When I first went into his office, I had a good 20 something years of horrifying dental experiences. From my first dentist who forced spreaders into my little mouth and likely caused my TMJ, to the dentist who was so careless, inattentive (and just plain evil) that she attempted to do a root canal on me after my anesthetic wore off (not even asking if I felt pain) and without her assistant present to suction the blood and debris because she was too impatient to wait for her return from break. (The end result of which was me choking and spitting up the pool of blood that had formed in the back of my throat all over my own shirt and not receiving so much as an apology, just an expression of irritation.) I digress, Dr. Hwang is the exact opposite of that. You never feel like you're one of 10 plates the dentist is spinning, running from one room to the next to maximize patient count for $$$. Instead, you meet genuinely kind reception, a calm atmosphere, modern equipment and a dentist with great skill and gentle hands who always seems fully attentive and explains everything to you thoroughly. You won't be aimlessly sitting in the dental chair for hours waiting for him to return while your anesthetic wears off. Instead, you'll have quick, gentle treatment and consultation on your options. Some of my biggest dental regrets are the bad dental work I received at various dentists before I discovered Dr. Hwang. Unfortunately, I don't have insurance anymore so I had to find a medi-cal dentist and thankfully I did eventually find one I love, but every so often I'll get a birthday e-mail from Tri Valley Aesthetic and look back fondly and wish I could return and someday I think I will. If you have the option, I would highly recommend Tri Valley Aesthetic under Dr. Hwang.

The office staff reflects the art of customer service. Audrey, Megan, and Elizabeth are absolute gems who always make you feel like family. They won't ask you do you need help with anything even if they saw me walk into the office. I had to walk up to tell them I had an appointment. Anyway, I visit this office twice. The first time the Doctor say in a nice way I need deep cleaning, however, I didn't do it. 6 months later I went back for my second annual cleaning. This time the Doctor rise his voice say to me, I already told you, you need to do deep cleaning, your gum is bad and you will lose all your teeth. One of his staff was next to me when she heard the Doctor says that to me. She shakes her head to agree with Dr. Luu. When I see her reaction I was like WTH, now I get why your staff is impolite and unprofessional. In my head was like no matter what, you don't rise your voice to patients, and I will do the deep cleaning somewhere else at least with a nicer Doctor, I will never come back here again. In 2022, I went to a different Doctor and I insisted to ask do I need a deep cleaning. This Doctor told me no you do not need deep cleaning at all, your teeth and gum are healthy. This year 2023 I went to another Doctor, this Doctor didn't even say I need any major services like deep cleaning, my teeth and gum are healthy. Because of my insurance, I go to different doctors. Why am I writing this review after 2 years later, it is because I have seen two doctors, and none of them told me I need deep cleaning besides Dr. Luu. Not sure if he is still new to dentistry, he needs more experience or he needs to work on his customer services skills or he wants to get more money from his patients but for sure I won't go back to Mint dental.

He was going camping that weekend, talked about the MPG his SUV was getting, somehow we got into a Round Table vs Mountain Mike's pizza debate, etc. I'm thinking this guy should probably get to whatever duties he has. Eventually he leaves, only to return 2 minutes later wearing scrubs and that weird light they wear on his head. Yeah, the 'dude' I talked to for 15 minutes was the Doctor, lol. I will try not to make this too long, but I can't sing their praises enough!! I have an 11 year old son who complained of a toothache on a Wednesday. He is extremely scared of dentists and needles. Has had many very bad experiences as he has had poor teeth since his first one came in. I immediately called about 5 dentists on his insurance list to make an appointment and the soonest any of them would see him was 2 weeks away. Was hoping his toothache would subside before then. Two days later, he couldn't sleep and barely could eat. Called the insurance company directly and they directed my to Western Dental. They saw him right away (5 days after his first tooth pain) and found that he needed a root canal, several cavities filled and a spacer removed. After asking what I could do to help his pain until something could happen, they prescribed an antibiotic. His root canal was on a permanent tooth they may or may not have been fully developed enough to save and it would take 4-6 weeks to get approval on the procedure once I could find someone who could do the work, if it could even be done.They gave me 2 referrals for dentists neither of whom could help his situation, but were looking into other options that my coverage would allow. By Thursday, my son was in so much pain he had slept a total of 5 hours in 3 days an was on a diet of noodles (all he could eat). Called his doctor who prescribed him Norco for the pain and even with this heavy pain killer it wasn't working. By Friday, I was in tears watching my son and having no recourse and no one giving me any direction. I didn't know if I should call and endodontist or a dentist to just pull the tooth, but since he is so young, loosing his tooth could change the whole dynamic of his mouth for the rest of his life. I was desperate to say the least. I went on yelp and looked at local endodontists with good reviews and flexibility with any procedure he might need and flexible hours since it was a Friday and couldn't imagine going through the weekend without help. Dr Rakhi Jani (Smiles Unlimited) fit the bill and I called her a 9:30 am. She immediately heard my story and had my son come in at 12 noon. She took more x-rays to check his molar's root growth (original dentist didn't even check his roots, just the cavity). She said it looked very promising to save his tooth. I explained that with everything that needed to be done and his extreme fears, he really needed to be put under for the procedure. She immediately called an anesthesiologist to find out the soonest he could do it. She came back in and asked me the last time he had eaten. I said he had a small piece of bread on the way there. She counted the hours and said she could do the procedure at 5:00 pm that night. I nearly fell out of my chair and my mouth hit the floor! Not only was she and the anesthesiologist (Dr. Michael Lam, who by the way is the best I have ever dealt with and I have dealt with a few) were willing to work on a Friday night after hours, but it was also Halloween night and she skipped taking here young children out to help mine!! The procedure was way more involved than any of expected. Dr. Jani said once she got in a saw the extent of damage to his tooth she didn't think it was savable. She decided to try anyway. It was far from easy, especially since it can't be crowned until it is a fully developed tooth, but she did it!!! She also found several other big problems once she removed the spacer and fixed all those as well. He was under for 3 hours and had so much work done. Then after working all day and then all night with my son. She sat my husband and I down and visually and verbally explained everything she did and the idiosyncrasies of my sons "soft" teeth. No dentist in all the work he has had done since age 2 had ever explained his teeth to me, so I can help him and make him understand. She had 2 other staff members stay late to help and they were also so compassionate and caring with all of us. My son is no longer afraid to go and see them. They do not take his dental coverage, but I will be going to them from now on as the out of pocket cost is well worth every penny to me. Oh and by the way, after all the horror stories I have heard and read about root canals, my son woke up the next morning with zero pain (not even post-op pain) and first thing he asked was could he eat and use all his teeth. When I told him it was okay, he yahooed and did a dance. Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart!!! You all are the greatest!! read more

Dr. Rakhi Jani is one of the most caring and professional dentist that I have ever been to. In the past, I have had a couple of bad experiences of going to a dentist, (which scarred me for more than a decade). if I had a toothache or something, I would just tolerate it and take some pain medication. I was out of town when I had a severe pain on my lower tooth. The pain was so unbearable, I was in tears. I began looking online who's in my network and read their reviews. I went through a lot of dentist, going back and forth, fearing that whoever I choose, will be the same experience I had before. I came across Dr. Rakhi Jani, read the reviews but still was not convince that someone could be this good, kind and professional. So I kept looking at other dentist profiles, it took me couple of hours (yes, I was that scared to pick one), but at the end, Dr. Jani's patients reviews was the most positive ones. I called her office first thing in the morning. I explained Diane (Office Mgr.) and Dr. Jani my situation (severe pain with swollen right cheek) and they were able to put me in their schedule. When I saw Dr. Jani, I told her my situation and past experiences. She immediately assured me that I would be ok and that she would take care of my dental needs. I remember seating there afraid, crying and worried that I would have to go through the same nightmare I had in the past. It didn't take long for me to tell her my story, she listened and understood. Dr. Jani kept assuring me that I will be ok and she will do everything she can to help. The next day Dr. Jani began to work on my dental needs which took several hours. The entire time I was in her care, she made me feel comfortable, at ease and really showed she cared. She constantly made sure I was relax and if I started to tense up, she kept telling me everything will be alright. For the first time, in a long time, I felt relieved and happy to have dental work done. Dr. Jani is an amazing person who really care about her patients. Her staff is also amazing. They made me feel so welcome. I can't thank her enough for what she has done for me. I am grateful for her understanding and for accommodating me in time of need. I highly recommend Dr. Rahki Jani, of Smiles Unlimited, in Livermore, as your new dentist. She is gentle, sweet, kind, personable, and an amazing dentist!!! Dr Rakhi is by far the best dentist I have ever been to. Not only is she skilled and knowledgeable, she's incredibly compassionate in all her work. I met her at a farmers market years ago and am so grateful that I stopped at her both. I had previously seen Dr Lopez at Livermore Smiles and had an honestly terrible experience. I wasn't respected or heard, and actually got a nasty infection after an extraction. I have never had any similar or related issues with Smiles Unlimited. In fact my only issue is that I can't afford all the work I need. And on that note, Dr Rakhi has actually helped me build treatment and payment plans that I can afford, while providing me with the best treatment options. She's also incredibly patient and takes the time to ensure that work is properly done. For example, either she or a hygienist will stay with you to ensure that crowns aren't just set, but that the enamel is smooth and your bite is comfortable. Including a photo of her work. I damaged my teeth pretty severely and needed to repair or replace every tooth. Now no one would ever guess that these are all "fake" in some way, or that a few years ago I was too embarrassed to show anyone my honesty nasty teeth. This is the BEST dental office ever! Dr. Rakhi Jani is phenomenal. My family is all seen by her for our dental needs. We've been to many places and have never been treated as well as we are treated here. Dr Rakhi Jani cares very deeply for each of us, gives fair and comparable pricing, and amazing quality dental work. As if that wasn't enough, my 10 y/o son with Autism has struggled with eveey other dentist we've seen. Most would refuse to work with us unless we were willing to sedate him. Dr. Rakhi Jani is so awesome and helps him work through his fears and anxiety without any medication or sedation. She also sees my 4yo daughter who just adores the even though she hates dental work. She even had a baby root canal done with numbing shot and she barely even knew she was getting it because of how well Dr Rakhi Jani walked her through it. Not only is Dr Rakhi Jani amazing, the staff is just as fabulous!!! They are friendly and sweet and treat us all very nicely. Its easy to get appointments both emergency and regular! I have been the patient of Doctor Rakhi's for over three years now. Every time she provided top service, at both evaluation of the health of my teeth, as well as fixing them. My teeth are really bad quality, quite sensitive. with receding gums and lots of cavities, and Dr Rakhi has never left me without excellent advice on how to deal with my issues most effectively, on top of, of course, doing the job on the teeth themselves. I had moved from Livermore to San Jose over two years ago, but I still go back to Dr Rakhi's office for every job I need done on my teeth, be it cleaning, filling or a crown. Dr Rakhi has a very personal approach to me, she advises on best fitting treatments and has excellent prices. To me, having a dentist I can trust is crucial, that's why I decided to stay with Dr Rakhi. With the service she has been providing and the care, I do not have a reason to look for another specialist, even for the convenience of smaller distance. I had been looking for a dentist for quite a while and my friend who was in the same boat as I, told me that he had found Dr. Rahki located in Livermore. He described how he just had the most gentile and wonderful experience with her and the staff. I took his advice, called to make an appointment and spoke directly with Dr. Rahki. She was extremely helpful in getting me set up and always in contact when I need her. this past month I have been there a lot and I truly don't mind going. All of the girls in the office make you feel so welcomed. They are polite, helpful, professional, and most importantly sincere. Both my husband and I are very grateful to our friend who recommended them to us as well as their whole team. :) It is an extremely comfortable environment and no one there makes you feel uncomfortable nor are they unapproachable. Dr. Rakhi Jani is just amazing. I used to go to her when she was at Pannu Dental in Dublin and back then came with over 12 years experience. She strives for perfection and is very meticulous. I live in Livermore and had a cracked tooth, Pannu Dental couldn't accommodate me right away and I was interested in find another dentist, so here was the opportunity. I saw 3 different dentists in Dublin in the last 2+ years and wanted someone I could trust and rely on for the long haul. I remembered her name and started to google search her and there she was with her own practice in Livermore. So convenient and of course provided the expert care she gave me previously. I had my tooth pulled and started the implant process the next day. You won't find top of the line furniture here, but she makes it up in extremely great service. I had a broken crown on work at Livermore and I started looking around for a dentist. Folks at work mentioned her and I checked her out on the Aetna web-site. She had been rated a 9.4 out of 10. They could not be more wrong. She is a 10 out of 10 in my book. She is incredibly gentle. Here is a small touch. While injecting my gums, which as anyone knows is very uncomfortable. She has this way of gently rubbing your forehead with her thumb and you instantly relax. Small but important touch. When the temporary crown came off, I went back to her and was immediately accommodated. The temporary crown came off because I was dumb enough to floss it with a water floss jet. I have been going to this clinic for 2 years now. Someone recommended me to her and I have since then, recommended her to many people. I never go to a dentist until they are recommended by someone. Dr. Rakhi is amazing. She has great recommendations for whatever is bothering you. Her pricing is fair. Her personality is very gentle. I am very scared of the numbing injections, and she manages to calm me doesn't every time. Her staff is very caring as well. I have had many interactions with them since I had some lengthy work done and found them to be fair at every interaction. The best thing is she will never push you to do what she thinks is right.She will give you her recommendation, tell you pros and cons, and then helps you decide. I don't like pushy doctors. I had an amazing experience. Because of my health concerns I required pre-medication; Dr. Rakhi made sure that I always had enough of my prescription and that I had taken them prior to my appointments. I appreciated that the staff always provided me with very clear instructions. I had a lot of treatments to undergo and they went at a comfortable pace. The process was made so much easier because of all of the individual attention and care given. It was easy to get an appointment that worked for my schedule so I could come in and have plenty of time for the visit. The personal care and consideration given at this office goes above and beyond; after the treatment the doctor called to check on me. I will start this review by saying Dr. Rakhi Jani made my experience in getting dentures, a positive one to say the very least! There is not one encounter that I have had with this very warm, caring, compassionate , nonjudgemental, Dentist and staff that was anything less than pleasantly comfortable. I have been a huge coward my whole life when it came to getting the dental care I needed. Also I am a complete wuss when it comes to pain. It was way past time to do something about my teeth because I couldnt smile anymore and actually stopped hanging out with my close friends and family because I was ashamed. 100% SMILES EAR TO EAR from this guy!!!!! My story begins just a short three weeks ago. I came into the office September 7th with a set of horse dentures that were six months old, installed by a lady who CALLED herself a dentist!!!! I am a very playful and fun-loving Guy but with these dentures I couldn't even look at anybody. Smiles Unlimeted. Definitely 5 Stars, wonderful staff, and Dr Rakhi is absolutely awesome. I had a very badly broken and infected wisdom tooth, that had become extremely painful. As well as several cavities. Dr Rakhi was able to repair all my cavities, and remove the broken tooth as well as do a teeth cleaning in one visit. I was extremely impressed with what a light touch she has when working with the different tools, even the drilling tool. She was able to repair all of my cavities with out even giving me a Novocain shot, and no pain at all. And even the badly broken tooth was no problem for Dr Rakhi. once I was nice a numb it was gon in about a minute. A true professional at her craft. Smooth experience. Dr. Rakhi did Root Canal on one of my tooth and so far i can confidently say that my tooth is saved. She is very patient and hard working. On the first day of my Root Canal appointment i suddenly had to go SanJose and while coming back i was stuck in traffic and was hour late. She waited for me after office hours and took care of it. Now my son is having his braces fixed and already getting comments from my friends that there is a big difference in my son's teeth. And one last thing, you can stop using mints and Gums because she will point out the issue and fix it and make your mouth feel fresh. I have know Dr Rakhi when she used to work in Fremont and since then i have been going there because she is THE BEST dentist. She is very soft spoken and very knowledgeable. She will always guide you and never charge extra. I had a real bad toothaches and i went to some other dentist and she gave me a list of treatments and then i met Dr Rakhi and she gave me some painkillers and did the cleaning and some fillings... thats it!!!! My Mother is 93 yrs. young and resides in Assisted Living. She was very much in need of a Dentist. I went and talked to Smiles Unlimited's staff and decided to take my Mother there. The entire staff has been over and beyond accommodating her in every aspect where my Mother feels very comfortable (they even call her Mom). After several visits it is obvious that when the work is completed my Mother will be able to eat normal again. When I read the reviews she had from other patients, that convinced me to try her. WOW, if you could give her six stars I would. She is a very kind and gentle doctor.
