My vet recommended my dog get his teeth professionally cleaned, so I brought my good boy here. First of all, the location is pretty easy to miss. It's not located right on Main Street, but right before you hit Main Street, depending on what direction you're coming from. The parking lot is small, but I could find parking easily. Appointments are scheduled weeks out; therefore, arrive on time to avoid losing your spot! A family came late with their two dogs, and Smiling Canines tried to squeeze them between other dogs' appointment times, but it was a hassle for both the family and business. After I filled out and signed some paperwork, the staff immediately took my little dog in to have his teeth cleaned. The whole appointment lasted maybe 30 minutes. They also have a small store pet you can look in while you wait for your dog; otherwise, you can stay in your car or sit in a chair outside. The lady who greeted me was kind, professional, and efficient. The prices are around $185 - $250, depending on what type of cleaning your dog needs. Unfortunately, I paid $250 because I had not kept on my dog's teeth, and he had a lot of tartar buildup. Love that they do this at various locations (we went to the vet location in Thousand Oaks) They did a great job and it literally took all but 30 minutes. Our pup was not traumatized at all. And he was his usual happy self afterwards. Cost was $250 - major inflation! I finally decide that I couldn't take her breath anymore (even after brushing) and found this place on Yelp. Today was our first visit. My dog, Louis means the world to me. I confess, the one area of care that I have neglected is dental work. I brush his teeth a handful of times a year but, he obviously deserves the best in life! I am so glad I found Smiling Canines. I was told for 2 years straight that Louis needed anesthetic teeth cleaning by the VCA. It is extremely expensive (estimated $2500) and I hated the idea of putting him under without fully understanding the necessity. At the VCA they look at his gums and teeth for a few seconds then point you to the pictures on the wall about stages of gum disease. Louis does not have bad breath and I perceived overall his gums and teeth are healthy. I decided to do some research and I found Smiling Canines website. Louis' teeth have never looked better. Although I did not see the technician face to face I can see the results. Louis is happy, calm, and of course looks great. I'm so glad we found this service. One of our neighbors told us about it when we ran into them on our walk with our dog. Our dog is 3 and it was the first time we had her teeth cleaned. I got inspired to look for a dental cleaning service when I encountered a lost small 16 year old dog who had very foul breath and advanced dental disease. All the vets who the owner, whom I found by the dog's chip, spoke to, said his dog needed to be anesthetized and it would be risky at his advanced age. The owner was also stunned by the costs of having to anesthetize his pet on top of the costs for his advanced periodontal disease. I did not want to risk my dog getting periodontal disease and all the risks that come with it so I decided to look for services. I was freaked out over how all the vets around here say they have to anesthetize the animal for the teeth cleaning or they can't do the cleaning properly, below the gum line. The lowest rate I found stated at over $700 just for the anesthesia, which I believe is not good for the animal and should only be used under the most dire circumstances. The truth is my fur kid did not end up getting her teeth cleaned on the day I took her in. They were actually very honest with me and said that they could do it, but that she need a more intensive cleaning and some extractions and that I should take the money I would have spent there and use it towards getting that done first. I truly appreciated their honesty because they could have just charged me - I have been to other mobile pet dentists who went ahead and did the cleaning anyways without telling me what really needed to happen. I must say... I am highly impressed with Smiling Canines and the team! I was looking for Anesthesia free teeth cleaning and found them on Yelp. I called and spoke with Harmony regarding the process for my little fluff muffin. She gave me every detail and based on how descriptive, nice and helpful she was, I knew my dog would be in the best hands. I just happened to be in Thousand Oaks for the week and she was able to fit us in for the following day. My dog's teeth were a freaking disaster and even with weekly brushing, he still looked like he ate nothing but garbage and rocks. His teeth were discolored, his fangs and premolars were brown, very red inflamed gums and had breath that could strip paint off a wall. He also has a loose premolar that is very sensitive and hurts him. I was concerned his teeth were too far gone and needed to be removed soon. However, Harmony assured me that all the decay looking stuff would be removed and he would have white clean healthy teeth. I didn't believe it. She took him in and spent about 35 mins with him. He came out happy and when I saw his teeth, I almost teared. Underneath all that junk he had bright, white beautiful teeth. The inflammation also went down and his gums were finally a healthy pink color. She was even able to completely clean the loose tooth that was hurting him and told me the tooth was a premolar and would fall out in it's own. Best of all, his breath was finally pleasant. I'm so blown away by Harmony and Smiling Canines that I will make the drive down every six months and always recommend them!
