I appreciate the effort to get the job done but the wait time is extremely long and unnecessary. the need to overbook and see the maximum amount of patients you can in one day outweighs the quality of your facility's service By a long shot! Rushing your employees to work at that pace will cause mistakes and poor performance to the patient. My child was the last patient and the dentist was so quick to finish the work that she tried shoving the new temporary tooth in my child's mouth multiple times so my child got home and immediately complained of his jaw hurting. The pain my child is going through could have been avoided and the wait time we did was the last straw for me to ever want to take my kids again. Mind you I am always ending up paying out of pocket for what ever they charge that my insurance didn't cover which is totally fine but really to pay for that type of work and experience and professionalism is disappointing. I would like to say some employees there are very professional but some still need some reeducation on proper customer service and professionalism. Smiling and whispering and taking the time and effort to make the customer feel more uncomfortable is not something that should be happening within your facility. I would give it a no star if I could. Its ridiculous that how they schedule their appointments. They schedule by family instead of individually, which is not fair to those who have only one child there for their appointment. Waiting over an hour is crazy ridiculous. We take our grandson to Smileland. The staff & dentist are great. It can be very busy & sometimes a wait but other than that they've been great. Today was my grandsons checkup for kindergarten. Smileland gave him a very nice backpack filled with some fun dental related things (coloring book, crayons, book & water bottle). Wow, I've raised 4 kids & never had a dentist do this. My kids love coming here! The staff always gives my kids a great experience, they are kind and patient. My kids love the dental care package and small toy once they are done with the visit. They also enjoy the tablets in the waiting room area. The staff also gave my daughter a letter to send to Santa and I thought that's the kindness gesture I've seen from a dental office. If I could give a zero star review, I would. Nothing like waiting almost two hours for your child to not be seen or treated, ridiculous. It wouldn't be a big deal if this was the first time, but it seems in this case history will repeat itself. Instead of getting to the point of my children's dental needs, we're gonna talk at great length about how they're going to try to get them in. Instead of just calling them back for the appointment knowing that they've made us wait for almost two hours and actually doing what the appointment is for. They just want to sit and talk about it. If you have extra time on your hands and wish to just throw it away in a dentist office this is your place. read more

I've always been satisfied with this dental office up until my most recent visit when the new dentist decided she was going to be the most rudest person to both my 4 year old and myself....when I asked about procedures on putting a cap on my child's tooth she began to question me on if I was the child's parent...like who else would take my daughter to her appointments and then she rolled her eyes right In my face. Great staff, clean fun place for a kid. So far so good can't complain about anything.

It's barbaric and traumatic the way they work on small children here! Literally traumatizing! They had told me that if he didn't do well he might have to be strapped down on a papoose board so he wouldn't get hurt and I said I didn't want him to be but maybe we would try but that he was easy going and he'd be fine then when I got to the appt they had me sign a paper saying once they started I couldn't for any reason make them stop that I was to stay seated and that I couldn't use my phone at all during the appt I thought it was weird but I agreed thinking it would be fine then immediately they insisted he had to be fully strapped down that any child under 5 I specifically asked before our appt so ya someone lied to me. Another thing they lied about was the fact that they didn't allow him to get the gas which was something I was reassured would happen. The whole experience was horrible!!! He choked and gagged and cried and they had suction tubes and gauze and fingers and dental instruments in his mouth and throat! I can barely stand to write this review it was so horrible! U could tell he was begging for help and I was helpless to help him! It's no wonder they don't allow phones!!!! If I could post a video of what went on in that room they would go out of business!!!! I practically ran out of there with my son in my arms shaking and I broke down and had a full on panic attack in the parking lot. Both me and my son are both traumatized from the experience. My grandma took my cousin the next day and they felt the same way. Now my little cousin suffers from claustrophobia because of her experience. And my son and me are absolutely traumatized from what we experienced. read more

Worst dentist ever! Paid for four white crowns on my 1 1/2 year old she came out with adult size teeth that she can't even use to chew because they cover her bottom teeth & dr said it was normal for them to be that big & uneven ! I've never heard of that being "normal" ! Once we left my daughter was so traumatized she didn't speak or smile the whole day. My best guess is that this is a franchise dental group that hires dentist that are cheap & weren't the best dental students. Said what I said this place is shit! read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would , my 3 year old came to smileland Visalia location after we took him to the Tulare location when he was 1. We thought everything would be great since our experience in Tulare was good . The receptionists were very nice but our second visit for cavity filling was complete and utter hell . I gave the okay for the papoose board IF my son WASN'T COOPERATIVE. That was THE AGREEMENT!!! They brought in the board and said they'd PARTIALLY strap him down which even then I should've took my son and left but I unfortunately didn't which is my fault . They DIDN'T PARTIALLY STRAP HIM DOWN THEY FULLY DID FOR NO REASON MY SON WAS COOPERATIVE. Not only did they do this to my poor baby but they kept insisting he get X-rays even though he was hysterical and gagging cause the camera was to big for his small mouth . They wanted to put him back in the board just to get these X-rays . They finally stopped after he wouldn't allow them and I was visibly getting ticked off . I would not EVER bring my child here again and I do not recommend anybody else take their children here unless they want to traumatize their babies which they did mine . My son was taken to a different dentist who doesn't believe in strapping down children and he wouldn't even let them touch him because of what smileland did to him . Now my son is terrified of the dentist and has to start all over with trust . That's not okay and that shouldn't ever happen to children it should be a pleasant experience . Shame on you . read more

My daughter has always gone to the Smileland in Tulare and we've had nothing but great experiences there. My son hurt his mouth over the weekend and I called the Visalia location Monday morning to make him an appointment and they got him in a couple hours later. The wait was maybe 5 minutes. The doctor was very gentle with my toddler knowing that he was in pain. She was able to tell me what was going on with his mouth and had me schedule a 2 week follow-up to make sure everything still looks good. read more

I was told I had a copay before the chart was even checked to see that I paid full cost of services during the previous appointment... at first appointment I was told that I could choose to use the 32 dollar nitrous gas at next appointment or get a refund... today I was told 50% of the gas was used ... not coming back... so much for private insurance ... maybe we're better off on Medi-cal, and hour and forty minutes after our appointment the dentist walks in ...now I'm told he has a new cavity, which was not found a month ago, on a good note, the assistant was awesome... she explained each procedure to my 5 year old and made attempts to keep him calm... read more

Visit went better then what I expected. My 3 year old feared going to the dentist but the moment we walked in staff were super kind to her made her feel welcomed and comfortable. We waited about 15 minutes to be called back. Back room was very clean and staff were kind and loving made my daughters visit go by good that she even wanted to go back for more visits while we were scheduling for next visit. I would give smileland 0 stars if it was an option. The first time we had visited smileland was for my 4 yr old cleaning , that was great. The issue was when the told us she would have to get 4 white fillings , so we scheduled another appointment. Once we got to the second appointment about a few weeks later they did x rays again. Once we got into the room they told me she needed 4 caps and when I had asked why if I was told she was just getting fillings?? They just giggled and smiled and gave me a bs response. They just keep going back and forth "oh no she's getting fillings" "she needs caps" so after that I walked out and made an appointment to my dentist and guess what all she needs is fillings. Moral of the story they don't know what they're unsure of what procedures to do. I feel like the dental assistants are there for " training/experience" I suggest taking your children to your dentist for a check up and have to them refer you to another dentist to get work done. read more
