I have never had a particularly awful trip to the dentist; it's just always been a terrifying experience for me. With that said, it should come as no surprise that I have avoided anything dentist related for a few years. Then my wisdom teeth started coming in, and my overall teeth sensitivity was becoming unbearable. I learned, no surprises here, that I had a few cavities that were caused by teeth grinding. I set up the appointment to get my teeth fixed and let Oxsana know that would be something I would need. This is where the story takes a freaky turn: when I arrived, Oxsana somehow made me feel so comfortable, and I agreed to skip the gas AND, even though I had to get six teeth fixed on one side, I almost fell asleep as they drilled and scraped. Seriously. I could not also feel the Novocain shot - which usually is incredibly painful - and even the discomfort of keeping my mouth wide open for an hour did not bother me nearly as much as I thought it would. The entire time Dr. Kaady and the person assisting him (Dental Assistant? Hygienist? I have no idea what the title is) were attentive and direct, which I appreciated. I asked them to forgo any explanations of what they were doing, and they obliged. The individual assisting Dr. Kaady also is super good at figuring out what people are trying to say - which comes out in grunts when your mouth is propped open - which was incredibly calming. It took about an hour and more than a few shots because my mouth is so sensitive. I was concerned about the slight swelling the next day and the pain and emailed Oxsana (who I LOVE) about it. She responded within minutes with a reminder that I had six teeth filled and some swelling, and of course, residual soreness and pain, is entirely normal. Two days after the appointment, the swelling is gone, and the soreness has subsided. Highly recommend this dentist and greatly appreciate their down to earth staff.

I have been double charged and overcharged. When I ask questions about the charges, I'm met with gaslighting and confident confusion. The integrity of this place is VERY, VERY low. After months of unrest and KNOWING I've been bamboozled by Ziad and this practice, the least I could do was leave this review for the future me. Unfortunately, too many people like me will go by the reviews and not realize that the lack of integrity, not so great work (if I'm honest), and business practices of Bridgetown Dental are very shady. You have been warned...

We were sold on Invisalign and now I am realizing that this is a cash cow business for them. Dumb on my part to think that is possible for a CHILD to wear Invisalign for 22 hours a day(hahahahahaha), and never to lose them, and do so for over a year. But I guess I blew all of our insurance money on this set of Invisaligns so we have to stick with it. As others have mentioned, it is frustrating to get an appointment. If something breaks, or falls off, they don't save any time in their daily schedule to fit a quick "emergency" appointment in, you have to wait 4 weeks and in turn have to pause your treatment because of said problem. I look back at the appointments we've had and we've been given very little information, things were missing that should have been given to us and I just feel that we are literally just dollar signs, being rushed out the door.

An experience which if you're familiar with, is typically met with the level of anticipation reserved for a trip to the denti.. you get the idea. The dental treatment coordinator Leslie was super helpful and answered all of my questions! Without question, my hygienist Genesis totally gets 5 stars. "Would you like a heated neck pillow?" "Why not?" My friends, I kid you not when I say I was so relaxed during my deep cleaning that I may have snuck in some zzz's here and there. "That's pretty cool man, but 5 stars?" Afterwards she asked "We offer a complimentary CBD jaw massage, would you be interested in that?" "VERY MUCH SO" I had no idea how much I've been clenching my teeth (although my wife is kind enough to let me know on a regular basis) and MAN, I gotta tell you. If you get the opportunity to get a CBD jaw massage here, DO IT!! I never thought I'd be sad to report that I have to wait for my next dental visit, but you don't! TL;DR - I came to Portsmouth Dental Care after seeing my regular dentist, getting a second opinion…read morefrom another, and visiting two endodontists - all while dealing with months of intense tooth pain. Had an extraction and an implant and couldn't be more pleased with the reasonable cost and treatment of everyone that I interacted with. Full Story - I had some dental work done in November. Then in December, my mom passed away. Around the same time, I started experiencing severe pain near what felt like my incisor. I went back to my original dentist, who said it was just enamel wear. But the pain got worse. Since I didn't yet have dental insurance due to starting a new job, I managed it with Advil.. WAY TOO MUCH Advil. Months passed. I experienced another major family loss. I was still taking so much Advil that I could barely eat from the nausea. Then, one day before my insurance was set to begin, I was laid off. Five months later, still in pain and out of options, I finally made an appointment with another dentist for a second opinion. That dentist said I needed a root canal. I saw the endodontist they referred me to, who agreed with the diagnosis, but they didn't offer general sedation and that's a no go for me. I found a different endodontist who did offer general sedation, and saw them. I've already left a separate review for that situation, but suffice it to say I left shaken and angry, and couldn't trust that office. After doing some research, I found Portsmouth Dental Care and scheduled a visit with them. They saw me the very next day. Let me tell you: dealing with untreated tooth pain while unemployed and grieving two losses is a nightmare. Add in generalized anxiety, and I truly felt like I was hanging on by a thread. But from the moment I walked in, Portsmouth Dental Care treated me with compassion, patience, and respect. It turned out that a root canal would not have solved the problem at all. The tooth had a large vertical crack, which Dr. Hunt clearly explained and showed me. Their recommended approach was extraction and an implant. I was scared about the cost because, again, I was unemployed. But the total price, even including the implant, was only a few thousand more than the root canal alone would have cost at the other practice. I came back twice after the procedure, both times worried that something might be wrong. They got me in quickly and didn't charge for either visit. The first time, I noticed the tooth in front of the extraction felt rough. When I looked closer, I saw a visible crack. Dr. Hunt said he'd told me about it--but then realized he'd explained it while I was still coming out of sedation. The crown had cracked during the extraction because it had been made too thin by my previous dentist. It wasn't technically their responsibility, but because it cracked during their procedure, Dr. Hunt said they'd replace it at no cost when I came back for the abutment. The second time, I was concerned about a small white bump behind the extraction site. I was spiraling, assuming the worst, but they explained calmly that it was just tissue regrowth. Bonus points: they used humor, which is my coping mechanism, and the fact that they met me in that space made me feel genuinely seen. Not only was the total cost reasonable, but I was treated like a person, not a problem. The biggest takeaway for me? Go to a practice that handles everything in one place. When you only see specialists, they tend to recommend what they do--even if it's not the best or most cost-effective solution. If you're looking for a team that's kind, honest, thorough, and incredibly skilled, I cannot recommend Portsmouth Dental Care enough.
