He goes to great lengths to deflect and cover up the poor work performed rather than seeking the actual source of the problem and taking appropriate corrective action. I've gone to a dentist for close to a decade now that is wonderful, but is also a 40 min drive from me. So I began thinking that it might be time to explore some dentists downtown that are closer to where I live. As I was taking a close look at my teeth recently, I thought it might be time for my first in office teeth whitening session. At my other dentists' office, they only offered a take home kit with trays for a couple hundred dollars and other than that, I have only tested out Crest White Strips. However, as a coffee drinker I felt it was time for something I little more impactful. So I filled out the inquiry form online for Smile Beautiful and received a call back a day or two later to set up an appointment and ask a few questions about the process. A week later I was in the office for my appointment. I was told the process takes about two hours which includes the basic exam to ensure you're a good candidate, taking pictures, and four consecutive, 20 min sessions for application. While that's pretty accurate, I would suggest buffering in a little extra time if you're a new patient since you will need to fill out new patient forms upon arrival. Everyone I encountered here was so nice, welcoming and professional. Dr. Dan Jones was personable, funny and helped to explain anything to be mindful of. He was thorough but also very caring. It was a good opportunity to get a sense of what my experience might be if I were to return as an on-going patient. I can't remember the name of the person that worked through the pictures, prep and application with me but she was a gem as well. I'm so glad that they take before and after picture because at first, the whitening may not look as dramatic as you might think. But when you take a closer look at the palette of teeth shades to see where you started to where you ended, it's much more dramatic than what may fool the subtle eye. A bit of tooth sensitivity might take place for the day after, but they provided me a topical that could help if I had any discomfort. After a day, I really didn't experience additional sensitivity. I'll be returning this week for a follow-up appointment and to pick up my additional teeth whitening trays that come with the service, but overall I'm very pleased and pleasantly surprised by how great the folks are at Smile Dental! My experience here was probably one of the best dental appointments I've ever had. The receptionist knew who we were as soon as we entered, and greeted my husband and I warmly. When they brought me to the back, since it was my first time, I had to take photos and X-rays. Then the dentist came to talk to me about preventative and possible future treatments I may want to consider. Afterward I received a cleaning and then the dentist came back to check on me. Very thorough service. The only thing I didn't like was that my health insurance was considered out of network and if your dental insurance doesn't cover your appointment/treatment, then be prepared to pay top dollar--very expensive. I have been going to Smile Beautiful for many years. My first dentist at Smile seemed to treat me as if I was overreacting when I was in discomfort. I hate going to the dentist but know that it is important. While she was out for an extended leave, my visits were Dr. Dan. He is very warm, welcoming, honest and funny. As his schedule became busier, I began working with Dr. Justin who is also very warm and funny. They both made me feel as if I was in good hands. After a break I met the newest dentist, Dr. Kim, during my recent cleaning. Dr. Kim recently put in my crowns. He is kind, patient, informative and detailed. He really takes his time and listens to you. I am very sensitive to pain and he stresses that he wants to make sure that I am as comfortable as possible before proceeding. The dental hygienists are wonderful and sweet. Georgina was my most recent hygienist and she has been paired with Dr. Kim for my visits. She is sweet and calming and knowledgeable. She holds my hand or arm when she sees me tensing up. She and Dr. Kim tell me everything that is going to happen. Georgina even lets me practice my very limited Spanish with her. If I'm feeling nervous she really works to help calm my nerves. She and Dr. Kim make a great team. He respects her and what she says. Alesha (sp?), who I believe is the office manager, also goes above and beyond. The office is conveniently located across from the Waterfront metro stop. Last thing: Each year Dr. Dan volunteers in the Amazon to provide free dental services and has held a coat drive for people in need in the surrounding area. I could probably find cheaper services elsewhere, but I would recommend Smile to anyone for all the reasons I listed above. read more

While as a child I didn't have an option (i.e. I went where my parents went), certainly as an adult I had options. But when you hear horror stories from friends about their dental visits elsewhere why take that chance? As a young child, I saw Dr. Paul Jones who always provided great dental care. Smile Beautiful is now under the leadership of his son Dr. Daniel Jones (affectionately referred to as Dr. Dan). Dr. Dan has done an amazing job of nurturing and growing this award winning practice. Keeping the family tradition alive on both sides, I've been bringing my daughter here since 1998 and she wouldn't dare think of going somewhere else either. My parents still come here too! I have to give a special shout out to Ruby who is part of the office staff as she's been here for as long as I can remember. I LOVE the dentist. I especially LOVE this dentist. This isn't a dentist, it's a medical mouth spa! You're treated like royalty and the space is amazingly and calmingly appointed. None of that blinding fluorescent light ricocheting against sterile white walls to blind you. Everyone has fantastic bedside manner and they keep rubbing Vaseline into your lips (damned matte shades I love so well!) so you don't get dry and cracked as they work on you. Skillful practitioners who EXPLAIN what they're doing, why there're doing it and what is happening in your head! Plus, they give you a gift bag with your new toothbrush and toothpaste in it. Dr. Fitzpatrick is the most skilled dentist I've seen- and I am hella picky!!!! If you aren't excited to go see your dentist, you need to leave him and come get some real dental care. I loved this dental office before it moved to its shiny new location. AFTER it moved, the incredibly pushy sales tactics began. They provided unnecessary services that were not covered by my insurance that I had to pay for out of pocket (flouride treatment...not a thing for adults, by the way). They constantly tried to upsell me into additional services. They had me fitted for a biteguard using an outdated material (this is according to my current dentist) that breaks down a lot faster and needs to be replaced sooner (more $ for them). When this practice was located in a tiny English basement in SW, I had great experiences going there for about two years. But everything turned entirely on its head as soon as they relocated. It was very disappointing and I left the practice. Since then, they have aggressively pursued me via phone, text, and email, despite my repeated attempts to get them to leave me alone for more than a year. I'm assuming that they need to meet the profit margins to allow for their very beautiful, shiny new office. Beware! read more

I was due for a cleaning this week and Smile Beautiful was in-network for my new insurance (Cigna/BCBS), conveniently located, and had great reviews, so I made an appointment and I'm so happy I went with them! All of the new patient forms could be completed online, which was very convenient. The entire staff was as nice as could be - my hygienist, Emeliana, was the best I've ever had (and I have moved around a lot)! She was cognizant of the sensitive spots I mentioned, was super gentle during my cleaning, had great advice, and was fun to chat with! Dr. Jones was awesome as well - they really took the time and treated me like I was the only one in the office. The office was super clean, covid-appropriate measures were taken, and you could tell they used the latest technology for assessments. I cannot recommend this team high enough! read more

Everyone very professional and efficient. And friendly. A few reviews mentioned products being pushed on them, but they didn't even try to push any services or extra treatments on me. My dentist Dr. Jones, dental hygienist, Olga, and my dental assistant Tiffani are individually awesome but together make up a dental team who can guarantee a painless, and at times, enjoyable dental visit. My dental anxiety was through the roof but Tiffani stopped and took the time to listen to my fears, share her dental story, and then walk me through each procedure. So sweet, so empathetic, so calming. My biggest dental fear is pain. Knowing this, both Olga and Dr. Jones have a bunch of modern products like flavored numbing creams to make sure I'm always super comfortable and pain free during any procedure including a cleaning and fillings. And SBD gets extra points for their comfy, modern, convenient, super clean offices; a surprisingly nice playlist; and calming images running on a screen in every room. He may have good training and he seems like he's solid with his knowledge at what he does but he's just not good at connecting with people, making them feel comfortable and relaxed. His remarks will catch you off-guard because this is someone that clearly thinks everything is a joke. Dental work can be quite painful - both financially and physically, so it's imperative to be professional and polite always. If you decide to go to this office, seek out the other dentist. There are many pros about this dental office so I want to start with those. The office is new and very beautiful! The staff has always been very professional and nice whenever I call or come into the office. I really enjoyed Dr. Fitzpatrick and she made the dental experience great. The reason that I have to take off stars and wouldn't come back is because of the billing. I have really great dental insurance and even the billing staff commented how great my coverage is. But I've had the hardest time dealing with billing, being overcharged and finding out what the real price is. I needed a root canal and crown, which is pretty routine I would guess. I was given a quote, it seemed a little high so I went home to try to figure out with my insurance why'd be paying so much. Called back and the billing dept had a hard time explaining. Only after inquired about an extra $300 I couldn't account for, I was told oh we like to use our own lab so that's not covered. Umm that's a lot of money and something that should be told up front. Why would I pay $300 in lab fees but my insurance covers a vast number of in network labs. I didn't like that I had to pull teeth to have my quote explained. But fine I liked the office and staff and was willing to still have other work done. I visited the office numerous times and was given an estimate at check out of how much I owed outside of insurance. I paid and didn't think anything of it, I then received an explanation of benefits from my insurance and my co pay was so low I was wondering how the office estimates they had me pay were so off. I hadn't been in the office in 6 months and no one bothered to tell me I had paid hundreds of dollars extra and even kept asking for payment when I visited. Only reason I knew I had overpaid is because I checked. When I called about they said oh yeah you do have an overpayment. They way they bill, don't explain fully estimates, charge for things that are routinely covered, and just lack of transparency about overpayment I can't go back. read more
