I have used him for rodent issues at my rental property and home. When I say he goes through the inspection with a fine tooth comb that is no exaggeration. I come away from the visit at ease because the game plan is concise and there are no shortcuts taken. Don't waste your time calling the other big box companies. I had a nest of yellowjackets in the roof over my porch. Normally I'd have left them alone since they're great predators, but they were much too close to my windows and those of my tenant, and I didn't like to take the chance. (My tenant agreed with me, btw, just so you know I'm not a crappy landlord. LOL) I put out a LOT of requests for quotes and information and got back some serious hard sells and ridiculous quotes, particularly from the big-name companies. We're talking hundreds of dollars for a single visit plus just under $100 a pop for follow-ups. Of the smaller companies, the most responsive was Total Pest Control. Andrayll Smith was professional, informative, and direct about what he would do, what it would cost, and that his work was guaranteed through the end of the year, which means that follow-ups, should they be needed, would be covered in the (very reasonable) quote through the 31st of December. After tossing out the quotes from the big guys, all of whom demanded I sign long-term contracts, and eliminating the little guys who never bothered to respond, or gave me hard-sells or huge quotes, I went with Total Pest Control, and I will tell you honestly, I'm glad I did. Andrayll came out when he said he would. He treated the nest quickly and efficiently, and actually did a free inspection and treatment on the rest of the porch roof free of charge. A week later when I was still seeing some activity I phoned him and expressed my concerns and he explained that there would be wasps hatching out for a while and that was normal, but the treatment should take care of them. However, he said, he'd be happy to come back out and retreat just to make sure everything was covered. Again, he was there when he said he'd be there, he treated it quickly, let me know what he'd done, and never asked for another dime. And within three days all activity had stopped. Given the price and the professionalism I encountered, I would never hesitate to phone Total Pest Control for any pest problems I might have in the future. ETA July 2017: More wasps in a different spot. Called Andrayall who came out, found the problem and fixed it, as I knew he would. His prices haven't gone up, still no contract or hard-sell. He's fantastically knowledgeable, courteous and kind. On the strength of my dealings with him, I recommended him to my former alderman, now friend, (who has done me so many good turns I felt I owed him one) without a moment's hesitation. Called to have a squirrel removed from my addition crawl space. Came at the time promised, Mr Smith the owner immediately identified the entry point and what had too be done to trap the squirrel. Mr Smith also inspected the perimeter of my home to ensure there were no other entry points. He followed up in two days as promised to see if an animal was caught, not seeing one added a third trap which did the trick. Sealed hole and painted to match color of siding, left area neat. I have always used Yelp to find anything and everything and have never been failed until now. After reading reviews I decided to hire Total Pest Control as we are having a mice issue in our town home. Andryll showed up and just went off of what I reported and determined he thinks we only have one mouse and did not look around for droppings behind furniture, under appliances or even step foot on the top two floors of our house to assess how bad our problem was. I have never had a mouse problem, I didn't know the signs of what to look for for multiple mice. That's why I decided to pay big money to hire a professional! All he put out was bait, no traps so I went out and bought our own traps. Why wouldn't we be as aggressive as possible in getting rid of this problem fast? It was very evident he wanted to be in and out as quickly as possible. If it weren't for me hounding him with questions (such as should I put up the dog food and get rid of the fruit bowl) about what we need to do to resolve this he would have offered no information. Fast forward two weeks of living with this and him coming back for the reassement, again he does not look around at all and just says based off our report we have an "infestation". Well if you would have done a thorough check the first time and been more aggressive with treatment we could have avoided this. He determined based off his bait station placed in our family room that hadn't been touched that there has been no activity in that room so he took the bait station out of the room. After he left we did a thorough search of that room and found droppings all under the couch right next to his bait station that is now gone. After wrongfully assessing the situation the initial time, he had the nerve to tell us it would be $60 to come out again. The problem is now totally out of control and we will be running from using or recommending Total Pest Control ever again as much as we are running from these mice. Terrible terrible experience. I love this company. I initially contacted them because of an ant problem in the kitchen and bathroom. Happens every year and this year I was determined not to mess with the store-bought products that do nothing. After doing some comparison shopping online I went with them because frankly I suddenly felt the other companies were rip offs by comparison. And what I mean by that specifically is the followups Andrayll Smith offers that are rolled up in the cost, while others charge piecemeal. After coming to my home the first time and applying the spray inside and out, he called a week later and came back for a second spraying as part of the cost. Along the way I got a great education about ants and how they operate. When Mr. Smith was outside spraying the second time he noticed burrows in our yard--yikes! Rats! We had been in denial about what those holes were. He didn't hard sell, and in fact we waited until the problem worsened to take action. (People, do not feed the birds. As sad as that is, just don't. Even the shelled seeds will get the rats congregating and brazen.) Again, Mr. Smith spent a goodly amount of his time explaining what was going on, what he would do, and how he would follow through. And he has. He's been back twice already and promised to get back in a month. (With the seeds gone, the problem is much better already.) He's a pleasure to work with in all ways you want a professional to be: Informed, on time, thoughtful, fair, and with a very friendly disposition. Total Pest Control (TPC) are very professional, effective, accommodating, and pleasant to work with. I would highly recommend them if you have a roach or insect problem in your home or building. I understand they also deal with rodent and other pest problems. They show up when they say they will and provide a brief report describing what they did that day at the end of the visit. Prior to hiring them, I did some research and contacted several other Exterminator firms and TPC was competitive (price-wise) and I felt they could provide me with the service I needed so I chose them. TPC has met my expectations and I have been pleased with the results. I have used TPC to successfully eradicate a pretty serious roach problem in three separate 3-flat buildings in Chicago over the last 2 years (2011-2013). My tenants noticed the difference soon after TPC's 1st visit and they could see a noticeable improvement after every subsequent monthly visit. Note that it takes several months and visits, by the exterminator, to eliminate a roach problem for good. read more

After returning home from vacation the last week of July, while working outside, spotted several bees and after inspecting closely, noticed a hole where bees were entering at the corner of my house under the siding. Had tried using some spray from the store which I thought worked but about a week later, they were back and I decided it was time to call in Total Pest Control. Andryll answered when I called around 6 PM on a Wednesday and I explained the situation. He let me know he was all booked up and could come on either Friday or Saturday. Friday came and by late afternoon, I gave him a call just to make sure he hadn't forgotten about me and he said he didn't and said he would be out the next day and we text me later in the evening to give me an approximate time and sure enough I got a text. I then got a text the next morning giving me a better time and even got a text with a better time and then even one more when he was running a few minutes late. Once he got there, he and his assistant looked things over and even came inside to assess the situation and then he told me exactly what he would do and how much it would be which was around where I thought so I said to go ahead. Within 30 minutes, he had sprayed to bring them out and then fogged them inside and let me know to avoid the area for 24 hours and I should see the activity pretty much clear and be totally gone in a week but if I still am seeing them to give him a call. It's now been about 5 hours and I haven't seen any more bees around the area read more
