Dr. Rayek is very professional and is an all-around great dentist. I would recommend that anyone visit Dr. Rayek for any dental needs.

I left Dr Rayek a few years ago, but his inept dental work still gives me anxiety to this day. I should have taken the clue as others have already noted: jumps from chair to chair, talks openly about patients care for others to hear, hygienist/assistants do work that a dentist should be doing, overcharging billing practices and more. I was a patient for over 8 years and I had no complaints with regular checkups. But then I started getting cavities and Dr. Rayek suggested and PERFORMED the root canal. It was extremely painful during the procedure and looking back was rushed. Surprise, the root canal FAILED and Dr. Rayek performed a RETREAT. I experienced extreme pain still and swelling. He recommended extreme antibiotics which caused further complications. Dr. Rayek (laughingly blamed me) and changed the antibiotics. The infection cleared but I still had discomfort. Sadly, I stayed with the practice and received two additional root canals followed by retreats on said teeth. All root canals were extremely uncomfortable. Not once did Dr Rayek refer me to an endodontist due to complications previously. (Sadly, I did not know I could have went on my own accord). I had another tooth infection on the very tooth that Dr. Rayek had retreated and FINALLY went to another dentist. OMG.... These dentists are nothing alike... After looking at the xrays, the new dentist recommended that I see an endodontist who recommended an extraction and implant. Over the course of the next two years, every tooth that Dr. Rayek performed root canal and retreats on, had to be EXTRACTED. Finally, I left the practice for my current dentist and asked for ALL of my records to be transferred. GUESS WHAT!! I received a bill that I had spoken to the Manager at the time who said I didn't owe anything because I ALWAYS had a credit with this office. Well, months later, I received a collections notice and immediately went to their office and they cleared out the bill. Just bad, bad, bad business practice. Dr. Rayek is a greedy professional and definitely should not be performing advance dentistry. I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't been reported to the dental ethics board. I rarely write reviews, but this experience deserves attention. After moving and being away from dental care for some time, I was assigned Dr. Dina Majeed. I expected a straightforward, professional visit -- instead it felt cold, rushed, and intrusive from the start. After my first x-rays, I was told I had six cavities, two of which involved old mercury fillings that needed to be replaced with partial crowns. That part didn't bother me; I was ready to get my dental health back on track. What did bother me was the lack of basic care during and after the procedures. At my first appointment, my teeth were not polished after the fillings. When I came back to have my temporary crowns fitted, I asked the assistant about it. She told me Dr. Majeed had told her to skip it because they were short on time. When I questioned Dr. Majeed directly, she never apologized -- she only gave her assistant a sharp look and had her polish my teeth in a way that felt rushed and irritated, as if I was the problem for asking. My mouth was still numb at the time, so I couldn't fully assess the quality, but I've since had to go to another dentist to remove leftover residue from those fillings. This office needs to take accountability for patient experience and post-procedure care. I've never encountered a dentist so dismissive and unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend Dr. Majeed to anyone who values basic respect and thorough treatment. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. This place is just a giant scam. I have never in my life ever experienced such lack of professionalism here. All they want it to take your money. They will tell you that you need work, when you don't actually . They even tried to sell me on a bunch of things I didn't need like Invisalign. All they want is to make money at YOUR and YOUR insurances expense. DO NOT go here. I'd rate 0 if I could. And whatever reply they have is going to be full of lies. For example, I went in august for a cleaning. No problems, I went back 3 months later because my dental provides 2 a year so might as well. Suddenly I had "6 nasty deep cavities" that needed to be filled immediately. This was included with all the daily dental care I do twice daily. I should have gone to a second opinion but I didn't have the money to go to a second dentist for a second opinion. I would NOT recommend this place. I was told I needed dental work (fillings), which I found odd since I haven't had any issues in years; I take good care of my teeth. My insurance company questioned and denied the $1,500 quote, deeming it 'unnecessary' based on the X-rays. At that point, I decided to get a second opinion. The new dentist told me, "I wouldn't touch your mouth; there is nothing wrong with your teeth." Recently, I received a balance statement from Smiles at Fairfax for fluoride treatment, which my insurance does not cover. I clearly remember declining this service during my appointment due to the lack of insurance coverage. I called the office several times to clarify the balance, but I kept receiving different stories. Eventually, I spoke with the office manager, who offered no customer service or solutions. I insisted that I did not receive the fluoride treatment because I knew my insurance would not cover it. However, she maintained that their records indicated otherwise. It seems it's their word against mine. I know for a fact that I DID NOT receive the fluoride treatment. I am now calling my insurance company to request an explanation of benefits to understand how the claim was processed, as I do not trust this medical practice at all. I had another crown replaced yesterday after they discovered a cavity under the crown I had using AI !!! This was by far the easiest I have ever had a crown replaced!!! I went in for a routine cleaning and was charged $140 for a "comprehensive" cleaning, which I didn't ask for or need. I'm 26 years old a routine cleaning was all I asked for and my insurance would cover, they refused. They're only about taking money out of pocket. They used fluoride which is $30+ more and didn't give me heads up prior to the extra charges. Please be cautious if you choose to go here based on the unknown out of pocket charges they demand you pay. Won't be back. read more

They are very sneaky when it's time to pay and what the insurance covers... I had a crown made else where in 2020 and told the it had fallen off. I gave them the crown and they said they couldn't cement it back...I specifically told them that if the insurance did not cover for a new one then I didn't want it done. They came back with the numbers and told me the insurance covered half... so I went ahead and did it. Now they are coming back with an invoice of the other half claiming the insurance did not cover it... this is not right, I feel I was taken advantage and the staff did not do their due diligence and now want to cover their backs charging me... I reviewed this place NINE MONTHS AGO ABOUT THEIR BILLING NINE MONTHS LATER. I FINALLY GO THROUGH TO A NEW MANAGER THREE MONTHS AFTER MY PREVIOUS REVIEW. Since then, I have gotten FOUR phone calls about making appointments since cutting ties with them. I spoke to the new manager in may/june telling them I never want to go back. She understood, sent me my records. My husband had then just gotten a "hey schedule your cleaning!!" AND HE WAS TOLD THERES $200 WE OWE. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Last I spoke to the new manager she had told me there are no balances AND IT WAS JUNE 2021. 6 MONTHS LATER WE OWE SOMETHING FROM DECEMBER 2020?! You guys STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!! I was a patient of Dr Rayek for several years, up to 2020. His work and that of his assistants was superb. I also had Invisalign that was very successful during my years there at Smiles. At the recommendation of Dr Rayek, I also had work done to my top front teeth that could not be fixed with Invisalign. I had both porcelaine veneers and crowns. This also was superb. I moved from Virgina out of state. I received a call from the Smiles Financial Manager a few months later (around October 2020) out of the blue where she told me that I had a $400 overpayment / refund and that their refunds are processed through Texas. She mentioned that it would take a few months for the refund to arrive to my home in Nevada. I've called multiple times (about 6 times - every couple of months) and spoke to their customer service who tells me every time that the manager is not available and will call me back. She never calls me back. Just made another call yesterday. It's been two and a half years, and still I have no refund. Do not overpay here. You may never get your money back. Fortunately, with this post, Smiles sent me the credit I was deserved. read more

A waited about two years to review this business truly so I could come with facts and not emotions. Having a beautiful smile speaks volumes in a room. Honestly this placed really cost me time, tears, and a lot of money in the end. I was initially referred to this practice by a friend who is getting cleaning and Invisalign. At the time I had already completed my treatment of regular braces and bonding so I was pretty much going there for semi annual cleaning. I was initially followed by two dentist, who have now left the practice and was in taken under the care of Dr.Rayek in July 2020. Doing that first initial appointment imaging studies were done, and he expressed concerns about old fillings even though I was not having any pain or discomfort, he believe that it was a hole in one of the fillings. To reduce the chances of having a root canal, he recommend having a crown placed. At that time. I also expressed to him my concerns in regards to my front tooth and the bonding. Stating I've had to change the bonding multiple times due to discoloration. At that time he recommended going ahead with dental implant. SN: most general dentist will send you to oral maxillofacial surgeon for dental implants in particular ones in the front. Due to the small space and aesthetic it is a difficult procedure and often requires CT guided implantation. I unfortunately didn't do my own due diligence. Trusted this clinician, mind you I'm a clinician myself. I should have known from there. This guy is a quack dentist. The day of the implantation, the crown that they had for my tooth was improperly sized. Because of this they had to bond my previous tooth to the tooth next to the area. In the setting of significant swelling as well as open area, this is a breeding ground for infection. The night of the procedure I just remember incredible pain and discomfort and throbbing. That night I knew something was wrong. Subsequently that toothless improperly bonded by the hygienist. Mind you hygienist really should not be bonding. I know it's old school in hygienist have done it in the past. However, current practices is that most general dentist perform their own bonding. At least that's how they're billing as! The bonded tooth fell out two additional times and required multiple trips in manipulations. Two weeks after implantation, a dental abscess occurred. Contacted his office and requested to speak with him directly, which I did. Maybe this was his way of sympathizing, but he informs me that he's had his own dental implant failure. This did not see with me as he expected but I did receive antibiotics for 10 days. Completed course of antibiotics. About a month and a half later noted to have significant swelling, and inflammation at which time the dental implant was removed. Doing the extraction of the dental implant I was informed that bone graft would be placed to provide structure for the hole that is there. I was charged complete full price for these procedures mind you and so is my insurance. In the setting of all these missteps by the general dentist, I would have expected a bit more Grace or more negotiation. When we discussed looking at re-implantation even at that time, no referral was made to an oral maxillofacial surgeon. I truly trust in this dentist and decided to go elsewhere. For about a year I had a deformed gum and smile because of Dr Rayek work! But now I have been able to find an OMFS who corrected his work and I have the smile that I can be proud of. I liked going to this place when Dr. Grace Lee was still there. She was always friendly and had good bedside manner. When she left the different dentists that saw me kept pushing me to be treated for conditions like sleep apnea and crowding of my teeth...conditions that Dr. Lee had never brought up before. Another thing that made me uncomfortable here was that they were always doing excessive amounts of procedures like x-rays and flouride treatments. Procedures that were not covered by my dental insurance and I was not informed beforehand that insurance most likely does not cover this. When I tried discussing this with billing..that in of itself was a long and complicated process. I assumed that there would be a DENTIST at my DENTIST APPOINTMENT! I showed up for my scheduled appointment, and was checked in and seated in the dental chair. Not once between the time I arrived at the office to just before my cleaning began was I told that THERE WAS NO DENTIST IN THE ENTIRE FACILITY. The dental hygienist was the one to tell me this as she sat down. Therefore none of my concerns could be addressed, and I have to make another appointment (and be billed again) just to see my dentist as I initially planned. I've been going here for cleanings and had my wisdom teeth removed by a dentist who is no longer there. This last time, I went in for my cleaning and they said I needed 2 crowns. Dr. Mai is the worse dentist I have seen and the other lady as well. They both did some terrible work that caused me to have a lot of pain and ended up having to see someone else. BEWARE! This was the worst dental experience I've had -- EVER. I told the dentist in the chair that her bedside manner was unpleasant and unprofessional because she was having a conversation about men and trips to Vegas while doing fillings on my teeth. I had an 11AM appointment. I was 20 mins late to my appointment for which I apologized. Virtual school had me tied up this am because my son's class had a sub. When I arrived, they told me I was an hour late. They tried to tell me that they had moved my appointment time and that they told me so on a prior call, where they verified that I filled out the new patient paperwork. I did so online prior to appointment. There was no mention of moving my appointment time. Integrity is must. They have 0. That was strike 1. Next they told me that they would not be able to accommodate me with same doctor to do cleaning and filings. I said ok no worries and took the offering of 2 doctors to complete my appointment. When the doctor came in she was not friendly nor did she introduce herself. It was odd. She had a huffy disposition. Strike 2. Then before I knew it she was doing an exam and suggesting the more than 10 of my teeth needed crowns. I was in shock and she did not break this news nicely. Crowns are around 3K each so there was no consideration of cost. I asked her which crowns I needed to prioritize. She gave a round about answer. She tried to persuade me to get a crown right NOW -- after telling me that 5 people were waiting on me and that I disrupted their schedule with my lateness. Now all of a sudden you have time to do a crown? Again, I apologized but that gave her no right to be rude and attempt to guilt me into spending more money during this appointment. It was insane behavior from start to finish. I was floored and I told the front desk upon leaving when I promptly had her send my records to my email, cancelled the cleaning and let her know I would never return. Basic respect, customer service and pleasantries are not in this office! Let to be a warning to anyone else. 6 months into my Invisalign treatment, and I think it's definitely time for an update! I've had nothing but positive experiences at Smiles at Fairfax Corner -- the staff is super friendly, my appointments are quick, and my teeth get straighter and straighter every day! They are being super accomodating with the fact that I'm getting married in January, and thus have asked to take off the attachments (little enamel bumps on your teeth to help the Invisalign aligners do their job) before the big day. They also gave me free whitening gel to use along with my Invisalign, so I don't even need to worry about a separate whitening process! Fair warning to those of you considering Invisalign -- the attachments make it so that the trays aren't really so invisible after all, but when the aligners are out, you really can't see them at all (they're the same color as your teeth). So they're not actually quite as invisibile as you'd think, but you an always just pop the trays out whenever you need to snap a pic, hehe. I can't wait to post photos of the final product so you can see how much brighter, straighter, and fuller my smile has become! read more

Smiles has been my primary dentist since I was a little kid, I am now 19. I am missing both lateral incisors (8-9), and as a result, I had a Maryland Bridge fashioned freshman to replace them (a Pontic glued to its adjacent teeth with metal wings on both sides). Before I could get said bridge I had to go through 2 years of braces to create adequate space for the bridge, and ultimately implants. This occurred freshman year of high school. At first I was very pleased, however, since then the bridge has broken upwards of 15 times. The metal has broken off leaving each bridge with a singular wing. Instead of attempting to replace the wings, or the Pontic all together, Smiles has simply slapped on more glue. Consequently, my teeth have shifted. The constant repairs mean that the spacing is always slightly different, allowing for movement and once again, no real fix. This is extremely frustrating as I constantly have to worry about what I can and can't eat (I am not allowed to bite any remotely hard foods). Additionally, when I went in over this past summer to get the bridge fixed, yet again, I was told I needed extensive new work done. Braces for a second time, a bone graph, etc etc. I feel that every time I go in to get the mistake they have made fixes I'm told I need to pay for an additional issue. I am frustrated, and tired of having to worry about my teeth 24/7. I am 19!! I shouldn't have to feel so insecure and aware of my teeth!! I apologize for such a long review but I am extremely disappointed and my smile feels defeated. read more

I've been coming here for 5 years, and tens of thousands dollars later I had to make the decision not to come back ever again. Rayek overbooks patients and this causes frustration not only to us, but to himself. He can't focus on the work as he jumps from chair to chair. In my particular case we got to a point were it was not feasible any longer. I heard him discussing my medical case to the assistant WHILE visiting another patient. I then heard him again talking in the hallway about my case and so I got up and confronted him. He laughed. Not only this is completely unprofessional, but it's a violation of the HIPAA privacy rule. He had, and still denying that the medical device he sold me carries potential side effects. After calling the manufacturer and confirming on their portal that the device does in fact carry side effects, I scheduled another appointment in which he denied again any potential side effect. My feeling was that it's not about the patient and treating patients but it's about making an extra buck! They did treatment that was unnecessary so our insurance did not cover it. I used this dentist for a few years. While the work was simple checkups (cleanings), it was OK. However, the last three visits have really gotten bad. Mostly from an insurance perspective. I went for a normal checkup and was told that my BC/BS insurance now required them to "process it differently" and that I would have to pay upfront. I was reissured that I was covered -- basically, this was an administrative hassle only type thing. Well, the dentist said I needed to come back again (ended up being 2 more times) to get my fillings replaced. Each time I was assured by the front desk that my insurance was ok but that I had to pay upfront and wait for the insurance company to reimburse. Was even told that one of the previous claims was shown as paid by the insurance carrier and that I would receive that payment "soon". Ya, not so much. $1400 (yes, fourteen hundred) later, the insurance company tells me that is wrong because that dentist is not in the network. The insurance company then told me that if you ever have to pay upfront for any reason, take that as .... you're not covered. Now I know! Thanks Smiles at FFX Corner. My wife went here for a massive amount of dental work. After the first couple of visits and reviewing the dentists plans, every seemed great. Although the word was going to run an absurd amount of money, we figured what the hell (when I say absurd, I mean over $20,000 absurd). Now, months later, she still has problems. They didn't finish the job as they said she needed to wait to have the last part done, but the insurance will also not cover the next phase for a while so there is that now. The way she wanted her teeth, well, that is not what she got. Not even close. Then, billing problems. I won't even get into that disaster. Ok, so in between all this mess, I went in to have my teeth looked at. I knew I had a couple of cavities and I needed a cleaning so I went. They wanted to do $6600 dollars of work before they would clean my teeth. Needless to say, I didn't have my work done here. Most of the staff is very friendly though. At first I thought this was the best dentist office I had ever been to. All the bells and whistles of fancy equipment and promises of free whitening services. My mistake! Dr.Rayek convinced me to take out all metal fillings and replace with crowns. Every single one turned into emergency root canals and all have failed! I even lost a tooth that had never bothered me before going to Dr.Rayek. Now THOUSANDS of dollars later I have had to have the root canals redone by a specialist and will need to get an implant. THOUSANDS of dollars MORE to fix the work that Dr. Rayek did. He broke pieces of equipment in (atleast) two of my root canals that can never be removed. BUYER BEWARE!!!! It took me a little while to find a dentist when I first moved to Virginia, I was so happy to find Smiles of Fairfax corner. First of all, you can make your appointments online which is so handy! The whole facility is clean, nice and modern. Everyone on the staff is super friendly and helpful - they even start to recognize you and greet you by name! Dr. Lee was my dentist and she is fantastic. She is so warm and friendly and makes you feel comfortable right away, which is a good quality in a dentist in my opinion. She often would greet me "My friend! How are you to day" and that's how she treats all her patients, as if they are her friends. She asks about your life, and remembers everything you tell her. I always felt like she did a great job with my teeth. When I had to go in for fillings, she was fast and efficient, making the whole process as painless as possible for you. I had several different hygienists clean my teeth and they all did a great job. I never left there bleeding and in pain like some cleaning's I've experienced in the past, but always with sparkling clean teeth! I would have never thought one of the people I'd be sad to say goodbye to when I moved back to CA would be my dentist, but believe it or not I was! It's going to be hard to find a new dentist that measures up! read more

I was a patient here for several years...the dentists and most of the staff were very much "Smiles" (except for one rude and arrogant assistant who will remain nameless). But the biggest factor in my decision to leave this practice was their shady billing practices...after spending over $12K (though mostly for cosmetic work), I am dumbfounded to get a bill for $1400! It takes the Billing Department over two weeks to "figure this out," and I end up with a bill for $300 instead, for some x-rays (which they insisted I needed at pretty much every visit)! Review: For all the dentists in the area one would think you'd be at the top of your game. This practice seems to have become more production oriented over the years. Everyone seems to be in a bigger rush now. The dental hygienists and assistants are sometimes rough in how they handle using their instruments -- maybe in order to get patients in and out quickly. The actual dentists appear to spend little time with the patients unless their skills are required. That said, the quality of care and expertise are very good. Billing is also very good. read more

The doctor seemed very knowledgeable and was extremely friendly. I'm sure the doctor does a good job as far as the actual dental work. The problem with this place is the front office staff. If I had to describe them in one word it would undoubtedly be INCOMPETENT. They screwed up my preauthorization form for my insurance. Then they tried to overcharge me and make me pay over 6000 dollars that the insurance was to cover...... not me. This was confirmed through my insurance that what they were saying I was to pay was wrong. I mean the insurance would have paid that, and maybe I would have got my money back.....but 6000 dollars is pretty big for a .......maybe. So if you go there, I'm sure the dental care is fine. But watch your bill cause dang they tried to rob me blind. Its just sad because if that almost happened to me....How many people before me didn't check their bill and ended up paying money they weren't supposed to pay? Starting dental treatment with a place is a big step and if you have to fight tooth and nail about money after repeatedly being told that you would be taken care of, and that that is what they do every day and they know what they are doing (which clearly they are clueless).....is it worth going there? I do not recommend this place at all. (I normally do not write a review.) Their dental skill is not so great compare to other places, not a lot of difference. But administrative procedure and billing & refunding is awful. 1. They usually overcharge for the treatment, and just keep the balance as their credit without telling you. I found that I have some dollar amount of credit when I checked my insurance history. Also I have been asking them to send me a check for that credit because I am not their patient anymore. No kidding, I called them more then 10 times for 2 months for credit they kept more than 9months. Still waiting. 2. They charged me for consultation fee that the insurance company did not reimburse because their lack of submit sufficient narrative - rejected twice, but did nothing per insurance history. I had to call insurance company and they ask the dental office to submit that. It took me almost 7 months to resolve this insurance issue. Made me think how important the company culture and respecting attitude is. Client(Patient) is first and money is next. Thinking about my time and energy I wasted on this, I never want to go back or anyone I know becomes patient of them. read more

There is a groupon for X-Rays, Cleaning and In office teeth whitening that they will not honor. I purchased the groupon ($130) and when I called to make an appt, they said I could not use it because it expired March 1st. Today is march 5th (when I purchased it) and will not honor. I was told by the gentleman on the phone that I should cancel my groupon and pay them $150 directly so they wouldn't have to pay groupon and will get some profit/break even. If I did that, he would order my whitening gel directly but he couldn't order if I had the groupon.. Shady! Do not offer a groupon for services if your establishment cannot handle the client load or supply demand. They should at least honor the groupons already purchased and THEY should inform groupon to stop with the advertised deal. Will not be going to this establishment. read more
