If you had asked me at the end of 2021, I would have recommended Dr Wendi, but I can no longer say that. There were too many red flags over the course of my time with Stoneybrook Dental and I no longer trust Dr Wendi with my care. We moved back to Florida in 2016 and started seeing a different local dentist, who was decent but not exactly warm to patients with dental anxiety. During the pandemic, I had decided to seek out a compassionate, holistic (or biologic) dentist and had found Dr Wardlaw from a list of holistic practitioners. I had planned to make an appointment once the world opened up again. Unfortunately, I had a dental emergency in summer 2021 and had a choice of moving forward with Dr Wendi or going back to the one I had been seeing. I chose Dr Wendi. At my first appointment, she was telling me about the new "holistic dental spa" she was opening just a few minutes from my house. I could bike to this new location! I was very excited to have found her and it was so convenient, too. I was impressed with her philanthropy efforts and wanted to support a business that gives back. Long story short, I required a root canal, which turned into more root canals, a surgery, and then an extraction over the course of about 8 months. Dr Wendi performed the extraction and she attempted to set a crown on a different tooth, but the CEREC machine broke the day I was there so I have a partially completed crown. All other procedures were performed by specialists. My health completely deteriorated after the surgery in January 2022 and involved other areas of the face, as well as a number of mysterious symptoms and co-infections. After many appointments and tests over the course of a year, I was diagnosed with Lyme disease at the end of 2022. The diagnosis was a complete shock and I could write a book if I wasn't so tired. Before all of this, I was extremely active, walking every day and an avid yogi. I've spent most of my days bedridden, barely able to keep up with work and family. After understanding the complexity of the disease, many things make a lot more sense in hindsight, including the dental symptoms. While I initially had a good impression of Dr Wendi and she seemed knowledgeable and compassionate, I cannot ignore the red flags: - Multiple times, Dr Wendi dismissed my very real symptoms, even going so far as to label me a hypochondriac at one point. - She contradicted herself a few times. At my first appointment she told me I had a cavity that she would fill when I got the permanent placed. When I brought it up later, she didn't seem to remember and seemed unconcerned. My new dentist did not see a cavity on that tooth. Was she trying to make extra money on unnecessary fillings? She told me she would have an oral surgeon perform an extraction if it came to that (this tooth had been treated multiple times) and then later acted like she never said that and that my bringing it up was somehow an insult to her. I had even told my family the same day she mentioned an oral surgeon and they were so confused when the story changed. I know what she said! - Initially, she came across as compassionate and likes to boast about her religion. However, I saw another side to her. When my health was at its lowest point and I was in desperation, she met me with hostility and ego. I still do not understand some of the interactions we had. - Her staff has a habit of distracting her while she is in the middle of procedures. While she was prepping my tooth for a crown, the staff came in to ask her questions about other patients multiple times, which is unprofessional. Now mid-way through my Lyme treatment, I am now seeing a biologic dentist in Winter Park, recommended by my primary doctor. The new office is not nearly as convenient as Stoneybrook, but the drive is worth it. PSA for anyone reading this: If you happen to require multiple root canals that don't completely resolve over a short period of time, accompanied by fatigue, brain fog, mild fevers, and sleep disturbances, please reach out to your doctor to look into Lyme disease. Lyme disease is not very well understood by many medical professionals and you must see a Lyme-aware doctor for proper treatment. My daughter is 2 now and we took her for her first dental visit at age 1 and 2 and she was delighted with the experience. My husband and I have been going to Stoneybrook Dental forever. It is such a great practice! The staff is competent and organized and our visits are well worth the drive from South Florida to Winter Garden, Fl. However, our experience with my daughter was so amazing! Dr. Wendi and her staff made her so welcome! Sometimes you go to a professional and just immediately get the feeling they know what they're doing. This was one of those times. First off, the office is really nice. Clean, well lit, and in good condition all around. The chairs even have massage features. Not that I'm here to get a back massage, but it's the little things that make a difference :) Second, the doctor showed my X-rays and noticed something the last five dentist so I've been to seriously overlooked. She immediately knew that I was in braces for way too many years and showed how the roots of my teeth had receded because of it. This wasn't meant as some big upsell and there is no special service she can offer to fix it. But I found it interesting that she noticed there is one no other dentist had. Her point of showing me the x-rays was that I needed to be very careful not to get cavities. Drilling out cavities may cause the teeth to actually fall out of my mouth. There is basically no root left on some of them. Fun times! Anyways, the price was totally reasonable. I got great advice on how to keep my teeth in good shape. And on top of that they cleaned some horrible looking stands and made my smile look 500x better! If you're on the fence, just make an appointment. My two year old son experienced a dental emergency on NYE. We called every dentist (emergency and non emergency) from Orlando to Tampa. Dr Wardlaw was the first to respond. She called me from her personal cell phone plans even asked for pics to access the damage appropriately. She put me and Dad at total ease. Saw my son first thing in the morning and completely catered to him. Although she could not fox his teeth (because the repair would require anesthesia) she referred him to pediatric dentist who saw him the same day. The dentist she referred us to was completely booked but opted to see my son only bc of dr Wardlaw. Her and her staff went above and beyond to make sure he wasn't scared or afraid. She did everything she could to set my mind at ease. I would recommend her over anyone in this area. A truly humble and righteous woman of God. We won't be going to anyone else. I highly recommend her to anyone that is looking to have a dentist that truly cares and gives you they're undivided attention. You not just a number her, you are a patient! read more

1 star, just because it's not an option to give NO stars. RUN, DO NOT WALK, AWAY FROM STONEYBROOK DENTAL. I don't care what Orlando Style or Orlando Magazine says. Dr. Wardlaw and her associates missed BLARING decay on an X-ray that lead me through over 2 months of pain and upset due to LACK OF CARE and proper diagnosis by Dr. Wardlaw and her staff. I was seen after experiencing consecutive days of extreme sensitivity around one of my teeth. After viewing my X-ray, Dr. Wardlaw diagnosed my issues as ALLERGY related, and put me on a decongestant for a week. I thought this was strange, but wanted to trust her judgement. A week passed with absolutely no improvement. Upon calling Stoneybrook Dental to inquire on what else could be done, I was immediately prescribed an antibiotic over the phone via the secretary?! I was a little confused. I politely proceeded to ask Dr. Wardlaw a few questions over the phone. She seemed incredibly aggravated that I was politely sharing my concerns and didn't seem to like the fact that I was questioning her. I was rudely told that I could have a referral to an endodontist for a root canal, if that's what I really wanted. Which is what everyone hopes they get to go through when they go to the dentist, right?! I was simply trying to understand her reasoning and why she thought it was necessary, especially when her staff was so quick to write me a script over the phone. I am prone to side effects with antibiotics and take them only when needed, a point Dr. Wardlaw and her staff blatantly ignored, AGAIN, a few days later. 7 days into a 10 day dosage of Amoxicillin, my stomach was cramping so badly I couldn't eat and was missing time at work. I again called Dr. Wardlaw's office. They had lead me to another dead end, and at that point, through 2 weeks of unnecessary pain. I told her staff that AGAIN I was seeing no improvement with my tooth pain, but that I was now having strong, unbearable side effects to the antibiotics. I was then put through a series of completely ABSURD questions, including but not limited to "had I recently been out of town?" and where... and "might I have swallowed some dirty water in a pool?" because THAT was the reason my stomach was upset after I told her and her staff explicitly that I had trouble with antibiotics?! Her advice? Just finish up the antibiotics. You're already 7 days in. At this point, I was enraged. I stopped taking the antibiotics and made an appointment with an endodontist. Their reaction upon viewing my X-ray almost brought me to tears when they knew instantly and without question that I needed a root canal and that the decay was extensive. They were amazed that I wasn't in more pain and had gone this long without coming to them. I have great teeth. I've had braces. I visit my out of state home dentist at least once a year. I had never had anything like this happen and was both relieved and absolutely shocked and incredibly upset that something like this could be missed in my initial visit to Dr. Wardlaw. 3 weeks later, with my multiple appointment root canal finally complete, I went against my better judgement. Again. I took my endodontist's advise and attempted to schedule my crown work to be done by Dr. Wardlaw, because she's one of the best, right? Anxious to put this behind me, I had called prior to my final endo appointment to make sure I got on her books as soon as I could. Days went by without a return call from her office. When I did receive the call, the conversation followed suit with all previous conversations I had had with Dr. Wardlaw's office. I was quoted for my crown after receiving vague answers to my questions related to the process and the materials used. PLEASE NOTE that this price was MORE THAN DOUBLE what I was charged at the office I thankfully ended up having my crown done. Just because an office says they will take your insurance doesn't mean they are in contract with your provider and have negotiated the best rates for their patient. Which is DOWN RIGHT UNETHICAL. I was told I would be put on a waiting list, and that calls are made 4 days prior to any open appointments. I AM STILL WAITING FOR A CALL. At Dr. Wardlaw's Stoneybrook Dental, I did NOT feel cared for. I did NOT feel like my concerns mattered to her or her staff. I was belittled and practically scolded for asking questions. I won't be steamrolled, not even by Orlando Style's best of the best in ANYTHING, again. Thanks for listening. I hope it helped. And why is this listed under Florist? Yikes. DON'T GO HERE. I am so torn writing this review. My first few cleanings were GREAT. Dr Wendi is an extremely talented dentist. HOWEVER, the downfall of this practice is the horrendous staff. The communication within the practice and with their patients is non-existant. I've been going to Dr Wendi for my Invisalign treatments, and I've had more than one bad experience regarding their communication- not telling me that my trays were in, not adequately explaining the cost and payments to me, not scheduling me correctly for my appointments, making me wait AN HOUR AND A HALF after my scheduled appointment time to be seen, et cetera. When I first started going to Dr Wendi, there were a handful of nurses at the practice that were great and helpful- it was a great practice. There has been some turnover and there is no one left at the office who seems as competent or helpful. The final "straw that broke the camels back" with this office was my last appointment. I was met with some of the most rude service I've ever had at any doctors office, let alone this one. Reception didn't even acknowledge me- it was the nurse who noticed I was there, THEN the nurse herself was rude, then I waited for 25 minutes in the chair before Dr Wendi even came in. When she finally did come in, she was, for the first time to me, extremely short and rude. I feel truly let down with this office. Dr Wendi came very highly recommended to me a few years ago, and for a while, I could see why. But unfortunately this office has changed, not for the better.
