After doing a little research, I came across a mouth device, called Thornton Adjustable Positioner, (TAP 3), which is a mouth device much like an Invisalign. The next step would be to figure out which orthodontist would offer the device. I made an appointment to see Dr. Iyer at Dr. Segal and Iyer Orthodontics, located at 501 NJ - 73 #202 Marlton New Jersey. I can honestly say I've never been to a facility more organized, and with 21st-century technology. Dr. Iyer was extremely amazing! She was able to sit with me and educate me on exactly how the device worked and how it's going to benefit my sleep habits. I will definitely recommend anyone with sleep apnea or any orthodontic issues to see Dr. Iyer. You will not be disappointed. Throughout the years there have been checkups, fillings, sealants and a lot of undivided attention to detail. My kids now know the truth, but when they were little, they had no idea that they were administered Novocain "injections".......yes, she's THAT good! They never felt a thing. The atmosphere is bright and clean. You are greeted with an array of colors and 3D adorableness around every corner. The staff is so welcoming with their "hellos" as they escort you to one of the magical exam rooms. Every dental hygienist takes great care and engages with the patient while all along including "mom" in the visit. They are truly fantastic at what they do, and for that I am grateful. I must admit, our favorite is Sue. She and Dr. Champion have watched my children grow up so they make great effort to catch up on the last 6 months in between checkups. Dr. Champion goes above and beyond in her care. I'm always in awe of her. Just yesterday my son reported for his routine 6 month checkup but saw that he had a problem and immediately changed her schedule to take care of him right away. She could not "let him leave like that", is what she said, and she didn't. She fixed his smile so that he could regain a confidence that only Dr. Champion realized was needed. Not only that, she spoke to "him" reassuring him that he could call her at any time to let her know how the repair was lasting. She really wanted to ensure my son "stays" okay. I saw an interaction where one of the doctors legitimately ignored their own staff member. I didn't think too much of it, because I don't know the culture there. So I did some asking around since I know some folks that have worked there in the past. Apparently turnover is incredibly high, as at least 5 people have resigned in the past 6 months. There isn't much communication as an entire team, which is obviously a problem with such a small office. Doctors are passive-aggressive to the employees they don't like. They use ableist language and get weirdly upset when people take sick days. Also, there have been microaggressions against Black and Brown staff members. I know 3 people who have worked under these doctors, and it sounds like they do great work, however I'll NEVER support an office that treats their staff so terribly.

I had hesitated for years to get braces as an adult.
