We were in Chicago Friday night for winter wonder fest what could go wrong did go wrong my adult children purchase parking on online and drop us off at the event and they went to park the cars after an hour and half they found parking spots which where in not so great area about 30 minute walking distance from event. than I get a call that my son cannot lock the car because I had the keys and car push button start so car would not start again.so I had them give me the address where they were I put the direction in my phone and start to go find them it seem pretty easy to get to but so. I was asking some folks how get there and no one new they then directed me to a gentleman named Ricky Valdez . he started to directing me where I needed to go get my kids using my phone app but half there my phone dies and Ricky knew I would have gotten lost he stuck by me and make sure I found my children. We all got back to the event I tried to give Ricky money for his trouble's but he refused he just wanted to make sure everything turn out good for us . I would like to tell everyone how pleased I am with Smithereen. They have been servicing my building for a number of years and we have had excellent technicians. I am writing this review because of the amazing technician that has taken responsibility and ownership of any problems we have encountered over the past year. His name is Erik Dennis and his dedication and professionalism has been truly appreciated. I never knew why they the folks who came out, "technicians" until we had the last two. Not only can Erik tell you about the habits of the pests, he can tell you how the different chemicals and tools best work for you. He is quite impressive and takes the anxiety down several notches. We have an old building and there have been waterbugs, centipedes, an occasional mouse and God knows what else! He spends time crawling around at their level and in the corners, under the radiators, under beds and wherever else he feels that these critters are waiting to ambush you. We have had Lenny Kirnew as our pest control technician for the past 6+ years. He has always been professional and courteous with our staff and residents! No matter what situation Len has been met with (and there have been many) he ALWAYS has calm demeanor! I seriously doubt that you have any employee like Len! Professionally speaking, Len comes in inspects, recommends and makes sure that follow up work is done. As such, we have NO pest problems to speak of! He makes sure that we receive all the services our contract specifies. Most importantly, Len's diligence in maintaining monthly extermination is impeccable! On a recent trip to Chicago's Navy Pier, we had the pleasure of meeting RIcky Valdez who is employed by Smithereen. Not knowing who he was or who he worked for at first, we asked him for directions. My work uses Smithereen for pest control. I haven't noticed any issues with them. My workplace has us working in a lot of really old buildings, which bugs seem to love, so pest control is really important here. The technician assigned to my building (Nestor) is particularly wonderful. He is so attentive! I have a ridiculous phobia of carpenter ants, and he always comes right away whenever I call. I feel safe from terrifying ants as long as he's around. Plus, added bonus, he's always been so personable and friendly, I really enjoy when he comes to check on us. He's awesome! read more

I had an incredibly frustrating experience with Smithereen. I reached out multiple times via email and despite repeated follow-ups, I never received a response. A company that deals with pest control should prioritize customer service and timely communication, but they completely ignored my inquiries. If this is how they handle potential customers, I can only imagine how unreliable their actual services are. We've had two visits from an aggressive, white trash, toothless, drooling squirrel trapper. When asked about where he was taking the squirrels, he answered: "That's none of your business." And then he proceeded to berate me and insult me. Classy, real classy. At that level of intelligence, probably a back-office filing position would be more appropriate? Ricardo Munoz was the technician that came on site and I will keep this service because of him alone. He came in and removed a yellow jacket ground nest. They were a family oriented company that really took the time to make sure their clients, and staff were treated fairly. I stayed in touch with some of the staff. And decided to return recently.
