I got there at 1015 for 1030 appt. At 11am I asked how far behind it is she said, "They should be taking you in soon its only 10:40. I said its 11am, my appointment was 10:30. Your clock is wrong" At 11:08 went back for xrays. They sat me down and said that they had seven extractions to do so it's gonna be a while before they can get to me. I asked if it was going to be a few minutes or closer half an hour? They said maybe it might be longer. So I said I'll come back another day because I have another appointment at noon in Morristown. Sunday night my back tooth that had bene bothering me; the top part of it actually came off causing me more pain from being exposed. I called and left a message expecting a call back Monday morning to see if they could see me before 2pm to have a emergency extraction because there was no way to save this tooth. I didnt get a call back so I called again and they said they would contact my insurance to get it done. still no response. So since I didnt hear anything, I went to my 2pm appointment, Nothing was sent to my insurance yet. The dentist said that there's no saving my tooth because it was cracked at the root and that's what was causing me so much pain is my gums we're actually growing into my tooth. So I'm going back-and-forth between them in the VA because they didn't put emergency extraction needs to be done ASAP. So I tell them that needs to be put in so I can get this tooth out I'm in a lot of pain. I kept calling the VA to put it in to get this tooth pulled, but Hurleys office didn't put in for emergency extraction, just regular. So the VA gets it approved within a couple hours and this place says they're gonna schedule me out in two weeks. I said are you kidding me I'm in a lot of pain I can't wait two weeks for this to come out it's been causing me issues for two months. I had asked the lady at the front if they could send in some pain medication and please call me and let me know when she calls it in. She never gave me a call back. Front people need better training and reliability.

He determined the cause of my pain, and gave me antibiotics to begin treatment right away. He had the girls in the office call me on Monday morning to see me that very same day. He took X-rays again And determined that I needed to see a specialist. His office staff sent my referral in for me. I will continue to see Dr Hurley in the future.

My filling went smoothly and it was not that much pain after, I was able to eat and it looks amazing. I just want to say how excited I was to have Mr. Conrad work on my teeth he is one of my favorite dentist and I will be sure to return and have him do the rest of my teeth work. With that surprise showing on my face I said, "that's not what we discussed. No teeth should have been extracted." The dentist abruptly cut me off with, "we have a signed treatment plan" and left the room. Shortly afterwards the receptionist returned to discuss the mix up. A proposed treatment plan different than the one we had signed and paid for somehow ended up in the dentists agenda. I understand that mistakes are inevitable, but I can't understand this level of negligence with no preventive system of checks and balances. Moreover, while after an off handed attempt at blaming us for the mishap by asking questions and discussing all possible scenarios months ago, they did eventually apologize and offer to reimburse the additional funds paid for services not received. However, both the dentist and receptionist were far too defensive and I just don't feel they sincerely regret what has happened. We're home now and I feel just terrible about all of this. We made every attempt and would have spared no expense to get the best possible dental care for our daughter. And yet, here we are with a confused little girl, unnecessarily dealing with perhaps 6 months or a year of eating without front teeth. Perhaps I should have insisted that a parent be allowed to witness the procedure or, well, I don't even know what else to say. This is the worst experience I've had with a medical professional and it happened to my little girl. All this aside, the procedure was at the Kingsport location. The environment was nice, the efforts to entertain and engage the children were great. The staff was quite friendly, until there was a problem. Everything was on point aside from the one thing that mattered.

When I read reviews that person after person sounded like me with their reservations about going to the dentist and then they all RAVED about Dr. Leatherwood, I said, "He's GOT to be the guy!" So...for a difficult extraction of a large molar with extra long roots, I can honestly say that on a scale of 1-100, at its worst, any pain I had during the procedure was about a 2. And, it was over WAY faster than I figured it would be and I am THRILLED. I know I will be sore for a bit, but the roaring pain when the tooth was at its worst makes this pain feel WAY tolerable.
