I pulled it up on yelp to find it was just across the street and open. Still pouring rain, I made it over and realized I had been driving by this place for years and never even noticed it, but thankfully Thacker saved the day as I was able to get mom's keys made and found a new business to support. They never bothered to inform me that they might be running behind. I could understand that. The only way I could secure the repair status was to physically go to the repair desk. Their first excuse was my snowblower work order was put behind generators that came in after my snowblower. The response I got was "well, it didn't snow"....Well I don't think we lost power. When I visited the store recently to check the status I was told that NOW, my snowblower repair is behind lawn mowers that came in weeks after my snowblower. Unbelievable. I guess if I wait long enough, my work order will be superseded by leaf blowers. Unacceptable customer service. If I could give them zero stars, I would.

I gave the store two stars because a nice man who works in the paint department showed me the employee who works in plumbing. I approached her and she ignored me and as I asked her if she worked in plumbing she responded with what I thought was "I'm not here." On the inside I figured I just misunderstood her. Wrong. I asked again and said I only had a quick question. She then emphatically said "I'm not here. I'm OFF." Fooled me because I was thinking "uh then why are you here WORKING?" She said again she was off so I set the item causing my aforementioned question on a shelf. She then realized I was leaving and mumbling to myself that I was going to write this missive about the experience. Check. I like to patronize small businesses rather than box stores. But my shopping trip to the box store was no less satisfying than the time spent at Ace today. After all my expectations are that I will need to know what I want at the box store. He said the they were all farmers and customers if his over the four years he's been open. They asked him to open a farm store to save the time to drive to Crisfield, Maryland for parts. His teenage grandkids once called him "Grandpop Goose" and the farmers call him a friend. This is a must stop piece of nostalgic Americana in a small town and a successful hardware store for the community.

The prices here are very high. I only visit this location if I need a last minute item because some things are priced twice as high as the large big box stores.
