I'm just not a fan, the music is not as good as it used to be. It gets really loud with a bad DJ on the weekends. I like that they serve late, but the menu prices are high for what you get. Great beer selection, cool ambiance (no smoking, various rooms, pool and games, all-are-welcome feel), and live music. I hope we were there on a bad night. We waited an hour and ten minutes for our food, and my medium burger was completely charred. The overworked server removed it from my bill when I brought it to her attention, but didn't apologize at all about the wait. There was a large party in the room, but the place was not packed. By the time we were through, we didn't bother checking out the music. I love dive bars and wasn't expecting fancy food, but a charred burger and and hour wait is a bit much. Beer is great. Food is lousy. They don't sell beer by the pitcher. What gives? Anything fried is done in the same grease. Bathrooms are shameful. Truly. Noisy, noisy, and yeah, noisy. maybe I am just cheap (free? yes please!), but I found this place to be a bit expensive; that is, if you are going there to start your night. Not a whole lot of true music clubs left in Atlanta. Smithe's remains the go to room for local legends, small tours, and indy greats. The upstairs room offers good accoustics and a full size stage. The second hand smoke will kill you. The too small restroom needs serious attention by management. But hey, it's a rock club so they can get away with it. Downstairs is more of a neighborhood pub, and has a great game room. Beer prices are a little high for a dive bar (domestics start at $4). read more

This review is for the music venue upstairs. Went during our trip to see Roscoe Bandana and thought the venue was a great and quirky one...on par with some of our Mpls venues. Not overcrowded, good service, nice sound. For my taste, I'd avoid the 1,000s of raving 'Bama fans found at the bar downstairs. read more

Came here to see my favorite blue grass band a while back. I love the atmosphere of the venue. There are places to sit and watch the show, which we did, but there were plenty of folks on the floor getting into the show. It's a pretty small place, but isn't overly crowded. Smith's Olde Bar gets 4 starts for the music venue(s) and 3 as a bar/restaurant. I enjoyed it more when it was still smoking - but understand that's not a popular opinion. All in all, the middle section is always crammed with tables and never a clear path to walk. The dart boards are fine, but always smell like Men's room since they are next to the Men's room. It's very intimate, has a really cool rounded stage, not too smokey... they get some really good bands from time to time and it's great to be able to get up close, or sit in the back at a table. We were here to see a live band in their upstairs room. Small venue that was thankfully no-smoking at the event we were attending. The bar downstairs is a smoking environment, but it is a bar after all. Sound system was not all that great in the venue, but the band was awesome. I saw my first show here a couple of weeks ago. I went to go see New Orleans Suspects (who I grew to love when I lived in Denver - they played out there a lot). This is a great venue to see a show. It's intimate and the sound is great! It's also very easy to get a drink. Also loved the downstairs - very spacious. Love the vibe in this place and can't wait to see another show there. Great "dive" bar. Actually, it's weird calling it a dive bar because it's such a big place. I love the game room. They always have great music upstairs and an awesome dj downstairs on the weekend. The bartenders could be a little more on the ball, but I don't let that ruin my times there. I just start waving after they've passed over me several times. I like parking across the street at Publix. I've done that for years and never had a problem. It really is one of the ATL landmarks. You've got to go and love it for what it is. read more

HOWEVER, the tiny parking lot is AWFUL! i could see so many cars getting blocked in and/or dented in that tiny lot. park across the street at the big parking lot. not sure if that big lot tows, but it's really the only solution. why they got 1 star from me? well, i'm a smoker. when i came in and asked for an ashtray, after being told 'no smoking', i walked right out. i'll take my business to highlander and vortex, thank you very much. also, they kinda need to bring smoking back- the downstairs has quite the unpleasant smell without cigarettes masking it- smells like a sewer! read more

Absolutely appalled. Was waiting ages for the bartender to take my order when someone threw up all over the bar in front of me. The bartender (Tiny build, dark short hair, wearing red Roll Tide shirt) and came and looked at it, then continued working. DID NOT NOTIFY ANY OTHER STAFF TO HELP. Nobody told the puker to leave. Upstairs music room is the best thing about Smith's very, very, very Olde and dirty Bar. Tried to grab dinner before a fantastic Glenn Tillbrook show. They had only two servers running around like maniacs trying to cover all three rooms on the main level. After waiting almost an hour for tacos, I paid for my drinks and went upstairs without being served my food so I didn't miss the show. If you're looking to grab a bite to eat, I'd go anywhere before I tried to eat at this dump. I hope the health department doesn't decide to visit because Atlanta will lose a good music room. read more

I went here with my wife for a night on the town to do something different. Listen to some live music and have a nice night out without the kids. Needless to say, I was sorely disappointed. I love little dive bars and enjoy finding hidden local treasures, especially when there are pool tables involved. This is what attracted us to this place, in addition to its close proximity to our Airbnb. This place was NOT what we hoped it would be. My boyfriend and I had a terrible time here. I don't want to bash the people that actually work there as I didn't interact with them much but the people that were there to enjoy themselves were the rudest most uncivilized people I have ever met. One guy, who I thought was cool at first because he looked like the epitome of a cowboy (hat and all), kept yelling "fuck" because his football team was losing. That's not the worst part. In order to express he was the manliest guy in the room, he threw his glass at the wall, it shattered, and no one - not even the servers or anyone working there - did anything about it. Another guy, who seemed to have too much to drink attempted to kiss me without any clues that I might want that. He did this to another couple who left shortly after. He was also going around eating people's food, including ours. In addition to these two incidents, there were three white males getting a bit aggressive with a shorter and darker-skinned guy over a pool game. My boyfriend and I are Cuban from Miami. After a while, I started to think maybe this had something to do with the aggressive behavior. We definitely felt uncomfortable. For these reasons, I place the blame on the establishment. Done with Smiths... Today was the last straw at Smiths. Anyone who doesn't think service should be #1 at a restaurant should not be allowed to post on Yelp. As usual, I spend my Sunday at the local 'Steelers' Bar...were every table is reserved and some people don't show up until after the game starts..one guy whose name is on a table no longer lives in Atlanta! Anyway, after going there for several year after the Real Steelers bar in Buckhead closed, I have learned to accept this. Even though they lose money by not being first come first serve...it would make sense to get there early and start a tab.... But today... 1 hr for a turkey and a chicken sandwich!! 1 Hr!!! I asked for a manager 4 different times from 3 people and was told that he was being a jerk and wouldn't come talk to us. When he finally did, he said it was very busy and things take time but that my sandwich didn't take an hour it was ONLY 45 minutes. I still felt that was unacceptable, and he said he would take both sandwiches off our tab. Part way through the game, he came by with 2 beers...but said.."Sorry, I was too late with this, since you already ordered one, your buddy's beer is on me"...so he couldn't take my beer off the tab? Then the Kicker...when the tab came, he only took 1 sandwich off!! Service has always been horrible at Smiths..perhaps they have too many 'regulars' too care. So my advice..if you are not a regular, do not expect any level of quality service. Last year.. a friend ordered chicken wing..and after about an hour he asked about them and was told..'sorry we ran out'. Yeah...Lasiter's Tavern will be my new Steelers hang out. read more
