Nothing but a bunch of crooks went in cause on the first vist thought they were honest and trust worthy. Came back for x-rays and an exam all of a sudden they were trying to charge me extra unexpected fees! After the first vist I paid out of pocket fees of 30$ witch they told me was it, the second time they tried to charge me 50$ more dollars for that first vist. After I told them I would pay when I got paid on Friday they were supposed to call me back well its going on 4weeks now so who was being unhonest. I dnt recommend smiles on sandy find another dentist. read more

Very Recently tried this dental office for the first time for my bi-annual check up and cleaning. My check up appointment went well with both the dentist and the dental assistant being very nice and informative. I was slightly surprised and a little put off by how un-welcoming the staff of 4-5 receptionists were behind the desk but did not pay it too much mind. When I went back for my cleaning the second time, just two days later I had a very nice dental assistant. I was at my cleaning about 20 minutes early as I rely on a local city transport shuttle. When I sat down to wait to be picked back after my cleaning was done I suddenly heard one of the receptionists say to me "You can go now, we don't need anything else from you." (I had not even gone up to the desk) I said I knew that, I was just waiting for my ride back and that it would probably be a while because it's the city shuttle and they gave me a window of 45 minutes. After almost an hour I was asked again by the receptionist if I was having a difficult time getting a ride. Embarrassingly I told her I was on the phone with the shuttle and was having a hard time with them. She just stared at me, making me feel kind of worse and said "We close at 5 pm." Now this sounds innocuous but she definitely gave me that feeling that she did not like me sitting there waiting for my ride, because it wasn't even 4:30 pm yet. She explained that the shuttle does this with people, just brings them early and makes them wait a long time for a pick up. She explained this like yeah, it sucks for the office, no acknowledgment as to how we, who rely on this transport because of age, disability and/or poverty are made to feel crappy on being treated like this by the city shuttle. Not a compassionate bone in hers, or from what I could tell, the other rather unattractive ladies behind the desks, bodies. But! As I was then outside the closing office still waiting for the shuttle (it had been almost an hour and a half) which had now called me and said they had been there and left! And I was trying to figure out how to walk the two miles in the cold rain that had just started and had not been predicted and I was not dressed for, the young lady dental assistant walked out and saw me and surprised asked what happened. I told her and she said "well I can definitely give you a lift home, as long as you don't kill me." I was totally grateful and she was just very sweet. I was very lucky and now have to figure out something else for transport as this was an awful experience. So...kudos to the dentists there that hire sweet and kind dental assistants!, but a total thumbs down to their non-compassionate desk staff. read more

Do not go there is you do not have insurance. My Mother and I both go to Smiles on Sandy. When I received her bill I noticed it was $93.00 less than mine for the exact same sevice. I called to ask why and was told it was because I did not have insurance. Seems to me they are ripping off people without insurance. Their contracted price with the insurance company is what the insurance companies believe is a fair price for the service. I was told I could get insurance if I want the same rate. After well over 50 years with the same office I see no reason to go back. I will say most of the staff there is great. But do not rip people off. read more

I received a call this morning from an employee of Dr. Daby's asking me to remove this review. It was surprising to me in that my 1-star review was but a drop in the bucket of an otherwise pristine track record. It leaves me wondering how many other patients have been asked to do something similar. Unfortunately, I don't think it's professional, let alone appropriate to use my personal information to harass me about something I said on a public forum. People have a right to know what my experience was and I don't think I was crossing the line. I did give credit to his staff for being kind, and for not charging me for wasting my time. If you'd like to respond to me Smiles on Sandy, I suggest you do it here. And please do not contact my personal number again unless it is to discuss reversing the bill, which you assured me you would do. I am not trying to be unreasonable, but this whole situation has felt pretty gross for me and I'm over it. I said my piece and I'm free to do just that. The dentist may not be your favorite place to go, but the staff and Dr's at Smiles On Sandy make it such a pleasant (yes I said pleasant) experience. I have been a patient there for about 3 years now, and I will be for many years to come. From the front office staff, to the dental assistants/hygienists, you are in good hands. Everyone cares about your experience, and they go above and beyond. I needed to have a front bridge placed due to a childhood injury, not something I was looking forward to. They were able to rush my bridge order so I could have it put in prior to a vacation, and the Dr got everything in place the day before I left. Superb customer experience. If you are shopping for a dentist, look no further! Did I mention that their hygienist/cleaning chairs massage you while you are getting a cleaning? Amazing. read more

I was asked to remove this review in a letter I found to be rather patronizing. If anesthesia for lower molars really is so difficult, why am I only finding out after the fact? Since I don't lie or mislead anywhere in my review - and I'm certainly not attacking anyone's character - I'm rather disinclined to take it down. I'd recommend spending your time better connecting with your *current* patients to avoid this situation to begin with, not harassing old ones to hide your mistakes from the public. read more

I just had a lower molar problem assessed and treated by Dr. Brett. His approach and attention were exceptional. My nerves were a bit resistant to the anesthetic, but he kept testing to insure I had adequate sedation. Even the administration of the injections was painless! I found him to be not only very sensitive to my needs (an excellent listener) but also intuitive or just highly skilled in reading body signals. He covered his assessment thoroughly, outlining all the options short and long term and was able to recommend a conservative approach clearly based on testing numerous areas of the molar for pain and explanations to ensure my understanding to guide a treatment plan, which clearly nodded to my choice along with his empirical testing. He was most patient with this part of the process. Because I hoped to have the treatment at the same visit, he checked the schedule and worked with staff to allow for the filling in the same visit. This was an important piece for me not wanting to have multiple visits during COVID. The care was seamless, efficient, painless. He also checked in regularly with how I was doing throughout the procedure. His assistant Brittany was attentive and responsive to his requests with no hesitation. Highly skilled patient centered care and awesome team overall. And the office procedures for infection prevention efforts was over top. I felt very safe and protected against COVID infection. Both my wife and I have been patients of Dr. Daby for several years. Recently, Dr. Daby informed me I needed a crown, and his staff had me sign the estimate on the way out the door. Unlike other dentists I've used in the past, Smiles on Sandy did not confirm that the procedure would be covered by my insurance - they only do this if you request it - and they didn't inform me about this at the time. They also never told me orally that the estimate they had me sign wasn't an estimate of the total potential costs, but rather just the estimate if the work was covered by insurance. After the crown work was complete, my insurance company had the work reviewed by two separate dentists who both said the work was in fact unnecessary! I get it, who trusts insurance companies, but that's not my complaint. When I talked to the office staff about this issue their response was to blame me - they said, "well you signed the form saying you would cover all costs." Not the response I needed from a health care provider. I then asked to have Dr. Daby call me so I could better understand why the insurance company said the work was unnecessary, and their response was Dr. Daby doesn't talk to patients about money issues. I explained that I didn't want to talk to him about money issues, but rather I wanted to understand the treatment discrepancy as who wants unneeded dental work! Guess what, Dr. Daby could never find the time to give me a call. In the end, the unneeded crown cost me several hours and close to $1,000. For that, I couldn't even get a call from the dentist or any sympathy from his staff. Needless to say, neither I, my wife nor my two kids will be returning to this office. A little sympathy and a call would have solved this issue entirely - the failure to show that compassion really made me wonder how much this supposed health care provider really cares about my health! read more

I first went to see them in 2016 when I was very disappointed in a visit near my home. Dr Jon saw me right away and was very reassuring and affordable. We moved to Seaside and I continued to stay with them because they are that great at dentistry. This was hands down the best cleaning I have ever had. First off I love the relaxing low light and beautiful picture lights to look at while I'm laying back. No one loves staring at a non-descript ceiling but we've all been there, this was a wonderful change that helped distract me. Also: MASSAGE CHAIR. A genius addition, complete with a leg pillow! My hygienist was friendly, efficient, and wonderfully speedy, with my appointment taking well under an hour. I also found out that I had to have some filings and the staff were great about reassuring me and explaining the different costs and kinds of fillings. It's a big deal for me to feel that I am being dealt with clearly and honestly. I definitely felt that with the Smiles on Sandy staff and will be going back regularly. read more

We found smiles on Sandy because of their great reviews and they were in our neighborhood. I went to my first appointment today with Dr Brett and it went great. I have a few issues I need to have taken care of as I have been neglecting my dentist visits for a few years, but we laid out a plan and am handling the main thing first, because of the urgency of the situation and the rest is on my time line. They were a preferred provider under my GEHA Federal, so they are covering about 50% (which I guess is typical for major work). His assistant Mallory was very friendly and put my mind at ease, cause nobody really likes to go to the dentist, but this is a very chill environment and I left there very confident that all my needs were addressed and I had full knowledge of what I would need now and what could wait. read more

Who ever looks forward to going to the dentist? It's nuts but that's how I feel! Ok, so I don't have much happening in my dental health other than cleanings and xrays, Dr. Daby and his staff are incredible. I'm not just saying this because I live in the neighborhood but their new office space has a beautiful, clean atmosphere. Lots of pretty vegetation looking out of the windows and nice waterfall images on the ceiling. Xrays are not painful and you don't even have to get out of your chair! Speaking of chairs, you might be lucky enough to have the newer massage chair (yes, I said massage) with a knee lift so you're as comfortable as possible. I've really enjoyed my visits here--well, as much as one can enjoy the dentist. They have Saturday appointments, and the staff and dentist are friendly. I had a female dentist (I forgot her name, sorry!) and she was very helpful and thorough for a check-up. Most rooms have a nice window onto a small garden, which you wouldn't expect from their location on Sandy, but makes for a peaceful experience. Also, I get to enjoy my welcome gift from them twice a day! Why four stars? I'm not sure if it's their practice or not, but at all of my previous dentists' offices, they would automatically schedule the dentist check-up with each 6 month cleaning or I guess it was just part of a 6 month visit. At Smiles on Sandy I guess they are separate events? On my first visit I inquired about it after my cleaning and I apparently lucked into a check-up that same day, but I had to wait an hour for the check-up. When I came back for my 6 month cleaning, it was just that--a cleaning. My husband had an appointment and the same thing happened--he only received a cleaning and still has to go back for the dentist check-up. Of course, the way life/scheduling goes, he still hasn't been back for that. It seems really inconvenient to it this way and it would be great if they would just schedule patients for a cleaning and dentist check-up back-to-back. read more

My family including 2 kids and several friends all go here. Reminds me of my local dentist I grew up with who you can trust to advise on the care you need with no alternative motives expect to deliver the best care possible with the latest technology and tools available. You can't often say that about the dentist but everyone here is so nice and make you feel super comfortable all the time. The recent remodel is so impressive and I loved the massage chair option during my cleaning today. I've even had Dr. Daby do a root canal a few years ago and he made it as painless as possible. It is so refreshing to go to the Dentist without any lengthy lectures. I was just there this last week for a cleaning, my hygienist was so gentle and very complimentary about how I am caring for my teeth. The office is lovely viewing a beautiful garden, views of waterfalls above. I always get blankets and settle right in. I am no longer scared to go to the Dentist. Excellent dental practice! I can't say I've ever had a good time at the dentist before this visit, but after my appointment, I found myself walking with a spring in my step. The staff are delightful: the hygienist was friendly, silly, and authentic. I've never laughed so much during a cleaning. Also, the doctor was informative and explained why he was doing what he was doing during my initial evaluation which I always appreciate. The rooms all have windows to naturescapes which is a very pleasant and soothing feature. To top it all off, new patients get a free electric toothbrush; woohoo!! read more

I don't like going to the dentist (who does)... but I really get terrible anxiety and these guys did a good job understanding that my anxiety is real and I feel like they went out of their way to explain things and make me as comfortable as possible. I would recommend them, but I just can't give any Dentist 5 stars. This was a new Dentist for me and they went out of their way to get me in fast and handled getting paperwork from my previous dentist and dealing with insurance ahead of time and letting me fill out the paperwork online before I got there. read more

After a terrible experience with another dentist (chain dentist, don't go to those!), I was a little nervous about my next dentist visit. Long story short, the chain dentist wanted to charge me nearly $1,000 for work (just cleaning) *after* my insurance. Smiles on Sandy? They're charging me 1/10 of that after my insurance and doing the same type of cleaning. I didn't go to the dentist for 18 years because of bad experiences as a child. I've been going to Smiles on Sandy for almost 5 years and now actually look forward to getting my teeth cleaned! So far, so good. Today was just an initial visit with X-rays and an exam, but I was quite pleased with how welcomed I felt and Dr. Daby and his assistant, Karma, were interested in my concerns. I have had multiple traumatic experiences in the past with incompetent dentists and I have an anxiety disorder, so I hadn't been to the dentist in 2-3 years because of it. I was expecting bad news, but was pleasantly surprised when my mouth wasn't in too bad of shape. Dr. Daby did not try to sell me anything I didn't need and walked me through the deep cleaning I will have to do at a subsequent visit. I have a good feeling! read more
