I called to schedule a dental appointment and was told I would need two separate visits: one for a doctor exam and x-rays, and a second for the cleaning. I asked if the appointments could be combined, since I can't take multiple days off work for a routine cleaning, and the response was met with audible sighs and an overall attitude that felt impatient and dismissive. I was first offered a random Wednesday appointment. I explained that I can only do Fridays, and again there were sighs and visible frustration while the schedule was being reviewed. I also clarified that I'm in no rush--just that the appointments needed to be on the same day and on a Friday. A date was eventually given. I then offered to complete new x-rays if that would make scheduling easier, rather than transferring records from my previous dentist last year. I was told, sharply, that x-rays were not the issue--that because I haven't been seen in four years, an examination is required first. At that point I questioned the attitude being displayed, and was told that I was the one with the attitude. When I said I may need to go elsewhere if this was the tone of the interaction, the response was, essentially, "yeah, maybe you should." Guess Edelweiss doesn't need new patients. It's disappointing that this level of disrespect is how the practice chooses to represent itself. read more

Malpractice! They filed down my molars without consulting me or even telling me they did it. I was getting some cavities filled on completely different teeth, and when they were done, they started filing down my molars out of nowhere. Two years later and those teeth are bothering me tremendously now. read more

I had my first exam there today. Dr. Hahn was even more impressive than what the Yelp reviews made it sound (which is why I choose to come here). He is very on top of his stuff, super efficient whilst being very pleasant and caring. He is so good at what he does - I love to feel his confidence cos that makes me feel I can trust him. Kendra was also very friendly and caring while doing my X-rays and assisting Dr.Hahn. I also got a small chip fixed within 15minutes after 20yrs of it being chipped! Every dentist I talked to never had the solution laid out so plainly and efficiently so I always rejected doing anything about it giving how minor it is. But Dr. Hahn really explained it to me well and the price is very reasonable, so I did it on the spot. I can not believe how perfect it looks after 10+ minutes of quick and painless work - my tooth looked as if nothing ever happened there! My family and I were patients for over 10 years and unfortunately, will not be returning. Things started changing a couple of years ago and it turns out that was the time Dr. Hahn sold his practice. I have had billing issues in the past because of my insurance but staff has always been very helpful and the issues quickly resolved. The last family visit was in November and this summer I got a phone call threatening collections yet I had never received a bill. When I called to discuss, the woman mocked me, lied and documented that lie in a medical document and laughed when I brought up how helpful staff had been in the past. I reached out to Dr. Dole (the new owner) to request a review of the invoice with a staff member as I have done before and to inform him that his new staff was extremely damaging to his business. i received a call back from dr. Dole who left a voicemail regarding the invoice procedures. I was then sent a higher bill with a convoluted document that I couldn't understand. I called again with a returned voicemail stating the protocol of his staff. There has been no further communication. My husband had a toothache and needed to be seen so he went in and was treated very differently than he had been previously. Fake smiles, undertone of irritation. May or may not be extra sensitive but it was a clear sign that my family is no longer welcome in that clinic. The other issue that arouse was one of integrity. Our child needed some work done that he wasn't comfortable doing (I appreciate that he knows his limitations) and he referred me to his wife's clinic, stating "Portland doesn't have any other pediatric dentists". I trusted him and did not investigate myself. She did good work, however, the bill was twice what was quoted and there was a discrepancy (that SHE found) on whether her husband had actually done some of the work documented in the chart so she just redid it. I started looking around and there are a bunch of pediatric dentists and we are now connected with a great one with no hidden agendas or nepotism. (that I'm aware of) We miss Dr. Hahn running it and wish it was how it used to be. I know food dentists are hard to find and we were going to let it go because of our previous experience but it's just got to be too much. Please be aware of the hidden agendas and disrespectful staff and possible discrepancies in your bill. read more

My soft, porous, teeth have seen far too many dentists. Fortunately, they've found a permanent doctor with Dr. Hahn. He is bar-none the best dentist I have had my entire life, and I whole-heartedly recommend him to anyone searching for a new office. I won't bore you with the details, but he and his office pay close attention to the detail of your teeth and gums, along with who you are as a person. My wife went here based on positive reviews online and was seen by Dr. Hahn. He proposed thousands of dollars of treatment, including reworking several existing fillings, crowns, and tooth scaling. We decided to go for a second opinion with our longtime family dentist (a thousand miles away, in another state) and the only thing he found was a small cavity, with no need to do any of the thousands of dollars of extra work. I am a new patient at Edelweiss and I am being seen by Dr. Dole. I have now had 3 visits that all went well. The initial visit of x-ray's and exam was done very competently. I then had a perio cleaning which was done quite well with minimal discomfort. Today I had a crown removed and a cavity taken care of. I might add I hate the dentist but have been going to one for 77 years, yep I'm and old fart. I was very pleased with Dr. Dole. The staff is excellent in every aspect and super friendly. The facility is up to date, clean with the latest technology. I moved to Portland permanently and needed a dentist, went to find a local one where I could establish myself as a patient. In February I went in for an initial screening, which took about an hour. Since they needed to do x-rays, a screening for mouth cancer, and other intake tasks. They found some cavities and the next week I went in for the first half of the work. I have never had cavities filled, and Dr. Hahn was great at numbing me COMPLETELY as well as being kind to me with explaining what was going to happen. Went back the following week for the rest of the fillings and again it was a great experience. Today I had my cleaning with Alyssa, and she was lovely. We chatted and she explained to me with detail I could understand about why she was doing what she was doing. I've been going to Edelweiss for several months now and I love it! The office is really warm and inviting and I feel really comfortable there. Dr. Hahn is very attentive and always makes sure I'm comfortable and pain free. I love the staff also, really nice and professional but not stuffy. The hygienist is very detail oriented and gives me pointers on how to keep my teeth healthy. Love her! And she's not rough with the floss, as some are. My experience with Invisalign there has been great too. Making appointments is super easy and convenient with their extended hours. Dr. Hahn is probably the best dentist I've ever been to. I went to him after I had a bad experience at another office and he fixed the issue with no problem and saved my tooth. was talked into replacing a feeling that I was not having any problems with. The onlay that they replaced it with caused me significant to the sensitivity and had to be replaced. 7 months later, I still have a constant, dull ache in this tooth. I was told that the onlay may have caused perminent sensitivity in this tooth and that I may need a root canal to fix it. I spent $1300 and had 6 office visits and now may have permenant nerve damage to fix something that was totally first in the first place. I would definitely recommend looking elsewhere for dental care. read more

I went to Edelweiss because they are around the corner from my house, and they had sparkling reviews on Yelp. So I am adding another! I have terrible fear of the dentist and didn't go to one for about ten years! Every person I come in contact with there is dear, sweet, kind, goes out of her way to make me feel safe and comfortable, and welcome. Dr. Hahn in kind and patient. Most of all, I have not had any pain in the procedures I have gone through. I haven't ever had such good dental treatment! I think everyone there is very good at what they do, everything is beautiful and clean, the waiting room is very very nice. They are also helpful in strategizing what to do and when, so that my insurance covers everything that it should cover. And I never feel rushed, as I do at Kaiser, which I hate. Leaving Kaiser in the fall. Today I had a cleaning, the first in ten years, as I said, with Tanya. She was so professional, and kind, and I did not feel pain. She is a goddess. Last week I had 2 wisdom teeth pulled, a root canal, a temporary crown, a couple fillings and a deep clean all in one sitting. A few of my relatives say I am brave to have so much work done at one time but I broke a tooth and procrastinated getting it fixed for 2 years because I terrified of the dentist. It got to the point where I couldn't deal with the pain anymore and knew I had to suck it up and deal with it. Dr. Hahn and his staff are fabulous. The first time I went in there my 75 year old Grandmother had to drag me in there because she knew I wouldn't go on my own and she didn't want me to be in pain anymore. When I got to the office and had the x-rays done, I felt comfortable around the staff. especially Latanya and Leah. I also met another gal who went to School with 2 of my younger siblings. I was given some antibiotics to help with the pain and I appreciated that. So I took a few weeks to figure out how I was going to pay for all the work and finally went in. Dr. Hahn assured me that I would be comfortable- he was right. I never had a root canal before but I always heard horror stories from alot of friends/family about how dreadful they are. I have to say, it wasn't that bad. To me, it just felt like a filling. After the extractions and other work were done and I finally went home, Latanya called me to check up and left me some nice voicemail's since I was asleep for the most part. I would recommend Edelweiss Dental to anyone who is terrified of the dentist like I was. I am pretty happy with my dentist. The staff is awesome, the building is cute and well taken care of. The lobby has a fireplace, which I think is great. Very happy with the work that's been done and how gentle and responsive everyone is. Dr. Hahn is super friendly and the type of guy you wouldn't mind grabbing a beer with over at the Mockcrest after your appointment. My only complaint would be their pricing. I have required a fair amount of follow-up, but every time I'm there I am at ease. Through the whole process things were explained to me (didn't even have to ask), no one was pushy about getting dental work done, everyone knew what they were doing. I did not receive any negative/condescending comments regarding my oral hygiene. They paused for breaks incase you need water or to use the bathroom. Today was my first visit to this practice. Hubby & I had reached a level of frustration with an area chain practice (think: fruit logo) refusing to return. I thought it was worth a risk to schedule my annual exam. How do you spell OMG!? The visit was wonderful, exceeding every expectation and standard of service I had imagined a good dental outfit would offer. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a pleasant as punch receptionist, the dental assistance who escorted me back to the exam / x-ray areas was even friendlier and very gentle with the bite wings -- never a pleasant requirement. And then.....Dr. Kai entered the room revealing most of his pearly whites. I'd swear his smile actually sparkled! His manner is professional, approachable, respectful, considerate, and gentle. But it gets better. Tawny the talented tooth tactician -- aka: hygienist extraordinaire -- polished my teeth with skill. This is definitely the practice of our choice.
