The overall atmosphere is welcoming and caring. The staff is amazing. From the techs to the dentist himself. They make sure they answer every concern you may have. The children have an area where they can play tablets while they wait to be seen, which imo helps with the worry kids may have during waiting to be called. When I took my daughter there her crown had fell out but not with the tooth, I told them to put her under anesthesia so it doesn't hurt as much, she told me after that instead of putting her to sleep they strapped her down and shove something in her mouth to keep her from closing it giving her lock jaw as they proceeded to take out her teeth also drilling down one a tooth that did not need drilling dow, she told me they were laughing as she was crying and screaming the restraints on her body were VERY tight causing her to have red marks on her skin, they also lied saying she would get a prize after they were done but instead of a prize they shove cotton in her mouth picked her up and shoved her towards me. Wait time is insane, got called JUST for xrays. Had me in the waiting room for almost two hours. Made me miss a whole performance. X-ray lady had attitude the ENTIRE time. 6 months ago they "scheduled" my daughter for 12/19/24 so we show up only to be told that there was no appointment for her. We didn't make a fuss about it, we understand mistakes happen so they rescheduled her for 1/9/25 at 3:15pm. We show up at 3pm and wait in the lobby. We don't get called back until 5pm. Two hours waiting for the dentist and assistant to spend 5 minutes with her. Didn't schedule a follow up appointment. The cheap toys they give out aren't worth it. Will be taking my daughter to elsewhere. read more

Wait time is ridiculous, waited well over an hour, after we got called it was for X-rays and since we already had them done recently so we refused the x-rays and so they proceeded to have us wait longer back in the lobby about another half hour. Sad part is that this was a reschedule because they gave us an appointment card but never had us scheduled so they had to reschedule initially. Yet they had to audacity to act like we were in the wrong. Why do this to people so you can make money off people by over scheduling and wasting other people's time is beyond me. read more

While I wish I could say that wait times at this dental office have improved as it seems to be an ongoing issue, our wait for my son's check-up yesterday was pretty frustrating. We got there 10 minutes early for his appointment and I didn't get called up to sign a form until 25 minutes after his appointment time. We got called back shortly after I signed the form and the dental hygienist started on his teeth. It took about 10 minutes for him to get his teeth polished and x-rays done. Then we were back to waiting. Waiting for about 25 minutes for the dentist to come in. She rushed in, looked at the x-rays, barely glanced at his teeth and then asked if I had any questions. She was in our room for maybe 2-3 minutes at the most. We were told to wait again to be dismissed. For roughly 15 minutes spent with the hygienist/dentist, we were there for about an hour and a half. By the time we left, my son was tired, stressed, and over being at the dentist, which makes for a more stressful experience next time because of how frustrating this experience was. At this point, we would rather drive back up to Clovis to visit our old pediatric dentist than spend anymore time here. read more

My kid had a cavity since 2018 now in 2020 is a root canal and I don't understand what happened because I kept taking my kid ever 3 months for his preventive visits. What was point of all those visits? All those hours on the waiting room because my god do they make you wait. All time off work. My 4 year old has to have a root canal. read more

Every year that I come gets worse and worse. Today I arrived 10 minutes prior to my appointment. I checked in and got told to take a seat. Then maybe 30 minutes of waiting got told that my chart is out of room for signatures that I needed to fill out a whole other front and back paper. Um would have been nice to have been told this when I arrived. Nothing has changed but yet I had to refill it out just because. So basically my daughter finally gets called back 30 minutes after her appointment. The women they have working up front have rude moody attitudes and maybe that's because their patients get tired of waiting. But maybe if they were more professional and on top of things that make their time better managed they wouldn't be this way. Do better it's not the hard. Also closes in 4 minutes and still haven't seen the dentist. Bad experience all together. Hygienist didn't even really talk. Not personable at all. read more

Zero stars should be an option. Waited for an hour in a dirty loud lobby, an hour past my daughter's appointment by the way. Then they began calling in people that had been waiting less than 5 minutes. Plus there was people that had been there waiting before us still waiting. We just got up and walked out. I personally had a great experience here. Took my kids for the first time and the staff was friendly, the doctor and nurse that worked on them were nice and gentle, my 2 yr old who I expected to give them a hard time felt comfortable and enjoyed her experience. The times I have taken my children to this location have always been pleasant. My children have had dental treatment done by Dr. Thai and she is wonderful! Dr. Thai makes the visit comfortable and explains well of what will be done to my children regarding dental procedures. When I went the staff in the front were exceptional, very kind and helpful. I appreciate it so much. Dr. Mugatasa was awesome, playful with the kids which certainly made it easier having 4 kids, and always smiled as well as educated me on everything that was done. Do not bring your kids here. This place is very unorganized and over booked.! I've been sitting in the waiting room for over an hour now. My boys were called to the back for xrays and sent back to the waiting room. I was told they don't have a room open yet! Why would they give us an appointment for 345 and make us wait this f***'n long, RIDICULOUS! .. This place is seriously ridiculous. I dont know how they stay open. Looks worst than an emergency room... Its loud, dirty and smells of urine..This place needs an inspections audit team asap. Its full of families waiting to be seen. I see kids go to the back and come back to the waiting room and wait! Why would they schedule so many patients, and try to fit everyone in a tight schedule, employees look over worked and rushed.! This place is SO kid friendly and the staff are all super polite and always smiling. They were very patient with my crying toddlers and explained everything in detail as far as cavity fillings and what to expect. They give you points per visit on a booklet that leads to a free toy once filled out! And of course the survey that you fill out that enters you in a raffle to win disneyland tickets! read more

Do not ever take your kids to smileland dental in Tulare! I took my son there today to get work done and they strapped him down in a papose which yes i did agree to so long as he was ok and when i left the room he was fine. They came up to the front 2 times to let me know what is going on and both times i asked how he was doing and was told he was doing great. When I was finally took back to see him he looked as if he was in shock and like he wanted to pass out. He has broken blood vessels from screaming and crying so much and he has almost lost his voice. I told them that so long as he was ok they could do the work. There is no way thye could tell me he was ok. His clothes were soaked from the stress of everything. He was wearing a tshirt and jeans. And they were soaked his hair was dripping and everything. DO NOT EVER TAKE YOUR KIDS THERE!!! read more

The dentist and staff are pretty good and I have no complaints about them. However, the scheduling of appointments is horrendous. We have been waiting over an hour past our scheduled appointment time. They are so over booked they are calling kids back, taking their xrays, and sending them back into the waiting room until they have a room available. I could let it go if this was the first time this had happened. It's not. It's the third. Last time we waited nearly two hours. I have been hesitant to post this review because I do like this office and the other doctor who usually sees my daughter but I can not ignore what happened during my last visit because my daughter and myself are still very upset about it.  I was schedule for treatment for my daughter under sedation and was extremely offended when the doctor "hua" kept insisting and refused to do it because she was too overweight. There are different ways she could have approached this but instead she kept on saying how overweight she was for her age and I even overheard her saying my daughter was obese to another assistant. It is one thing to refuse to treat her but another to keep saying she is overweight while my poor little girl, in pain, is just sitting there listening to all of this and now she is embarrassed. I asked to speak to the other doctor "tai" who usually sees her and she was really kind in explaining everything and I don't understand why I was approached that way in the first place it was unacceptable ! I understand and would have let them treat her without the sedation but I was so upset the way doctor "hua" spoke to me disrespectfully that I did not trust that she has the ability to treat her properly either. I suggest anyone coming here to stay away from this horrible disrespectful doctor "hua" that needs to take a class in patient managing! read more

So angry right now! Took "P"to her appointment today for her 6 month exam/check up, which was scheduled by smileland at her last exam. So we arrive about 20 minutes early for her 3:00 appt, there are at least 30 other kids there if not more (I counted 20 for sure). Get called to the front desk at 3:10. The lady asks me if "P" is in pain, why was the appointment scheduled early? I told her that this is a routine check up that was scheduled by them. She said she is sorry and they can either re schedule me or she can get a courtesy cleaning today. I told them we will do the cleaning since we were already here. So then we get called back to be seen at 3:20. The girl tells me she is going to "brush p's teeth" I asked her why she wasn't getting a cleaning as this was supposed to be her 6 month exam, she told me it was too early for another exam, since it had not been 6 months. I informed her that "P" was last seen in August which would be 6 months ago. She told me at first we would have to re schedule for April, but then changed her mind and said she could be seen in March. I told her that is ridiculous to have to take another day off rather than her just being seen today (for her scheduled appointment, that was scheduled by them) and instead I will just find a dentist that can schedule and keep their appointments. Mind you I got a courtesy call last week verifying her appointment for today (they could have caught the mistake then) and another call yesterday as a reminder (another chance for them to catch their mistake) I truly believe they over booked and were trying to make excuses for us to reschedule. I am planning on calling our insurance company to file a complaint, and am now looking for recommendations for a good children's dentist in the Tulare or Visalia area! read more
