brewery in Cottonwood so yeah, it's as good as it gets! The brewery is off the beaten path, you've gotta really look for it but it's worth finding. The beers were just okay but what really made this place was the environment. Super friendly bartender, live music, awesome patrons, everyone so welcoming and inviting. Dog friendly which was a huge plus. I had the best time here and I will make it a necessary stop every time I visit Cottonwood. read more

Good microbrew. They have several flavors (brews) to choose from. We tried the sampler which was 6 different 4oz brews. They had pop corn to snack on. All the brewing equipment was right there in the building. The process looks like it's constantly going with different brews. They had a couple games of corn hole. The place is dog friendly and we had our 2 dogs in there. The bartender was helpful. The location is in the back of an industrial complex so keep heading to the back to find the entrance. read more

Cool little brewery off the beaten path. Ordered their beer sampler of 4 choices (Honey Wheat, Gold Buckle Blonde, Munich Dunkle & Off to Jail Pale Ale) for $12 and an order of their special nachos. Our friends had the bbq pork Sandwich with a side of slaw which looked big enough to share (but she didn't ) and the bratwurst with his choice of coleslaw as his side. I was disappointed to have missed a special tapping of a new craft brew however, enjoyed a beer with one of the brewers who was equally disappointed that I missed out. We stopped at THAT Brewery for a little taster to avoid some of the beat the summer heat afternoon traffic for everyone returning to the valley. THAT Brewery doesn't open until later in the afternoon so we had to stop elsewhere to grab a bite to eat (they don't serve food here like the one in Payson). The tasting room is pretty much in (next to) the warehouse and brewing area so you can see and smell everything that's going on! The tasting area was quite crowded but we lucked out in finding a small table tucked away in the corner. Our recent acquaintance, Joey, THAT Brewery's Lord of the Yeast wasn't going to be there but he said we'd be in good hands. We didn't get to chat w anyone here since the counter and tables were all quite packed but the beer is what we're there to sample so all was still good with the world The beers were yummy as they have always been in the past. We'll be back again soon w growlers in hand Randy for the filling and coolers to keep them safe and sound for the trip back to the valley. We had a bad experience at a wine event earlier in the day and it has been my experience that beer people don't need events like wine people - the products speak for themselves. Secondly, beer brewery businesses are usually started from a home brew background where they: (1) have been able to replicate a tasty beer, (2) do it in mass quantities, (3) have a management team that actually hangs out in their own tasting rooms/bars, (4) are not obnoxious but believe in their product. We found THAT Brewery quite by accident but - OMG! THAT Brewery is spot on with points 1 through 4. I do not care they are in an industrial park and that adds to the ambiance. You guys have a great thing going and I would not change a thing from a marketing perspective. The variety of products which is based on personal taste increases the base of customers. You do not advertise food but provide options which is above-and-beyond; marketing a product you don't carry helps Cottonwood as a whole. This is win-win for 2 diverse businesses. Love it! This is the best place! The beer is delicious and really cheap. The atmosphere is comfortable, casual and very welcoming. And they let me bring my dog in to hang out! I came here after being totally ignored at RIOT because the beer I would have ordered (if my presence was ever acknowledged by any of the servers I made eye contact with) was made by THAT, anyway. I would go higher on my review if the brewmaster who was running the taps would have been friendlier and more interactive. He handed me a beer menu without any suggestions. He did bring me a sample of the strawberry blonde that I requested. Did not ask me what I thought or offered any other suggestions. In the craft brewing world, you have to have people skills. If I am only guy in the place go ahead and chat with me. I don't need your life story. Just promote yourself to a new customer. Hell, he never even asked If I wanted another and I could have walked out when he left taproom for five minutes and went upstairs. I even haf to walk up and pay him without him talking to me or aknowledging my existance. I even attempted engaging him in conversation twice and he just gave short answers. Yeah, I know everyone goes to Cottonwood for wine tasting (and believe me I did plenty of that too) but while we were in town celebrating my birthday my husband and I wanted to check out the new location for THAT brewery since we are big fans of the one in Pine. This place turned out to be their main production facility, not a brewpub like we were expecting. So, they don't serve food or have much room for hanging out but there is a small taproom where you can sample their beers with a bar and a few tables and chairs. It was pretty quiet in there on a Sunday but I was told they get a decent crowd on Friday and Saturday nights. I probably wouldn't bother coming here unless you are really into beer and want to enjoy the smell of yeasty hops in an industrial setting. Most of their brews (which are quite good) you can get on tap at the bars and restaurants around town. read more

Put some friends together and road trip to THAT Brewery. What a find! Went with a gf on an early Saturday afternoon. There is a legal grow house next door. When you get out of the car breathe deeply and linger at the front door to savor the blended scents of THC and IPA, heavenly. Arturo was running the bar, great dude. The vibe is very chill. There was a family with take out at a picnic table and a couple with my favorite breed, rescued pit x, playing one of the floor games. The tanks (I'm sure there's an official name) are stunning and perfect for selfie backgrounds. A flight of 6 is only $8. We shared one of those to decide which beer to commit to. All six arrive in a muffin tin, clever. I loved the Dirty Verde. Gf preferred the Road Rash. They had a food truck coming later but you are welcome to bring your own food or just come to drink. This place could make you want to move to this town. Everyone was kind and friendly. We will definitely be back. I bought a shirt, it's very soft. read more
