5 stars are not enough for Dr. Kay and his staff! My crown , from a decades old root canal, literally fell out of my mouth yesterday morning. I am not elderly and have no dental problems so that is was somewhat traumatic (bottom center tooth). I live in Florida and was at the jersey shore and I panicked. A good friend and long time patient of D. Kay's got me an appointment immediately so I drove to center city. They all greeted me so warmly and Dr. Kay went to work immediately to make something temporary that would be the roadmap for my replacement when I return home. It was a big job, requiring 2 1/2 hours of skill and artistry. The result is miraculous. That they squeezed me in with no notice was extraordinary. Does anyone love going to the dentist? I know some of you do, but I do not. Here's the thing though, Dr. Kay is amazing and the staff is wonderful. I'm older, I need a lot more work than most and it is expensive. No one else I would trust to do this kind of work though. Will not give back any of my deposit of $5000.00. He gave Amex a break down of price's and gave my insurance company different prices. He's to expensive for me. He removed 11 crowns, when I was told it was going to be just the front 5 crowns. Also billed my insurance company for a crown on my husband that he never did ( only a temp). All the ladies in the office are all very sweet. I will miss them. The two other dentist are no longer at the office Dr. Berson and Dy Yaffe. Dr. Kay is nice and very detailed...The staff is very nice and orderly. The facilities are super clean, but it's a bit pricey. Dr. Kay takes his time to evaluate and treat your teeth; which is commendable for a young doctor. He is a great communicator through out your treatment as well. No one beats Dr. Yaffe, but they try their best to treat you at Dental Spa, and respects each patient very much! read more

First off I want to say I am one of those people that loves going to the dentist. I look forward to my cleanings every 6 months. On October 4th I went in for a cleaning which is always wonderful with Angela, she is one of the best dental hygienists I have ever met and the ladies in the office are great too. I was also a patient of Dr. Berson who I loved as well but no one told me Berson left until I showed up for my cleaning and was told that Dr. Kay is helping Dr. Berson out. They never said that he sold the practice and Berson was gone permanently. When I went in my teeth were in great shape, no pain felt great and looked great. I was told that I had 2 teeth that needed fillings from the last time I was in they have their notes. I was hesitant because my teeth felt fine, no issues. They insisted that if I didn't get these two teeth filled that I would eventually be in a lot of pain so I said, what the heck, I am here just fill them. The novocaine shot was given and then Dr. Kay started to drill immediately. He didn't wait for the novocaine to kick in.. I said, I feel the drill so he gave me another shot. He filled the two teeth and as soon as the novocaine wore off I experienced a tremendous amount of pain. The top tooth and the bottom tooth that he had not worked on were both in pain. Sensitive to food, hot, and cold. It hurt to brush my teeth. I called them about the pain the very next day and Dr. Kay said it sometimes takes a long time after you have a tooth filled before the pain goes away but it has been 3 weeks and it still hurts. He offered me to come back in but quite frankly, I am too upset about this to go back to him. I paid close to $1,000 for 2 teeth to be filled and a cleaning and now I have to go get my teeth fixed by another dentist and pay again. I am not happy about this experience at all and I thought writing it down would make me feel better. read more

Dr Newell has been my dentist for years and is always friendly and personable. Angela is the best dental hygienist that I have ever had. She makes the cleaning quick and painless. Plus she is always happy and upbeat. And you get a hot towel for your face at the end of the visit! And she doesn't ask questions when she knows you can't answer easily! The office is nice with tvs in every room. Always a friendly experience with everyone who works there!! Would recommend them highly! read more

I wish I could give Dr. Berson a zero, but I have to give at least 1 star. I was referred to Dr. Berson by a colleague of his when I went to get implants. My daughter paid Dr. Berson $14,400 in cash, via check of her hard earned money, because she wanted me to be able to smile again and most important, to be able to chew food. I was working with Dr. Berson for over 3 years going back and forth because he just couldn't get it right. I was traveling 6 hours one way and would always have to stay at a hotel because the trains did not run after a certain time going back to Indiana Pa. One blunder after another. I experienced racism from his then dental assistant Jessica who said to me when it was time to pick out the color for my dentures, that "people with dark skin, do not look nice with white teeth, only people with light skin and light hair, look nice with white teeth" so instead of bringing me the tray with the various shades, Jessica brought one tooth and said, "I think this is the shade that would be good on you." Instead of Dr. Berson dismissing her immediately, he told me, I wouldn't have to deal with her on my next visits, yet as traumatized as I was, on my next two visits, who calls me in the room, yes Jessica. I had to tell her myself that I did not want to work with her. This girl really freaked me out. Why would she care how white a 63 year old African American woman's teeth is? After 3 plus years, Dr. Berson left me with an ill-fitting denture. I have to pay another dentist an additional $1500 to fix the denture in order for it not to keep popping out of my mouth every time I bite down. When the new dentist look at my denture, he made a funny face, and I said, I know it looks pretty bad, his response was..."That's putting it lightly." UPDATE: ON MAY 7, 2016 THE DAY BEFORE MOTHER'S DAY WHEN MY DAUGHTERS WERE GOING TO TAKE ME OUT TO DINNER, I WAS IN THE BATHROOM RINSING MY DENTURE, WHEN IT FELL OUT OF MY HAND AND LANDED ON THE FLOOR. WHEN I LOOKED DOWN IN HORROR, MY DENTURE HAD SPLIT IN TWO PIECES!!! NOW I AM TOOTHLESS THE DAY BEFORE MOTHER'S DAY. WHY WAS THIS DENTURE MADE SO FLIMSY, TO BREAK SO EASILY...$14,400 FOR A NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE, AND NOW NO DENTURE!!! read more

I will be short . There is no option for zero star so need to rate 1. I never wrote negative review in my life but I am in a position to do now. I had the most abusing experience of my life . They damaged my teeth cosmetically . Absolutely no sense of aesthetics and worst of all they showed no empathy towards me, they were extremely defensive and the initial doctor who caused the damage did not even bother to reply at all. On top of this they charged me 3 times more than the average charge in the whole USA, I guess cause I was an innocent foreigner from Europe with no insurance. Still in tears for the fact that my natural teeth will not come back as they were but happier that another doctor in a West coast of US improved the damage aesthetically!!! read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Kay and his staff at Philly Dental Spa. I'm a very picky customer when it comes to healthcare and when I walked into this immaculate office space I was truly impressed. The care given is second to none. Teeth can be a very sensitive subject and Dr. Kay made me comfortable and feel "heard" at my first consult. He not only took the time to listen to my concerns but thoroughly explained his plans to resolve my dental issues. I am highly pleased with my experiences here and look forward to coming back. Having recently relocated from the West Coast, one of the worries was finding a good dental office. I have been very pleased with the care and professionalism of Dr. Newell and Angela, the hygienist. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and both Angela and Dr. Newell are competent and caring dental professionals that I have grown to trust them in a short period of time. I was not at all pleased with either the finished product or the treatment received. We worked primarily with Dr. Berson. The finished denture is falling apart, ill-fitting, and the result is difficulty with speech, etc. Berson even damaged the finished denture with a soldering tool, but didn't fix it! I contacted Dr. Berson on several occasions to rectify the situation and have been ignored, not even an apology! Thousands of dollars down the drain; the work will have to be redone elsewhere. Run away as fast as you can I have been dealing with Drs. Yaffe and Berson for a few years now, they talked me into alot of work that still isn't right. I am in constant pain and when I have complained about it to them I get bullied and pushed around and now after $13,000.00 worth of work I am in worse shape. This office is the BEST!! The staff is extremely warm and friendly. Everyone really goes out of their way to make sure you feel calm and relaxed. They offer headphones, nitrous oxide, blankets and pillows to ensure your completely comfortable. I would highly recommend the "Dental Spa" to anyone looking for a new dental office. read more
