Both Dr. Moravian and Dr. Tran are very patient and highly knowledgeable. They don't pressure you and they explain your dental needs in reassuring way. They are the only dentists I trust. I need a lot of work done and Dr. Tran took into consideration the high cost of what I needed, and provided a temporary alternative to keep my teeth from further decaying until I could afford the procedures I needed. Dr. Moravian is very passionate about dental health and it shows through his work. He explained all the modern technology in the office and equipment that he was excited about to come. Even the hygienist is amazing. We had a long conversation about holistic health and the dangers of too much sugar while I received my cleaning. I could go on and on about this office, but I'll just end by recommending everyone to visit 20/20 dentistry. If you were ever afraid of the dentist, this office will completely change your outlook.

I had been seeing Dr Malek for about two years, and have some dental issues. I require a gum graft and can sometimes be inconsistent with cleanings due to sometimes struggling with my mental health. However, Dr Malek was initially personable when I was a new patient, then was harsh and impersonal when I returned to her practice for my cleaning. Then - I was informed that "my insurance wasn't covering the procedures I had at the right percentage" In reality, Nicholas Cosmetic had gone out of network for MetLife and no one at the practice informed me - nor was I informed when I first started their as a patient. Of course, I'd already made my way to their office, wasting my time and their time. When I said it would have been nice to receive a phone call prior to my appointment the office manager mumbled some snarky retort and was unhelpful. Further, I have concerns about the quality of work on my teeth. For months, a filling affected my bite which I've never experienced before. Then recently, floss got stuck on a piece of composite in my mouth which eventually chipped off. Doesn't seem serious but makes me question the quality of work. I also had a "deep cleaning" that Dr. Malek said I needed if I didn't want to lose my teeth - which seems to have been utter malarky. I went in for the deep cleaning and she spent approximately fifteen minutes cleaning my teeth. I was prescribed a mouth wash for the inflammation - which never came. When I told my new dentist this, she was shocked. It's clear by her designer puppy roaming the office and her Goyard bag that Dr. Malek has made her income the priority, not the care of her patients. They do have an excellent hygienist on their staff who is wonderful and I know from a different office. Given the choice of excellent dental practices in Philadelphia and amount of competition here, I will be shocked if Dr. Malek's practice survives another year. Come here if you want unnecessary procedures performed, your pocket drained, and to be treated without dignity or respect.

They charged 50$ for nutritional counseling that they never offered. They lied to my face 3 times about my insurance coverage. I had to go to another dentist to complete the "cleaning" they did. And the 4-11 cavities I had, yeah that was maybe one after a second opinion. These people are crooks and thieves. They should be shut down at the least and charged criminally at the most. Take the time and find a real dentist. The quality of care was so far below subpar.

Her hygienist, Lena, is also a pro and very friendly. And the office manager, Amy, could not be more pleasant. Then charge my insurance with "tooth pain". My husband saw her too and she wanted to take all his fillings out too, do a deep gum cleaning and get him a mouth guard, all from one visit! No other dentist before or after said that to him. I asked for my X-ray to be sent over to new dentist. The X-Rays she sent were horrible, blurry, etc. my new dentist had to take new ones (he didn't charge for the X-rays.) That uncomfortable bite, he fixed it in 10 seconds and didn't charge me. Of the fillings she replaced many were damaged. She drilled so close to the nerve on some that they had to have root canal treatment. Did she do this on purpose to do the root canal herself, plus crowns, so she can get more money or was it bad work? All in all, I had a very bad experience, had to switch dentists and spend $1000s to fix the work she did and had increased pain.

Dr. Hassler is the best dentist I've ever been to. Dr. Hassler is the nicest guy, and I always feel like he's very honest with me with if anything needs to be done to my teeth. I trust him and now that I live an hour away, I still travel all the way downtown to see him every 6 months because it's worth the trip. The staff is also really friendly, and even though I had some issues with my dental insurance (not the staff's fault) they helped me figure out what I needed to do to make sure everything was taken case of. We made and attended appointments - and then I was told that they do not take my insurance. (but they are listed on my insurance web site - go figure). Anyways, they charged me several hundred dollars more for my regular cleaning. - like more than 3x more than what they charged my bfs insurance for his cleaning. I paid so this mess wouldn't go to collections. And then I had to fight them thru my insurance. This office lied to my insurance and claimed they sent me full repayment even though they had not. My insurance handled it but it took forever - and then I was finally paid back. Once settled and reimbursed I walked away and found a new dentist. Never to set foot in this unethical office again. Since we love Dr Volinsky, my bf continued scheduling appointments every 6 months, seeing Dr V w no problems. At his very last appointment, my bf had to take vacation from work for his appointment. He arrives, and the hygientist takes one look and tells him his teeth need so much cleaning that they couldn't possibly fit it in during his appointment. (meanwhile he was just there 6 months before for a cleaning that this office did!! Plus! He brushes multiple times a day and flosses daily. Plus he took vacation from work for this exact purpose). He would need a much more costly cleaning and if they did it that day insurance would prob not cover it. They wanted him to reschedule. Then!!! Instead of Dr Volinsky coming in, another dentist enters the room and tells him that Dr Volinsky just retired!!! Like it was an out of the blue decision Dr V made that morning or something. So he would not be seeing Dr V at the appointment he had scheduled w Dr V!!! The office scheduled an appointment w a Dr who doesn't work there!! Then doesn't inform the client that he won't be seeing the person he is there to see!!! So shady. But it gets shadier. This new doctor suddenly found all kinds of costly problems w his teeth!!! Problems that were not there 6 months before when he saw Dr Volinsky. Including wanting to pull teeth from his mouth. Obvi - he got the hell out of there and has not returned. Lastly, this office will tell you at least 100x while you are there that they are the "official dentist office of the Eagles". As if I also work in a career where I am getting my teeth busted up and need a similar procedure to an athlete from our football team. Ironically, my dermatologist is the official derm of the eagles and the only way I found this out was because 15 years into being her patient, she needed to switch my appt to go on the team plane to the Superbowl. But I guess she has her reputation to go on so she doesn't need to mention this. (unlike this awful office).

I saw an interaction where one of the doctors legitimately ignored their own staff member. I didn't think too much of it, because I don't know the culture there. So I did some asking around since I know some folks that have worked there in the past. Apparently turnover is incredibly high, as at least 5 people have resigned in the past 6 months. There isn't much communication as an entire team, which is obviously a problem with such a small office. Doctors are passive-aggressive to the employees they don't like. They use ableist language and get weirdly upset when people take sick days. Also, there have been microaggressions against Black and Brown staff members. I know 3 people who have worked under these doctors, and it sounds like they do great work, however I'll NEVER support an office that treats their staff so terribly.

I have had Invisalign several times in the past, yet my teeth were still a mess. Dr. Tewari showed me how my teeth were crashing down on each other and urged me to fix them before I wore them down further. The level of detail and precision she applied to my case is unmatched. And I cannot believe how great my teeth look. She also does the cleaning herself and applies that same care to the routine work. As a patient of Philly Smiles, you can be completely confident that you will not be talked into unnecessary work, will not be overcharged, and that the environment is absolutely safe and professional. I cannot thank Philly Smiles and Dr. Tewari enough for the care I received during my time in Philadelphia. I will miss this practice immensely. Also, this is NOT the practice that has been shut down by the health department. That would NEVER happen at Philly Smiles.
