Our recent experience ordering 4 doors for a renovation project could have been easy. Zeke was helpful, pleasant, polite, punctual for a home visit to measure and place the order. Four doors were delivered with the molding placed on the wrong side of the door. We contacted Zeke and he admitted that it was their mistake and apologized. The doors had to be returned to the shop and additional molding placed on the correct side of the doors . This held up the contractor and crew. The project could not be completed. I spoke with Gus, a manager. He said there was nothing they could do except put us first on a list to have the problem rectified. It took one week for the doors to be delivered to us, with the corrections made. This situation created undo stress. There was no financial compensation for the inconvenience and aggravation. We did not ask for any compensation, just for the doors to be done promptly. They should have been done correctly in the first place. We will not do business with them again. Unfortunately, I don't know of any similar business in the Boca area. read more

Great work crew, some of the people management doesn't care, especially the "GM" Manny. Trucks always broke down, if you're a driver, you'll be driving in trucks with no A.C., you'll get worked like a Hebrew slave for barely nothing, they'll constantly lie to you about money to keep you around. The product is good, but if you're looking for a job, please skip this place, it's a circus. If you're a driver, and they're not giving you $25 an hour minimum, don't sign up. Terrible customer service. The sales rep I worked with is lazy and incompetent. It is frustrating working with them. They don't pick up the phone and then don't even check to make sure it's the right order. Pushed us back a month and zero acknowledgement. They didn't even check to see if they make the doors we ordered. They need to respect their customers time and money and give better attention and service. One and a half stars for Smith and DeShields?? No way! They are awesome! We used them for crown molding and baseboards on a recent renovation and they were fantastic. Far better than working with Home Depot or Lowes and zero headaches. Our order was fairly priced, delivered on time and all of the items were in great shape. After waiting months for Lowes to deliver 3 doors I finally canceled the order and went to S&D and ordered the doors again. I met with Bill the Hardware Manager knowing exactly what I wanted. When the doors arrived in only 8 weeks, not only were they the correct models, but also the correct sizes, styles, colors, weatherstripping colors, sill, sill colors, and sill weatherstripping colors that I wanted. I'm very disappointed with the lack of customer service, I put in an order for moldings and once I counted them after I left I was short over 100ft of material, when I called and went in to discuss with the manager they said they would check the cameras and count. If you like being talked down to, or paying thousands of dollars for a front door system that doesn't work - this is your place. They sold us a door that was warped, and then refused to deliver a replacement door even though it was fully paid for. If you are using a contractor - be warned: they could care less about you (who's actually paying for it) and will do whatever the contractor says, because he sends them business. They said they sold it! I then said to immediately get me something else so they called me back and got me a new supply from another location promise for delivery in three days. Horrible service. Never return calls. I wanted the outside door knobs quickly so the salesman said I had only a few choices for quick ship with Baldwin. Sales rep. Scott Ashley, ordered my doors with only a rough estimate of the measurements provided by me, the coustomer. Did not confirm the measurements, ordered doors that are a couple inches too bid and will not replace doors with correct size. States I can order another set! I found this strange as other vendors ie. Windows took my measurements and presented to my house to confirm measurements. I purchased mirrored doors from Smith and DeShields which are an inferior product. They are suggesting to me that because they were custom ordered there is not much they can do. Meanwhile the frame around the mirror (the mirror actually acts as the door panel btw) began falling off and it is now unusable. This company has the worst customer experience ever. DO NOT BUY from them, they secretly code everything on their invoice as CUSTOM, when it's not and that's there way of getting away with a NO RETURN POLICY at all, even if it's their fault or things come damaged They recommended a barn door solution for our new home, we spent thousands on the door and hardware. They did not communicate with us on what backing was needed to hold the door, they cut the doors too short and when we came back to them they complete washed their hands of it and would not take any of the hardware back, even though it wasn't custom. Their sales person Robin comes over as nice during the sales process, but as soon as you give them the money, they wash their hands and offer no assistance and no help, and are extremely rude. You can order all of what they offer online through Wayfair which has an amazing return policy. Stay away from this company, it will cost you thousands and you will have no customer support and no ability to return anything. read more

Nice selection but make sure you don't need anything returned... took our laundry room cabinet hardware in for new hardware... salesman measured and we found a new design we liked... unfortunately, the salesman measured our center-to-center hardware incorrectly (such a simple task) so the hardware we received didn't work...we returned for credit and even though their salesman errored, they said we would have to wait for them to receive a credit from their supplier before we could receive our credit...these were not special order items...totally stock....UNBELIEVABLE...Hardware was returned March 4 and we just received our credit on JUNE 6... that is not my idea of a company I want to do business with again....EVER! read more

We Spent approximately $3k on doors and baseboards. Purchased one door with frosted glass and the smooth side is on the wrong side of the door which was never communicated with me in the store. My salesman only went over sizes and swings and that is all. When I called on it I was told I signed the sales slip, basically my problem not theirs and I could by a new door slab which is basically the whole cost of what I originally paid. Needless to say even asking for a quote for the new slab they've never provided me one and it took me multiple follow ups with them to even get to that point. They DON'T return your calls, at least my salesman didn't. Then we purchase 2 standard bi-fold louver doors that you could buy right off the floor at Home depot and one doesn't quite fit in the opening we thought it would fit in. Mind you we never opened the packaging but apparently all doors purchased through them are non-refundable even the louver door which was not a custom order. So we are having to eat $110 on one of those doors too. Not to mention there were a lot of flaws on the rest of the doors, required a lot of sanding, etc. read more

I recently purchased a front door from this nightmare of a place. Overall I must say the customer service is by far the worst I've ever experienced. . The sales man I ordered the door with, ordered the door backwards. Instead of a left hand swing I got a right.. After 2 hours on the phone with the sales man who continued to argue with me, he tells me he lost the order sheet and his notes (all of my information).. It took me a good 15 phone calls before I got anywhere with these people and every time they would tell me the same thing.. "Let me speak to my manager" or "my manager isn't around can I get back to you" only to never hear back from anyone I called. It's one thing to order the door wrong but almost everyoneI talked to was combative and did nothing but argue with me..A smith and desheilds employee (Brian) came to my house after we learned the door was ordered wrong and got in my face yelling at me. After about a week of no one calling me back and being yelled at i decided to try and reach Daniel DeSheild to explain the situation and hopefully resolve it. Of course i couldnt get intouch with him and instead i got refered back to Brain . IM DISGUSTED A COMPANY SUCH AS S&D WOULD EVER HAVE SUCH RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL, ARROGENT PEOPLE REPRESENTING THEM. its a multi million dollar company making a fus over ordering a silly door jam and having a professional install it.. its been over 2 months now and i finally have my door installed. And as for the company smith and deshield hired to install my door. the owner/manager of the company called me to curse me out and verbally assulted me.
